As morning arrived, I was summoned to Glenn's office.
Since all lectures were suspended during the cultural festival, everyone except for the teachers giving presentations would be on holiday.
While thinking such things, I entered Glenn's room, and he looked at with a troubled expression.
"Please don't be angry with ."
"I haven't said anything yet."
Upon replying, Glenn gave a wry smile and nodded.
"You haven't said anything, but it's clearly showing on your face. Good morning, Aoi-kun."
"Good morning, Principal Glenn-sensei."
We exchanged a belated morning greeting. Then, Glenn took out a letter.
"Rumors about you, Aoi-kun, have already spread to various countries. Especially to the Six Great Nations. However, it seems that the Kingdom of Grandsands, the country of the Dwarves that is the furthest away, has received sowhat vague rumours."
"Kingdom of Grandsands? Is that Eliza-san's ho country?"
While tilting my head and replying to Glenn, who was opening the letter, I received a vague nod in return.
"Indeed. Well, Grandsands is the slowest to develop magic among the Six Great Nations. Instead, it is a country that has invented various tools. Perhaps a lack of interest is one of the reasons… and, here is this."
Glenn, after carefully confirming the contents of the letter, pointed to a certain place while looking at .
"The King of Grandsands is interested in you, Aoi-kun. It seems he wants to see if you really have the skills to cause such rumours. He’s quite old, but he's as curious as a child. When I beca the principal, he wanted to see my skills too, and wouldn't stop insisting. It was a matter of the Six Great Nations jointly investing, so it was likely to convince him of that too."
Glenn said this with a wry smile.
"Showing my skills... does that an just watching the presentation won't be enough?"
When I asked back, Glenn stroked his chin and nodded.
"Speaking of the Kingdom of Grandsands, they are famous for making the highest-grade weapons and armour. Strangely enough, the mithril shields made there are masterpieces that repel various kinds of magic. If you were wearing full-body armour, you wouldn't die easily, even if you were engulfed in flas. It seems that the King of Grandsands intends to test your magic using the strongest weapons and armour, Aoi-kun."
"That ans... that he will actually receive my magic?"
Is he serious? I couldn't help but look at Glenn with a sceptical gaze. Glenn sighed and shook his head from side to side.
"Aoi-kun, you may have heard, but in Grandsands, the value of a magician isn't as high when compared to other countries. That's because, even in battles with magical powers, they have faced them head-on with the power of their mighty weapons. Because of that historical background, they are probably thinking of taking advantage of these rumours about you, Aoi-kun."
"Take advantage of ?"
When I asked back, Glenn nodded deeply.
"Honestly, the rumours about you have spread to various countries, Aoi-kun. The whereabouts of a skilled magician is important information for any country. If they can completely defend against your magic…. Aoi-kun, you have garnered the attention of these countries…"
"Will it be an advertisent for their weapons and armour to other countries?"
"That's correct."
Glenn answered with a 'well, well' kind of look and shrugged. I grinned at that.
"Weapons with such confidence... that's very interesting. I'm intrigued."
As I murmured to myself, Glenn made a sound similar to a frog's croak, "Geh!"
"W-wait, wait, Aoi-kun! As I said earlier, it seems that the rumours about you have reached Grandsands sowhat vaguely! They don't think you're as dangerous a magician as the rumours suggest!"
"There's a misunderstanding in the expression 'dangerous'."
"I'm sorry!"
Glenn apologized and stood up, placing the letter on the desk.
"Every king prioritizes their own country's interests. It's understandable that the King of Grandsands wants to advertise to other countries through the academy's event."
"That's the King's convenience. If that's the case, then it shouldn't be a problem if I test the true power of the Kingdom of Grandsands' masterpiece."
"It seems there would be a problem though…!?"
Glenn's face looked shocked at my opinion.
"I'm joking. Well, setting aside the story about the King of Grandsands, Eliza-san's presentation is this afternoon. I'll go check on things a bit."
"There are still five hours left, you know."
"Considering Eliza-san, she's probably reconfirming the things she needs to prepare."
"She's very serious, isn't she?"
After that exchange, I left the principal's office. I think one of the teachers I advised will be giving a presentation this morning.
It seems like it's in the sa venue as Eliza's, so I'll try observing that too. And then, the last presentation in the evening is Speyside's water magic presentation. I volunteered to help, so I have to be there an hour early to prepare.
It’s surprisingly busy.
With such thoughts in mind, I quickened my pace.
