Feeling the constant poking on my chest, face, and everywhere else, I opened my eyes with a slight frown.
"You know I’m just sleeping, right?"
Clentine exhaled a relieved breath and backed off.
"Thank god... Your injuries looked really bad, so I thought—"
"Let stop you right there," I interjected, and while using the tree as a crutch, I stood up.
Everything still hurt, but it wasn’t as bad as when I first landed.
With my regeneration alone, I was sure I could make a full recovery in a week or two.
"As you can see, I’m fine. The horns are a bit of a problem, but nothing a hat and so practice can’t fix."
She pouted slightly.
"You’re treating this like it’s not a big deal. Let alone your appearance, aren’t we being hunted by the Holy Knights now?"
I shrugged.
"We’re probably being hunted by the whole Western continent now. Every single city is going to be surrounded by Holy Order soldiers, and at best, they’ll start patrolling the skies too."
"I know that. But what happens after we’re done here?"
Ah.
That’s right.
We still needed to have a life.
But as it stood, no continent was safe. Changing our appearance wouldn’t do much either, as they had detection-type Gifts.
In the end, it seed like we had made an enemy of the whole world, both humans and demons.
Letting out a chuckle, I brushed Clentine’s hair.
"We’ll figure sothing out together."
I channeled a tiny bit of Red Lightning into my palm, cutting it open slightly.
Her brows twitched as she imdiately understood what I was getting at.
"I’m already healed up."
She spun around, showing her body.
"See? There’s not a single scratch on . As for you? Co on, Amon..."
I let out a sigh and licked off my own blood with a slight pout.
Then, the two of us chatted a little about our next steps, and of course, our main goal right now was to reach the healer.
Afterwards, we needed to drop off a couple of bodies to the Vermillions, and ultimately... we’d be able to head back ho, or try to, anyway.
So with that in mind, I flew up slightly, ready to start heading to the healer.
Yet instead of following , Clentine suddenly got up from under and picked up as though I was a child.
"...What are you doing?"
"You’re more injured than I am, so I’ll carry you."
Clentine...
"I’m not that injured."
"So what? Does it hurt you so much to be carried by ?"
Right as I was about to reply, I noticed a smile on her face.
She was teasing .
"Hehe."
"Don’t worry, I’ll let you stand on my Soul Weapons. I’ll take us very high up, so we might be able to make so distance and maybe even avoid the Holy Knights."
I exhaled a relieved breath, and once she let go, the two of us blasted off above the clouds.
Since the healer was far west... we had a long journey ahead of us.
***
A week flew by in the blink of an eye.
By now, my injuries had mostly healed, and my eyesight had returned to normal.
The only problem? I still looked like a demon.
Oh well...
I whistled to myself as I glanced at one of the cities ahead.
Clentine had changed her appearance and ran in to get us so more normal-looking clothes, and even a few hats.
It’s been nearly an hour, and I was getting a little worried.
But before I knew it, she phased out of the ground and smiled at .
"Got us so nice stuff. Also, I saw so powerful-looking people in the city. They seed to notice that I was using my Gift. Though, I don’t think they can track if I phase into the earth."
That was to be expected.
We narrowly dodged a few Holy Knights because of my Mystic Eyes.
Even so, I quickly switched into the clothes Clentine had bought and considered the progress we’d made.
We were around 70% of the way there.
This city was right by the mountain range we needed to enter.
The Pandora Mountain Range.
A mountain range which had extrely high mountains, as well as really weird weather.
Climbing 2,500 ters and seeing a never-ending desert with toxic rain was just the start of it.
More importantly, there were a bunch of high-Grade monsters, treasure hunters, and ancient human clans.
I didn’t rember much about the human clans, since they didn’t appear much in the ga.
But among common knowledge, apparently, the ancient human clans were way more developed than regular humans, both in technology and in combat.
As much as I doubted that, I simply adjusted my collar and put on the large hat which made look ridiculous, and even more like a demon than before.
So I tossed the hat inside one of my dinsional rings and nodded at her.
"Are you ready to keep going?"
As she was about to reply, I abruptly stepped forward and raised my hand, catching a flying dagger out of thin air.
SWISH!
Twisting my body around, I hurled it back where it ca from, boosting it with my Telekinesis.
The dagger slamd into tree after tree, cutting them cleanly, until finally arriving at the person who threw it.
Yet as the dagger was about to pierce the attacker, I suddenly stopped it, realizing just who it was that threw it.
Frowning, I turned into lightning and reappeared in front of the attacker, who was sprawled out on the ground with his eyes closed, fearing that the floating dagger would kill him.
It was a kid, probably 10 or 11 years old, with overly long black hair and shabby clothes.
For soone who could throw a dagger with that much power, he sure didn’t act like a kid.
Still, he was riddled with injuries, and he even had a chain around his neck.
A runaway slave?
"Mind telling who you are?"
The kid flinched, then gazed up at .
Once he saw my crimson horns, he turned pale.
"H-How the hell is a demon here? D-Don’t even try eating , or I’ll call my sister!"
Alright, bud.
"I’ll let the Vampire Empress talk in my stead, then."
I backed off and bowed in Clentine’s direction.
Noticing what I was doing, she rolled her eyes, but still decided to play along.
An evil smirk appeared on her face as she eventually approached the completely pale kid, then leaned down.
"What are you doing here, boy?"
