Chapter 958: Chapter 2: Prelude

(This is the timeline after the Christmas event, before Luo Qiu left South America. Coordinates, District 11.)

Recently, the atmosphere in the Suzuki Family has been particularly tense.

Because, during last month’s Christmas Eve banquet, the eldest son, Suzuki Natsuya, once again ruined an important matter for Suzuki-kai’s head, Suzuki Yuuichi, due to his foolishness. Upon returning to the Suzuki Family home, the father and son had a huge quarrel, and the eldest son, Suzuki Natsuya, ran away from home. He has been gone for over twenty days now without returning.

Of course, it’s not unmon for the eldest son, Suzuki Natsuya, to run away from home, but this time seems different — this time, Suzuki Yuuichi mobilized almost all of Suzuki-kai’s powers but still couldn’t track Natsuya’s whereabouts, something that has never happened before.

Suzuki Yuuichi is sixty-eight years old this year. He had Suzuki Natsuya when he was forty-two, and three years later, at forty-five, he had his second son, Suzuki Haruxin.

Despite being of retirement age, Suzuki Yuuichi’s physique is still far superior to many young people… but today, Old Master Yuuichi seems to look a bit aged.

At this moment, in the quiet room of the Suzuki Family, Suzuki Yuuichi, who was writing, suddenly paused.

Because the door to the quiet room was slowly pushed open, and the second son, Suzuki Haruxin, was kneeling outside the corridor.

“Father,” ‘Haruxin Suzuki’ respectfully called.

“Still no news about your elder brother?” Suzuki Yuuichi asked, turning back.

‘Haruxin Suzuki’ bowed his head, “I’m very sorry, Father. I have mobilized everyone to search, but still haven’t found any trace of my brother. Father, I’m considering whether we should enlist the help of the Police Department’s forces.”

“Foolish! Do you want them to know that our Suzuki-kai’s Young Head has run away from home?” Suzuki Yuuichi snorted coldly.

“Very sorry, Father!” ‘Haruxin Suzuki’ bowed his head nearly to his chest, “I will definitely find my brother, please rest assured, Father.”

Unexpectedly, Suzuki Yuuichi suddenly said, “Stop looking for him! Let him suffer a bit outside! A hungry lion is treated with caution… Call back the people outside! Also, give the order that all the hall masters must pay attention, and once Natsuya appears, they must not assist him in any form! Since he ran away from home, he must be aware of the consequences!”

“Yes! I’ll contact them right away!” ‘Haruxin Suzuki’ replied promptly.

“Do you have anything this afternoon?” Suzuki Yuuichi suddenly asked.

“Apart from going to the office, I just have a few documents to sign at the pany… nothing else important,” ‘Haruxin Suzuki’ raised his head, “Father, is there anything you need me to do?”

Suzuki Yuuichi suddenly closed his eyes — at the same time he shut his eyes, ‘Haruxin Suzuki’, kneeling in the corridor, had his eyes flash with a hint of purple.

Suzuki Yuuichi suddenly frowned, seeming somewhat weary, and rubbed his brow.

“Father, are you alright?” ‘Haruxin Suzuki’ asked, showing concern.

Suzuki Yuuichi shook his head and opened his eyes, “I’m fine. Hmm… if you’re free this afternoon, acpany me for a walk. Suzuki-kai has an important matter to deal with. This matter is very crucial for us. Be cautious and don’t be like your brother, only ruining things.”

‘Haruxin Suzuki’ said, “Father, what exactly is this matter?”

“You’ll know when the time es,” Suzuki Yuuichi waved his hand, “Leave, I want to rest awhile.”

“Yes!”

‘Haruxin Suzuki’ nodded and then gently closed the door.

‘Haruxin Suzuki’ then left the corridor. As he walked along, a servant came out, and upon seeing ‘Haruxin Suzuki’, hurriedly stepped aside and lowered his head.

‘Haruxin Suzuki’ merely smiled slightly, like a genteel young man — until he returned to his room.

Upon returning to his room, ‘Haruxin Suzuki’s expression changed dramatically, giving a sense of malevolent allure — he sat himself on the sofa and picked up a glass of wine.

