The method of renaming for longevity was not a legacy that Huang Qifa inherited from Mr. Blind.

And this forbidden technique of extending life was something he learned elsewhere over the years — it happened one early morning when he was invited to Thailand, to advise a local General. During this visit, he met a witch doctor from Southeast Asia and learned this method from him.
However, this magic technique is indeed quite sinister, and even though Huang Qifa had mastered it, he had only used it twice over the years.
Once it was to extend the life of a person of high stature, and the other time was out of necessity when he was threatened — someone put a knife to his throat, and he had no choice but to ply.
This was the third time.
Huang Qifa took a deep breath and carefully pulled out a short bamboo cylinder — he had acquired this at a great cost from that Southeast Asian witch doctor, and it could only be used three times in total.
Over the years, Huang Qifa had always kept the last use in reserve, as a final option for himself… and now, the time had e when he had no choice but to take this path.
Inside the bamboo cylinder was a peculiar insect called the ‘Life-Linking Gu’. It could seize the life of the first person it bit, and when it bit a second person, it would transfer that seized life to them — but the ‘Life-Linking Gu’ would die after this single use.
Huang Qifa needed to seize the right opportunity.
Because in his eyes, the two young men before him had restrained brilliance and emitted a certain spiritual glow, both showing potential for great future achievements — but he couldn’t tell which one’s fate was more auspicious.
Huang Qifa didn’t care for long life; he knew he didn’t have the disposition for that. Otherwise, after meeting the founder Mr. Blind several times, he would’ve been invited to follow him.

“Twenty years… no, just fifteen years.” Huang Qifa gritted his teeth, his face dark as he pulled the stopper from the bamboo cylinder, “I just want fifteen years… you are still so young.”
Finally, Huang Qifa aimed the bamboo cylinder at Zhuifeng, who appeared the youngest, and uttered a strange syllable from his mouth — a special method taught by the witch doctor to activate the insect inside the bamboo cylinder.
Yet, no matter how Huang Qifa tried to incite it, the insect within the bamboo cylinder remained still! Alarmed, Huang Qifa quickly examined it, and assuredly found that the insect inside hadn’t died, which slightly relaxed him.
Furrowing his brows, Huang Qifa recalled that the witch doctor never mentioned the possibility of the ‘Life-Linking Gu’ refusing to bite… but now was not the time to seek clarification from the witch doctor. Reluctantly, Huang Qifa redirected his target toward Mo Xiaofei.
“It’s moving!”
This time, under the influence of the special syllable, a vibrantly colored centipede slowly emerged from the bamboo cylinder!
Huang Qifa’s breath quickened slightly, but he was confident that the youths wouldn’t wake up easily — after all, before entering, he had used a large dose of sleeping smoke through the air.
But another strange thing left Huang Qifa dumbfounded — although the insect was incited to e out, it still refused to crawl onto Mo Xiaofei.
It seemed afraid of something, curling up on the table automatically!

The ‘Life-Linking Gu’ appeared thus afraid… this was not right! Could it be that these two unfinished youths had such resilient fates that even the ‘Life-Linking Gu’ dared not bite?
