"My... Aren’t you a clever one?"
William leaned back in his chair as a giant smirk appeared on his face.
"How’d you find out?"
It’d be silly of not to find out.
"Demons wouldn’t cooperate with humans, especially when it cos to handing out power. Demons don’t do that. Especially Demon Kings."
"But if that Demon King was the one who started this whole project, then that makes a lot more sense, doesn’t it?"
William whistled.
"That’s true. At least your head’s screwed on straight. But I’m a little more curious about the first thing you said."
Right...
"Honestly? I just guessed."
And that was the truth.
In the end, had I guessed wrong, he would’ve just shrugged it off.
If I guessed right...
"Haha... Hahaha..."
"I see. Amon Everness, I have thought too lowly of you, it appears," William said.
Finally, he stood up and fixed his posture. Not to ntion, he had also stopped holding back his energy, allowing it to flow freely. The energy suppressed mine completely and even made it hard for to breathe.
But I didn’t back down in the slightest as I stood my ground and stared back into his eyes.
That, in turn, made him take more seriously.
"I doubt you rember the contract we’ve made all those years ago, but you should rember the one we’ve made half a year ago, do you not?"
At his question, I just paused, recalling the first ti we t.
I fell asleep in the carriage, and then I dreamt of our eting. I couldn’t rember our conversation, since my mind beca hazy after he asked if I wanted to form a contract with him.
But if that was what he was referring to, then I really had no idea.
And as if sensing that, William let out a sigh.
"In exchange for tossing you in that forest, you promised that you’d cooperate with to send down one wave of demons."
"No I didn’t."
I took a step forward.
"No version of would make such a stupid contract."
Right as William was about to reply, rilyn chid in.
"That’s enough wasting ti. Everyone’s in formation, William."
He nodded.
"You heard her. We’re all ready to move, so now cos my question, Amon."
"Your gaze tells you hate demons. I understand that. I was the person who massacred your family, after all. Still, in life, you must put aside your differences and look at the broader perspective."
A deathly silence hung in the air for a few short monts until finally he approached , towering over .
"Humans hate you. Demons love you. What happens if demons get defeated? Do you believe you’ll be praised as a hero? Statues would be built for you?"
"No. Humans will continue to hate you. Your children will be hunted. Your children’s children will be hunted also. In the end, the humans will stop at nothing to erase your dangerous bloodline. That much, I can assure you of."
Haha.
"Well, if humans try to kill and my family, I’ll just have to wipe them out myself, won’t I?"
William froze for a mont.
"Did I mishear that? Pfft. You’re more like us than you care to admit."
With that, it seed like our small talk was finished.
rilyn narrowed her eyes slightly, and as for the man by the window, he turned around, subtly glancing at .
Just then, I felt the ground tremble slightly. At first, I didn’t think much of it, since my energy couldn’t detect anything outside of the room. However, I quickly realized that the whole room was covered in Telekinesis.
Not wasting even a second, I activated my Mystic Eyes and slamd against the Telekinetic Barrier. Since it was erected by none other than William, it was unbelievably sturdy. So much so that even while I was pushing myself, I didn’t feel the barrier budge.
But I quickly rembered the energy I had absorbed recently. The energy which was incredibly similar to that of a black hole, and the sa energy that reacted to Alexius’s energy.
I decided to try infusing it into my Mystic Eyes, and to my genuine surprise, it not only enhanced my field of view, but it also exponentially increased my control.
And so now, as I focused on that very sa Telekinetic Barrier, I drilled a hole clean through it, shattering the barrier whole. William’s eyes widened in surprise, and even rilyn could barely hold back her gasp at what I had just done.
Yet having broken the barrier, I was t with the cruel reality of what was happening on the outside while I was chatting in here leisurely.
AAAAAAAAAH!
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Help—AHHHHH!
"..."
Dreadful flas engulfed the palace whole, and even while I was inside this protected room, I could feel them.
A pit ford in my chest as I once again realized how little these demons cared about anyone but themselves.
But then again...
I would be lying if I said I didn’t see this coming.
Why else would he take here, other than to try scrambling my brain, killing , or keeping away from the battle?
But thankfully, with my Mystic Eyes, I managed to catch glimpses of my party. Kevin was dashing from one end of the room to another, slaying demon barons left and right. Even if a Viscount passed by him, he cut it down fearlessly.
And doing that with so random dull blade was impressive, considering he had learned Sword Intent just days ago.
On the other hand, lina was even more impressive. Instead of her usual way of just waving her hand around and spouting random words, she was lodically chaining together word after word, forming sentences that made it seem as though she was just singing a song.
But the reality was much different. Every sentence she spoke killed hordes of demons, and each tear she sohow shed revived the dead.
She had reached a whole new level, and all that while basically being beaten and treated as Clentine’s maid for a whole week.
And lastly, Isabelle, who impressed on the sa level as lina.
Her frost powers were enhanced several fold, and if that wasn’t enough, every ti she was in danger, one of her five Guardians swooped in, saving her and countering with an attack of their own, effortlessly killing any demon in sight.
And all the while, because of the energy she had ingested from , her energy capacity was barely moving. She was a killing machine, and soone who overshadowed the original Isabelle in the canon tiline several tis over.
Clentine, on the other hand, was just a whole different being compared to the others. No one could approach her, and with every demon that was killed, it beca a part of her endless Soul Army, which sohow seed to have grown ever stronger as opposed to last week.
In short...
I had nothing to worry about.
So instead of approaching the door and going back out to help her and the others, I chose to seal the Telekinetic Barrier back up.
Then, as I took one deep breath, I turned around and faced William.