At this moment, a shadowy figure suddenly appeared in the room — it emerged from ‘Haruxin Suzuki’s shadow.

“Is this your plan, Yamata no Orochi?” The shadowy figure coldly said, “Influencing Suzuki Yuuichi’s mind, making him gradually lean toward you.”

“Elder Brother Lian Zhen, it’s only been a few days, you’re too impatient.”

‘Haruxin Suzuki’… Yamata no Orochi smiled, “The injuries we’ve suffered in the Yan Wuyue World are severe, and though I’m now attached to Suzuki Haruxin, this guy’s obsession is too strong, interfering with my thoughts, making me do things I don’t wish to do.”

“To think you call yourself the Elder who toys with souls, yet you can’t resolve a mere mortal’s obsession,” the shadowy figure… Lian Zhen coldly laughed.

Yamata no Orochi said blandly, “Elder Brother Lian Zhen, you surely understand my situation, because you’re not much better off than me. Now you and I are bound by fate… if I’m in trouble, you won’t fare much better.”

Lian Zhen fell silent.

Yamata no Orochi said, “Elder Brother Lian Zhen, I understand not having a vessel is truly unfortable for you — but would you rather find just any vessel, or one that suits you better? If you hastily choose one, like my current state with Suzuki Haruxin, wouldn’t you be asking for trouble? I had no choice, but you’re different!”

Lian Zhen said, “I just feel your actions are too slow. Since you already have a vessel, why stay in this tiny place? China is our real target.”

Yamata no Orochi chuckled, “Elder Brother Lian Zhen, after all, I’m someone who detached from the Main World for centuries, while you have been active in the Main World all along. Times have changed. You should know better than I do. Anyway, the advantages of staying with the Suzuki family, it’s hard to believe you genuinely don’t understand. For nothing else, merely finding a suitable vessel is easier with the Suzuki family’s financial power pared to searching blind in a vast sea, right?”

“I don’t have time to waste,” Lian Zhen’s voice suddenly turned cold, “I have been detached, which means the Yin Greedy Wolf Force has bee ownerless. It’s now residing within Zi Xing. With time, if Zi Xing takes over, she’ll bee the true Lian Zhen Star, and then I’ll truly have nothing… Yamata no Orochi, you wouldn’t want to weave a bond with a powerless remnant soul either, would you?”

“Every generation of the Greedy Wolf Tribe has a Greedy Wolf Priestess, but none have managed to take your place in the Lian Zhen Star,” Yamata no Orochi said nonchalantly, “As I said before, some things can’t be rushed. Elder Brother Lian Zhen, right now under my influence, Suzuki Yuuichi will gradually entrust more to Suzuki Haruxin. Once I remove Suzuki Haruxin’s obsession and fully control this body, it will benefit us. Just wait patiently now.”

“To make his father rely on him and to gain his father’s approval, other than that, what else?” Lian Zhen asked indifferently, “This mortal’s obsession is remarkably strong!”

“After all, it’s a True Soul, and quite the talent,” Yamata no Orochi chuckled, “Suzuki Haruxin’s biggest wish is to surpass his brother, Suzuki Natsuya — whether to gain Suzuki Yuuichi’s approval or to bee the head of Suzuki-kai, it all stems from surpassing his brother.”

“If that’s the case, then stop wasting time, and draw Suzuki Natsuya out quickly!”

“Don’t worry, I already know where he is,” Yamata no Orochi coldly laughed, “But I’ll wait until I acpany Suzuki Yuuichi this afternoon to see what he plans to do… The main course is best served last.”

“Suzuki! Suzuki!”

Amidst the explosive music, the nightclub manager was shouting for a server who had recently joined.

This was quite a handsome man, and according to the nightclub manager, if he went to work as a host, he’d definitely have a more lucrative future than working as a server here.

“What’s the matter, manager?” The handsome man named Suzuki quickly came over.

“The guests in Room 209 have placed an order, please deliver these items.” The nightclub manager pointed at the prepared drinks and said, “Make sure you don’t get it wrong this time! You’ve already made five mistakes this week. If there’s a sixth one, don’t blame me for firing you!”

