I stepped over the headless paladins and stared at the giant door in front of .

It was the room where the pope usually stayed during his bi-yearly visit.

And now, it was the room where Kai and the others had gathered.

Was I nervous?

Definitely.

Was I afraid?

Definitely not.

Though I wasn’t overconfident enough to assu I could defeat Kai, even with Clentine’s help.

But stopping him from absorbing the Demon Transformation Pill was enough.

I turned to Clentine.

"Ready?"

She shrugged.

"Probably."

I let out a chuckle.

Then, I placed my hand on the giant door and pushed it open.

Unlike outside the room, the inside was nearly spotless.

The seats were all over the place, so even broken.

As for Kai and the others, they were at the far end of the room.

Kai sat atop the pedestal with one leg over the other.

The six assassins were behind him.

As for Vincent and the Vermillions, they were at the very front.

Seeing us, Kai’s smile widened as he waved our way.

"Ah! Mikael, Evangeline. I’m glad you two could make it."

I rolled my eyes and approached, stopping only a few ters away from Vincent and the Vermillions.

Then, I glanced up at Kai.

We stared at each other in silence for a few brief monts until I finally spoke.

"Did you really need to go through such theatrics just to fra us?"

He let out a chuckle.

"You gotta admit. It was pretty effective, wasn’t it? Vincent already sent out tens of scouts to report what kind of atrocities you two committed. In due ti, you’ll be hunted by the whole Western continent."

Jeez...

This guy’s voice is starting to piss off.

Just then, I spotted a faint crimson light coming from the pedestal.

Kai moved his leg slightly aside, revealing a glowing crimson marble, which was likely the Demon Transformation Pill.

I saw wisps of energy traveling from outside of the room and into the pill, likely fueling it with every death.

Not wasting any ti, I enveloped the pill with my Telekinesis.

But before I could even channel my energy properly, Kai sent out another raw pulse of energy, blasting back.

I skidded across the floor, only stopping once my heel hit the back of the door fra.

Frowning, I glanced back at Kai.

However, he was nowhere to be seen.

Only when I spotted the panicked look on Clentine’s face did I feel an ever-increasing pressure on the side of my head.

I reacted in the blink of an eye, turning myself into lightning and dashing toward the pedestal.

Yet to my surprise, the three Vermillions stepped up, blocking my path with hateful glares.

"Mikael. I thought we could be rivals, but soone as despicable as you... Why did you do all of this?"

"You believe him?" I deadpanned.

Cassie seed the sa, except her glare was shared between and Clentine.

Out of the three, Jake was the only one not staring at with hate, but rather confusion and a little bit of doubt.

"Hahahaha."

Kai’s laughter resounded from behind .

When I turned around to face him, he was already gone.

Yet a cough soon ca from atop the pedestal, and when I glanced ahead, Kai was there.

He was fast.

Way too fast for to handle normally.

Even Clentine, who had been trying her best to blend into the surroundings and find a chance to strike, was a little overwheld.

Just then, Kai pointed at .

"My family told about you."

"They did...?"

"Mhm."

He nodded, then crossed both his legs over the pedestal and grinned.

"While flying to this continent, they said they saw soone fighting in the ocean. He was using Telekinesis, Lightning, Pyrokinesis, and even the demonic form of lightning, Red Lightning."

He paused for a mont, his grin widening.

"That’s you, yes?"

"..."

While flying to this continent...

My eyes widened as I suddenly recalled the whole fight over the ocean.

It was brief, but when my lightning first descended, I caught a glimpse of pigeons flying through the sky.

I subconsciously forgot about them, since for a mont, I thought they were just pigeons.

But in this world, pigeons are simply beings referring to themselves as Angels who morph themselves into pigeons.

I explained this exact story to Clentine after Arch Priest Fivien told us that pigeons have begun frequenting this continent since last month.

All clues led to only one thing.

I t Kai’s gaze.

"You’re an Angel, aren’t you?"

Instead of answering my question, Kai slowly got off the pedestal and extended his hands.

He closed his eyes for a mont, and in the next instant, a pair of giant, glamorous pigeon-like wings burst from his back, changing the atmosphere of the whole room in less than a second.

The Vermillions were the most shocked, and to my surprise, Vincent’s eyes were also slightly wide.

Did he not know that Kai was an Angel?

"I’m surprised you know about us."

Kai flapped his wings once.

SHATTER!

The windows surrounding us shattered as powerful gusts of wind ca howling through the openings, coupled with the strong stench of blood.

"Now then, I suppose since we’re done with the introductions, I’ll begin with the reason why I told you to co here."

He folded his wings and sat back down on the pedestal.

"Help finish this Demon Transformation Pill, and I will let you two leave here alive."

I took a few steps back and exchanged a glance with Clentine.

"We’ll have to pass."

Instead of , it was Clentine who answered.

Kai tilted his head for a mont, then raised his hand.

Just then, a pale purple arc of energy appeared out of thin air and vanished.

Before my eyes could even pick up on it, I heard a slight groan beside , followed by Clentine’s body soaring through the air at several tis the speed of sound, tearing straight through the cathedral’s wall and ultimately hurtling down toward the city like an unconscious ragdoll, with only half of her body covered in diamonds.

But the other half seed like it was badly burnt.

Before her figure faded from my sight, the two of us locked eyes.

And that alone made an imasurable amount of rage well up in my chest as I blankly glanced back at Kai.

"Gosh..."

Kai let out a chuckle.

"I wasn’t exactly talking to you, you know?"

"..."

Suddenly, my field of vision increased severalfold as my vision turned vibrant.

Long crimson horns sprouted from my forehead, causing the Vermillions and even Vincent to step back.

Yet among them all, Kai was the only one who stepped forward, his wings sprouting as though he had regained his interest.

He smirked and opened his mouth.

But before he could even utter a single word, I focused on my extre reserve of energy, and with a single thought, I unleashed Pyrokinesis on everyone and everything in front of .
