Strolling rrily through the festive streets, I spotted a familiar face in a slightly quieter café on the edge of town.
The brick café had a terrace, and a young man with blue hair was sitting in a shaded seat under a sunshade-like roof, holding a cup to his lips with a lancholic expression. So of the café's patrons were captivated by his appearance, but he seed oblivious.
“Speyside-san.”
At the sound of my voice, Speyside set down his cup and looked at .
“……Aoi-sensei. It's unusual to et you here.”
Looking at , Speyside replied with slightly less energy than usual. He definitely seed down.
“Is sothing the matter? You seem very down.”
Upon hearing this, Speyside pulled his chin in as if thinking for a mont, then quickly raised his face.
“Would you like a drink? My treat.”
“Does that an you have a consultation? In any case, I was thirsty, so I'll pay for my own.”
Saying this, I sat down across Speyside. I ordered a coffee from the waiter and turned back to Speyside.
“So, what’s troubling you?”
When I asked, Speyside chuckled lightly and tilted his head.
“The school festival is approaching, you know. Most of the Fiddiq Academy teachers must be worried. Especially since the preparation period was too short this ti.”
“I see. You're worried about the content of your presentation. Speyside-san, you're skilled in water magic, aren't you?”
He nodded in confirmation.
“Ah, yes. However, while fire and wind are good, water magic isn't suitable for a presentation that will capture the audience's attention. All I can do is create a tsunami or make an ice sculpture… and I've already presented both of those in the past, so…”
“Is that so? However, I think there are many ways to entertain the audience with water. For example, although it's difficult to manipulate, there are complex fountains, and if you light them up with various colours, it would be very beautiful. How about we get a place to present in the evening, after sunset, and put on a beautiful fountain show?”
When I made that suggestion, Speyside leaned forward and nodded.
“A beautiful fountain show! That's interesting. However, lighting it up with various colours would require quite complex equipnts.”
“No, it's alright. I'll prepare those.”
“Really…? I appreciate it, but are you sure?”
Speyside asked about my schedule and the trouble it would cause. Compared to our first eting, the difference was unbelievable. Apparently, after receiving my lectures, he decided to consider his master, but this change in attitude was rather frightening.
“Is sothing wrong?”
“Ah, no… Then, I'll get started on the preparations.”
Since I had finished my drink, I left the money on the table and stood up.
“Aoi-sensei, please let treat you to a al at least. Of course, I will pay for the expenses and fees for your assistance…”
“No, no, don't worry about it.”
Waving my hand to discourage the concerned Speyside, I left the shop. Because of this unexpected developnt, I could accomplish sothing I hadn't planned, so I should act quickly.
I'm sure there was an old general store in the back alleys. I think there was also a general rchandise store nearby.
I needed to buy the necessary tools.
Thinking this, I moved further away from the lively city center and ventured into the backstreets of the city.
The number of people thinned out, and the atmosphere and clothing of the people walking down the street changed.
“……Oh? Isn't that Aoi-san? Are you looking for sothing?”
Then, I heard a deep male voice. When I looked, there was a large man standing there.
“I believe that's…Early-san of the Nevis family?”
As I murmured, the man nodded deeply.
“It's an honour to be rembered.”
Early said with a cheerful look. Initially, Early ca to this town and imdiately visited the Nevis family, heard rumours of , and challenged . After that however, for so reason, he started calling ‘Boss’. I asked him to call by my na at least, but in the end, it made no difference as it was still noticeable when a tough-looking big man approached so familiarly.
“So, what business did you have in this place? If you need help, I’ll lend a hand.”
Early, like a pet dog, approached with shining eyes. He probably wouldn't give up easily, and it wouldn't be troubleso, so I might as well get his help.
Thinking this, I nodded.
“I'm going to buy so fire and water magic stones… and I also want copper ore, and mithril. Hinami flowers and Aourou grass, and Yellow lotus stones…”
“Wa-wait a minute! I’ll write down what you just said!”
When I spoke of what I was looking for, Early hastily interrupted and started taking notes. He seed to be surprisingly ticulous.
“…That’s fifteen items in total. Understood. I’ll get them quickly, so please wait at that shop, Aoi-san. Boss is there too.”
“Kalila-san?”
When I replied, Early grinned, showing his teeth, and opened his mouth.
“Yes, that’s right. Then, I’ll be off!”
After saying just that, Earl took off at an incredible speed and quickly disappeared into the alley.