“Got it, manager!” The man called Suzuki scratched his head, looking helpless.

In fact, what the manager said was true—he had indeed mixed up the customers’ items five times in a row.

Suzuki shook his head, silently encouraging himself. Jobs outside are hard to find, especially for him without even a high school diploma. The types of work he could do were really limited.

Often Suzuki wondered if his father had injected some inferior genes into his mother when he was born, as he had always felt he wasn’t smart enough since he was little.

“Phew… So close, I almost got it wrong again!”

Holding the drinks ordered by the guests, Suzuki suddenly stopped—because he was distracted, he almost delivered the items to the wrong room.

But just as Suzuki was about to turn back, he stopped abruptly and frowned—that room he almost mistakenly entered seemed to have some strange sounds ing from inside.

Suzuki, since childhood, had excellent hearing and unusually strong physique—yet his academic performance was poor, so he was often jokingly called a wild animal.

It sounded like a woman’s cry.

Suzuki placed his ear against the door for a closer listen—it seemed like a woman’s cries for help during resistance.

Well, such things happen often, it’s probably one of those women who easily get lured by men into places like this thinking they’ll benefit, only to find out they’ve fallen into a trap.

Suzuki shook his head. He’d seen plenty of such incidents… Usually, both parties are responsible—better deliver the guests’ items quickly, this time cannot be screwed up.

But just as Suzuki was about to leave, the door to the room suddenly burst open, and a disheveled woman ran out, directly colliding into Suzuki.

The items in Suzuki’s hands were knocked loose—at that moment, Suzuki’s pupils suddenly widened, and he instinctively squatted down, narrowly catching the drinks before they hit the ground.

“Whew—!” Suzuki wiped a cold sweat, knowing if the bottle broke, he’d have to pack his bags tonight—the strict manager probably wouldn’t forgive him.

“Help me…”

The woman’s voice beside him pleaded for help.

Suzuki looked up and saw that following the woman, two more youths rushed out of the room, pulling the woman’s arm, trying to drag her back inside.

“Help me!!” The woman placed her hopes on Suzuki.

But Suzuki acted as if he didn’t see or hear anything, quickly tidied the items on the floor, stood up, and prepared to leave.

“Save me! Please… sob sob sob…”

The woman’s mouth was covered, and she was finally dragged back into the room—the door snapped shut, but one youth remained outside, staring at Suzuki.

Still acting as if he didn’t see anything, Suzuki turned to leave, but the remaining youth suddenly grabbed his shoulder, “Stop, I didn’t say you could leave!”

“I didn’t see anything, I’m just an ordinary server!” Suzuki emphasized.

“Did I say anything to you?” The youth turned Suzuki’s body around and grabbed the drink from the tray.

“Customer, this doesn’t seem to be your order…” Suzuki looked at the youth, frowning, “This is ordered by another room, perhaps you could place a different order?”

This guy seemed to be on drugs.

“Why so many problems! I want this, what’s wrong? If you have issues, have your manager meet me!” The youth scoffed, taking the drink and heading into the room.

Suzuki suddenly grabbed the youth’s arm, trying hard to smile, “Customer, please don’t make it difficult for me… Why not order something else and I’ll personally deliver it?”

Bang—!

The youth suddenly smashed the bottle on Suzuki’s head—the force was so strong that the bottle shattered instantly, spilling drinks all over Suzuki’s face.

“Here! Get lost!”

Suzuki wiped his face, took a deep breath, and still managed a smile, “Why were you so careless and broke it. Can you help me prove it wasn’t me who broke it? I really don’t want to lose this job.”

“Are you an idiot?” The youth paused, looking at Suzuki, and suddenly asked.

“I didn’t hear.” Suzuki still wore a full smile.

“I said! Are you f*ing an idiot! Idiot! Idiot!!”

Suzuki suddenly punched the youth in the abdomen—the punch’s force was unknown, but it directly sent the youth crashing into the room’s door, knocking both him and the door over.

“I already said I didn’t hear, yet you keep saying keep saying keep saying…” Suzuki stepped forward, expressionless, calmly said, “I’ll kill you.”
