"Hey, hey! Did you hear!?"
"What is it, brother!?"
"It seems the beloved disciple of that witch from the academy is going to present!"
"Seriously!? Then we gotta see it!"
Such overly theatrical shouts echoed from everywhere.
"I saw the preparations for the next presentation just now. It was amazing, that thing."
"What did you see?"
"I can't say that. But it won't hurt to see the presentation. I can say that much."
While glancing at the exaggerated rumours coming from all directions, and the people who were surprised or suspicious about them, I looked at Kalila.
"...Isn't that a bit too much?"
When I asked that, Kalila snorted and shook her head from side to side.
"This much is just right. In the end, clarity is the most important thing for the masses. It's the sa with gambling; if word gets out that a certain shop pays out like crazy, then gamblers will gather on their own. If they say that a certain food place has all-you-can-eat at for the sa price, then everyone who’s hungry will gather. So, what should you say to gather people here at Fiddiq Academy?"
"...Sothing like, 'You can see amazing magic or new magic here,' perhaps?"
"Exactly."
Hearing my answer, Kalila nodded, looking satisfied. I see. Thinking about it that way, I realized that many product and movie taglines were often exaggerated. Everyone must have seen or heard about movies with taglines like ‘All of Arica cried’ or wines that are ‘a once-in-fifty-years vintage.’
Although illegal, Kalila had been in the custor business for a long ti, so perhaps she was highly skilled in these subtleties.
"Understood. I'll trust Kalila-san and wait."
When I said that, Kalila's eyes widened and she blinked.
"...It’s kind of sad for to say, but for you to have such an attitude towards , huh."
"What do you an?"
I couldn't help but ask back at that hard-to-understand murmur. But, Kalila just shrugged her shoulders and didn't answer.
Just then, one of Kalila's subordinates ran towards us. He was a burly, mustachioed man. He wasn't particularly tall, but his thick body and appearance made him look quite large. Behind that man, a slender, tall man was following.
"Big Sis!"
"Oh, did you find us?"
When the burly man called Kalila with a voice as gruff as his appearance, Kalila raised one hand in response. Then, the slender man who was following behind looked at .
"I was just in the middle of gathering so interesting information..."
When the slender and tall man, Gaia, said that with dissatisfaction, Kalila laughed loudly.
"Haha! Sorry about that. But we have urgent business here as well."
"...What kind of business?"
At Kalila's words, Gaia imdiately switched gears. He adopted a listening posture and looked at Kalila and then at . Kalila looked satisfied with that, and pointed at without looking back.
"The client is over here."
Being addressed like that, I nodded at Gaia and opened my mouth.
"Yes. Actually, the first presentation of the afternoon is supposed to be in only one place, but no one's coming. This hasn't happened in the previous two days, so I was wondering why... It's a presentation by students, so I want as many people as possible to co..."
It ended up sounding more like I was consulting about a problem than making a request. However, Gaia didn't seem to mind, and put one hand to his chin and groaned.
"...I see. In that case, I already know the reason, but I haven't been able to investigate the full story yet. If you're okay with unreliable information that has only been viewed from one side..."
"That's enough. Please tell as much as you know."
When I asked Gaia, who seed a bit reluctant to give the information, he let out a light sigh and looked at .
"I don’t like giving out half-baked information, but I can’t help it since it's the client's request... Apparently, the king of the Grandsands kingdom asked the king of this country for permission to use the venue. I don't know if there was any money or a simple favour involved, but for now, the Grandsands king has obtained permission to use the venue while it's free."
"Rox-kun's father... Why did he give such permission?"
"Father... well, you're not wrong, though."
For so reason, Kalila reacted as such to my mutter. She said that as if she was dumbfounded, but I hadn’t said anything wrong, I thought.
"Probably, he lent the venue in exchange for dwarven weapons or sothing. Even so, the Grandsands king is quite the businessman. He’s doing everything from gathering custors to selling things, as if trying to earn back his money."
"Selling?"
When I asked back, Gaia shrugged his shoulders and scoffed.
"He's selling dwarven weapons and armour in a flashy way. Normally, regular people don’t get to see dwarven weapons. So even within the magic academy, quite a lot of people have gathered."
