"That’s nice to hear," Elise said and finally eased up on the pressure.

Just then, everything I destroyed was suddenly reconstructed, and before long, even the dishes were back on the table.

"You have around 10 minutes left in this realm, so sit down and relax. You can also ask so questions if you want. I can answer so."

Hearing that, I imdiately sat down beside Elise, slightly surprising her.

"Oh? You’re pretty bold. Do you like or sothing?"

"I already have a girlfriend."

"Awh... Well, that sucks. Anyways, ask away, I guess."

She leaned back and crossed her legs.

"Okay. So for starters, what is this place?"

"It’s just a fancy realm I created in the past. I like the sky, and castles, and stuff. I can send my consciousness here freely, even though I’m sealed," Elise replied nonchalantly.

Almost too nonchalantly. I was expecting so kind of grand explanation.

"Who sealed you?"

"The gods. A group of humans too. They were called heroes, I think?"

She fell into thought for a mont, then nodded.

"Yeah. The heroes used the power of the gods and defeated us. The gods then sacrificed themselves to seal us away."

"..."

Okay.

Now I wasn’t really sure if what I’m doing is right.

If I were to unseal soone like that, who needed ’gods’ to seal them...

I really am triggering every death flag there is, aren’t I?

"Be honest with . What did you do to make them seal you?"

She narrowed her eyes slightly.

"As Divine Beasts, our role was to maintain peace. The demons were on the brink of extinction, so we made an offer to both sides to create an alliance. A world where humans and demons could live together."

"That’s what sparked all the hatred, as well as the sealing that followed."

That’s it?

I used my Blood Sight, and I knew she wasn’t lying. But I couldn’t trust her 100% since she’s not really a human.

Who knows how to tell apart the lies of an alien like that?

"Five minutes. Hurry up."

"Right."

I thought about it for a mont, then said:

"Is there any way to stop demons from descending into the human world?"

Elise smiled slightly.

"Do you want the optimistic answer, or the painfully truthful one?"

Before I could reply, she spoke up.

"Truth is, humanity’s been dood for centuries. You people consu demonic poison on a daily basis. Over ti, the poison interlaces with your genes, hence why so humans are born with unnatural affinities to demonic energy."

She pointed at .

"Like you, for example. I’m guessing you’ve always had such a high demonic energy affinity since you were born, right?"

"...That’s right."

Letting out a chuckle, she leaned back even further, nearly toppling over.

"Moral of the story is that you can’t really do much. Even if the Divine Beasts were to descend, we wouldn’t be able to save the humans."

"After all, every human is one droplet of demonic poison away from becoming a catalyst for the demons’ descent."

With that, silence descended over the dining hall.

I had a feeling the situation was bad, but hearing it from soone like her, I really felt like there was no hope for humanity.

The demons have deeply rooted themselves in our genetics for centuries. Even those barbarians I massacred...

All they probably did was drink so poison. Fast forward a month, and they were all pocket portals.

It’s horrific.

And even more horrific was the thought that by the ti Clentine and I reach the very end, there won’t be a world for us to live in anymore.

I leaned back as well and put a hand on my forehead.

"No point in grieving over it. Just find a quiet place to live with whoever you love, bear so children, and then watch your children bear children of their own. It’s not like those demons are going to descend anyti soon."

If only you knew...

"One minute left. I doubt I can answer any solid question, so just ask sothing fast."

I slowly t her gaze.

"If I were to unseal you and the others, will you destroy the world, or continue your roles as Divine Beasts?"

Elise’s smile widened.

"I never thought about freedom, so I guess I can’t answer that question. All you should know is that the heroes whom my grudge is directed toward have likely already died."

"To seal us away, they had to use the demonic realm’s energy too, since the gods’ energy wasn’t enough. In the climax of our sealing, the heroes were sucked inside the Demon Realm."

The seconds ticked down, and yet, my mind had suddenly begun to race.

When a death flag is already present, hearing sothing like this coming from the mouth of soone so ancient is a very bad sign.

Especially since I recall Kevin’s journey in the Demon Realm.

Ti passes slower there, and because of the dark, demonic energy in the air, you either suffocate and die or slowly demonize.

If these people were as strong as Elise has been saying, then I’m guessing they’re still alive.

I let out a sigh, realizing ti and ti again that the more information I gain, the more helpless the situation appears.

But at least now I know that if I were to free the Eldritch monsters, they would have soone to fight instead of lashing out at humanity.

In a way, it was good.

As for what happens after they’re done?

Not sure...

"10 seconds. Want a kiss on the cheek from a beautiful lady such as myself?"

"I told you I’ve got a girlfriend. Also, are you even a lady? That form earlier didn’t seem very ladylike."

"I’ll have you know, I care for my tentacles dearly. If you thought that wasn’t ladylike, then I’m afraid your partner has a real big crybaby on her hands."

I rolled my eyes at her words. Just then, I felt as though a sudden wave of nausea washed over , causing to faceplant directly into the cooked turkey on the table.

"Be sure to complete your contract~ When you’re done, I’ll transfer the technique straight into your mind."

As my consciousness began to fade, I saw Elise’s wide smirk.

"Bye now~"
