"Hick..."

"Dad..."

"P-Please..."

Her cries rang out over and over again as she curled up into a ball, sobbing uncontrollably.

Just how long has she been enduring this?

Not wanting to watch any longer, I took a few steps back and arrived in their living room.

I wasn’t sure how to feel.

I knew for a fact that I could just use my Lightning across a few hundred kiloters, teleport here, and snatch her away.

But then what?

What if Kai could track her?

More importantly, I had no way to turn her back into a human, since I had just recently found out people can turn into demons...

This whole situation was one big ss, and I had no idea how to deal with it.

Though, it’s pretty obvious Kai is using Vincent’s daughter as leverage.

After all... he weaponized Vincent’s hate against demons by literally turning his daughter into one.

I stared at the frad picture for a few seconds longer, then shook my head.

Closing my eyes, I cancelled my Mystic Eyes and felt the backlash due to how far I traveled.

But it was nothing serious.

Just a little eye strain.

I rubbed my eyes, and just then, soone knocked on the door.

Although I wished I had a bit more ti to gather my thoughts, I opened the door anyway.

To my surprise, it was Clentine, with several full bags and a massive smile on her face.

"I’m back~"

She gave a quick kiss on the cheek and passed by , putting all her bags onto the bed and glancing back at .

"It was fun. We got so food and a bunch of clothes. Cassie bought clothes, and I bought her food. That’s fine, right?"

I smiled.

"Yep. We have a lot of money, so don’t hesitate to spend it however you want."

Ah.

And this was the perfect ti to teach her about saving...

Shit.

Clentine let out a cheeky laugh and began sorting all the stuff she bought into her dinsional ring.

I wanted to tell her about what I found out.

But I also felt like with Kai around, revealing it was just too risky.

So I kept all the information to myself and helped her sort through her clothes.

And of course, I took all this ti to process my thoughts and what our next move should be.

For the next couple of hours, we pretty much just lazed around and ate so food.

And finally, when the sun began to set, both of us knew it was ti to et up with the others.

As we stepped out onto the street, Clentine interlocked her fingers with mine and then tilted her head.

"What do you think the pill is?"

"Hmm... Maybe a Gift enhancer?"

She whistled, understanding what I was getting at.

After another brief pause, she said sothing I wasn’t quite expecting.

"Do you think he was responsible for the descent?"

What?

I froze for a mont, glancing down at her.

Judging from her expression, she was completely serious.

I didn’t even entertain that thought at first...

I an, how can just one person turn two-thirds of the world into demons?

It’s impossible.

...Or is it?

"I don’t know..."

I lowered my head.

"Whatever it is... I believe and the others I told you about are responsible."

Though it was entirely possible he was involved as well...

As if I didn’t already have a bunch of things to think about.

Our walk continued in silence.

Eventually, we reached the sa inn where the six of us had eaten earlier, as this was the place we decided to et in.

When we entered, I was surprised to see that Vincent sat at one of the tables.

Maximillian and Jake were also here at the sa table as this morning.

But Cassie was missing.

Maximillian cleared his throat and said:

"She’ll be a little late. She always takes a few minutes extra to ditate before a fight. She’ll be here soon."

I nodded and sat down at the Vermillions’ table.

As much as I had hoped this to be so quiet ti, Maximillian didn’t feel the sa.

"I was going to ask you earlier, but what kind of swordsmanship was that at the end? I couldn’t even react to that attack. You kind of remind of my father."

I raised a brow.

"I remind you of your father?"

He let out a chuckle.

"My father always ended the fight by breaking my weapons. He also taunts afterwards, so I guess that’s where you differ."

What an oddball.

I felt like the more ti I spent in this world, the less social I beca.

Because I most definitely didn’t feel like matching this guy’s energy.

And amongst many other things, he threw another curveball at .

"What do you say to becoming sparring partners?"

"Now why would I do that?"

He chuckled again.

"That’s the beauty of it, eh? You don’t need a reason to spar against soone powerful. Though I won’t force you. After all, I’ll be very busy for the next few months."

Maximillian could barely hide his excitent as he began gently elbowing Jake.

Jake eventually gave in, rolled his eyes, and finally spoke.

"This dolt is getting married."

"Hahaha! Yeah, I am!"

He puffed out his chest.

"I thought I would get a pig since my father chose an arranged marriage for , but what do you know? I got a goddess who I had known since childhood."

He clearly sounded passionate about her.

And I was happy for him.

After all, marriage was special.

Sharing that special mont with soone close to your heart makes it even more special.

I couldn’t help but glance at Clentine as Maximillian began bragging about his marriage.

Nonetheless, it didn’t take long for the doors to the inn to burst open as Cassie walked inside, said a basic greeting, and sat down in the middle of the two Vermillions.

Her forehead was covered in sweat, so I guessed she did a lot more than ditation.

Anyhow, since we were all gathered, we could finally move out and set our plans into motion.

But just then, a nearby chair creaked as Vincent stood up and approached our table.

He pulled five white rings out of his pocket and circled the table, placing down a ring in front of each of us.

Then, a faint smile appeared on his face.

"These are Telepathy rings. It’ll allow us to communicate without needing to speak."

He raised his hand, showing the white ring on his middle finger.

Finally, his gaze swept over us again, lingering on for a little while longer.

"All the rings are linked, so if we want our plan to succeed, please put them on."
