Now reading: Chapter 449: Echoes Return from Train Survival: I Became a White-Haired Hardcore Grinder, a Action novel by 人间十月天.

From disordered sorrow and regret, transforming into an ordered, acknowledged, and cherished proof of existence.

In the void of the Star Abyss, those reappearing lights and shadows began to grow warm; they were no longer just freeze-fras of extinction, but had a sequel, an extension, and... hope.

Even if this hope only existed within the imagination of a book.

But for lives that have already perished, the fact that soone is willing to imagine their "what if" is the deepest form of respect in itself.

As the last fragnt of emotion was sucked into the book, the Star Abyss returned to silence.

But this ti, the silence was no longer desolate, but a settled peace.

The book in Bai Cheng's palm slowly closed. Beneath the line "To all the unrecorded stars" on the cover, a line of small characters quietly erged:

"Your stories will be rembered."

"Your echoes will be heard."

"No matter how brief your existence or how it was defined, you have left indelible ripples in this sea of stars."

The book transford into a beam of light and rged into Bai Cheng's body.

The oath of starlight earring stopped burning and regained its warm, smooth touch.

Bai Cheng opened her eyes. The galaxy within her silver pupils began to flow again, but in its trajectory, there were a few more points of light than before.

Those were the final echoes of billions of stars that had just been recorded.

She turned around and looked at her companions.

Everyone was looking at her.

No words were spoken, but everyone's eyes said the sa thing:

You have done sothing remarkable.

"It's not enough," Bai Cheng said softly.

She looked out the porthole; deep within the Star Abyss, there were many more such regions.

There were more purged civilizations, more unrecorded echoes.

"We keep going."

Her voice was calm, yet possessed an unquestionable firmness.

"To the next Mound of Echoes."

"To listen, to record, to acknowledge."

"Until under this starry sky—"

She paused, her silver eyes reflecting every face on the bridge, as well as those slowly dissipating lights and shadows of rewritten possibilities outside the window.

"There is no longer a single story that needs to be recovered like this."

The dawn adjusted its course, the glow of its engines carving a gentle arc in the silent Star Abyss.

Behind the ship, those rewritten lights and shadows of possibility did not completely vanish.

They turned into extrely faint starlight, like seeds, scattering into the void of the Star Abyss.

Perhaps in a thousand years, new life will be born here.

Perhaps not.

But at least at this mont, this forgotten land briefly rembered all that had once been forgotten.

At least at this mont, the echoes finally found a listener.

On the navigation screen, the next coordinates had already appeared.

Beside the coordinates was still Bai Cheng's handwritten note:

"Second Stop: Silent Sanctuary · Tombstone of the Wordless"

"Sleeping there are all the individuals silenced during experints, those abnormal samples purged early due to excessively high emotional variables."

"They were judged unqualified before they could even form a civilization."

"But they, too, were once living beings."

"They, too, deserve to be heard."

Inside the bridge, the hum of the engines remained steady as always.

But this ti, within the hum, there seed to be billions of extrely faint, satisfied sighs.

Like souls that could finally sleep in peace.

Like puzzle pieces that had finally been found.

Like...

Echoes finally finding their ho.

And {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} the story continues.

As the dawn sailed out of the Forgotten Star Abyss, the hull was shrouded in a veil-like glimr.

That was the residual blessing after billions of echoes rged into the oath of starlight.

On the navigation screen, the coordinates for the Silent Sanctuary flickered clearly, but Bai Cheng did not imdiately order the turn.

She stood in the center of the bridge, her silver eyes quietly gazing at the star chart.

The lit-up coordinates were scattered like stars, each hiding a piece of darkness that had once been buried.

But at this mont, a subtle, ethereal fluctuation quietly erged at the edge of the star chart.

It didn't belong to any known region; it didn't even seem like spatial coordinates, but more like so kind of signal ripple crossing dinsions.

"Unknown resonance detected." Leng Ningxue suddenly looked up, the data stream in her icy eyes jumping rapidly.

"The source cannot be parsed, but the frequency is highly similar to the last resonance of the oath of starlight in the depths of the Mirror Abyss."

Zi Yuan pressed her hand on her sword hilt: "Another new trick from the Observer?"

"No." Abraham pushed his wheelchair closer to the main console, his withered fingers hovering over the position where the fluctuation appeared. "This isn't an observation signal... it's a response."

He pulled up a deep-level record copied from the Mirror Heart Database, the screen freezing on an encrypted annotation.

The bridge fell into a deathly silence.

"aning," Qingniao broke the silence, "because we've made such a big scene and disturbed the higher-ups, they're preparing to give us an ultimate exam?"

"Pass the exam, and perhaps we can win true freedom." The light of the sunstone in Aurora's hand pulsed unsteadily. "Fail the exam..."

"And we won't even be qualified to beco data," Elune added softly, her light wings folding slightly. "Complete formatting—total erasure from the physical to the conceptual level."

Bai Cheng did not speak.

She raised her hand, the light of the oath of starlight earring flowing to her fingertips, gently touching that fluctuation on the star chart.

In an instant, countless fragnts of images flooded into her consciousness.

It was a vast and boundless void realm composed of countless gears, fiber optic cables, and flowing code. In the center of the realm floated a pure white staircase, and at the top of the staircase was a door, with a line of words carved on it:

"Prove that you are not an error."

The vision stopped abruptly.

Bai Cheng withdrew her hand, a cold touch lingering on her fingertips.

"This is not a trial," she spoke slowly, "this is a screening. They want to know if the variables that broke free from the script possess the qualifications for ascension."

"What if we don't go?" Lu Duo asked.

Abraham shook his head: "Once the application is triggered, the coordinates of the experintal field will be marked.

Even if we don't go, that door will actively find us.

The only difference is whether we are prepared to push it open, or be suddenly swallowed by it."

Bai Cheng turned to look at her companions.

There was no fear on any face, only a settled determination. Even the spark in Abraham's gray eyes burned more steadily.

"Are we still going to the Silent Sanctuary?" Yu Nian asked softly.

"Yes," Bai Cheng answered without hesitation. "But before that, we need to return to Shandora."

She pulled up the star chart, her finger tracing a new route.

Doubling back from the Forgotten Star Abyss, passing through three transit nodes, and finally returning to the Golden Bell Tower.

Beside the route, she wrote a new note:

"Assemble all the stars—we need to prepare an army to push open that door."

The corner of Zi Yuan's mouth curled up: "Finally going to fight a hard battle?"

"It's not a war," Bai Cheng looked out at the infinite starry sky beyond the porthole.

"It's to tell those who make the rules—the reason variables are variables is because... we never answer according to their test papers."

The dawn turned its course, engines at full power. The light from the ship's tail dragged a long trajectory through the sea of stars, like a pen stroke piercing the dark night.

And behind them, in the void of the Forgotten Star Abyss, the phantom of the Wordless Heavenly Book appeared once more.

On a new page, ink flowed rapidly:

【Synopsis: The return journey is the expedition; the old pages are not yet finished, and a new chapter is already knocking on the door—】

【Next Stop: Beyond the Veil · The Door to the Real Battlefield.】

The ink was not yet dry as the pages lightly closed.

As if waiting, waiting to see how that group of out-of-control variables would turn the final trial...

...into the prologue of a new chapter.
