By the ti I arrived at the edge of Lavos, I had finished reading the book. Not only that, I had completely morized it.
Honestly? I thought I was a dumbass.
I was never really the best at studying, so I thought this would take a few weeks or sothing. Maybe because of my Mystic Eyes, I managed to rember every word after reading it just once.
In short, all I really needed to do now was to get a few materials and enchant the rings.
Anyhow...
The mont I reached the edge of Lavos, I was imdiately t with the sll of blood. It was strong, and the odor made my skin crawl. But despite the sll, the country of Lavos looked strangely human.
There were so settlents down below, and even so people, or rather, demons walking around. Unlike the usual demons I’m used to seeing, these ones weren’t violent. Instead, they acted just like humans.
Talked like humans, laughed like humans, ate like humans...
It almost made believe that there was actually hope for peace... made believe that what the Divine Beasts were searching for way back then was actually possible.
But then again, they had just descended their whole army onto the humans, killing millions.
...I wasn’t planning on forgiving them.
Nonetheless, I continued flying ahead, as the eting place was right by the ocean, in the capital of Lavos, Tolor.
But not even a minute later, I spotted the source of the stench of blood. It was a small forest in the middle of nowhere, and the trees were made completely out of human spines. The branches were as well.
And yet, at the very bottom, there were struggling humans. So of them were still alive, but with their bodies rotting and them bleeding out to death... they’d soon contribute to the forest of bones.
It was grueso, and with so much flesh and blood belonging to humans littering the ground in red, I felt like wiping the whole place off the map.
But I didn’t.
Instead, I took a deep breath and, with a single thought, ended the life of the person who was struggling by just snapping their neck. Afterwards, I continued flying with a cold look on my face.
Just a few minutes later, I saw the outline of a towering city atop a large mountain. There were castles, several dozen towers, and even a few demons standing guard, carefully scanning for anyone even getting close to Tolor.
Honestly?
With the city being atop a mountain, it looked a little vulnerable. What if soone were to just chop the mountain in half? Would the capital literally fall just like that?
I’d love to believe that they had so failsafes here, but... I bet they thought that no one would be brave enough to actually cut the mountain in half.
Rightfully so, though, since the mont I got close enough to the city, I saw a several-hundred-ter-tall black portal that had sohow escaped my perception earlier.
It was made entirely out of Demonic Energy, and with demons coming in and out of it, I knew that this portal was none other than the portal straight to the Demon Realm.
Wait...
The eting’s not going to be happening inside the Demon Realm, is it?
I froze for a mont, considering that a possibility. But just then, the giant gates of Tolor opened, and through them, several demon guards stepped out. They weren’t too powerful, only Demon Barons.
Since most demons despised humans, no one here was in their human forms. Because of that, these guards that approached looked just like a couple of skinny dark demons with a pair of black wings sticking out of their backs.
They could obviously alter their forms to not look as ugly, but the majority thought that this made them look more fearso to others.
And clearly, that sense of fearsoness also gave them an ego, since when the demon barons saw , they scoffed at my appearance.
"You dare show up here in your human form? Do you take us for a bunch of fools?"
"Kekeke... Maybe he doesn’t know how to turn yet? For all we know, this might just be a little demonic pup."
I rolled my eyes at their stupid insults. Just then, a woman stepped out from the back, and that woman was none other than rilyn. The mont the demon barons saw her, they froze like statues.
...She didn’t even use her charm on them.
"Hello Amon. Wilhelm told to co pick you up, else you’d wander around."
Wilhelm is William’s realm na? Huh.
rilyn paused for a mont, then looked around .
"...Is he here?"
I let out a sigh.
"If you’re talking about that telekinetic, then he’s already dead."
When she heard that, her brows twitched and she clenched her fists in anger. Despite that, she held herself back from doing anything drastic and instead turned toward the city.
"Follow ."
She was acting really cold.
I wasn’t sure if it was because I’d cut off her head last ti, or because she had a crush on that telekinetic. But to have a crush on a human as a succubus... that’s pretty rough.
Had he still been alive and not a part of Clentine’s army, I’d feel bad for him. After all, succubi were like human-sized mosquitoes. But instead of blood, they drain n until they’re nothing but skeletons.
On the bright side, I put him out of his misery.
On the bad side, I now had an annoying succubus as my enemy.
Anyhow, I glanced over at the frozen demon barons, then entered the city. The gate closed after , and soon enough, I was on the busy streets of Tolor.
There were a bunch of rchants, and even carriages. The carriages weren’t being dragged by horses, though. Instead, they were dragged by weak demons who were being whipped over and over again.
Slavery was a big part of demon culture, and while I find it repulsive, no one really cares about my opinion here.
The food looked pretty edible too. Mainly seafood, though. There were a few potatoes here and there, but no one really bought them.
Still, with my appearance being that of a human’s, and everyone looking like demons, the amount of strange looks I got was a bit overwhelming. It got to the point where I decided to just play along.
So in the next instant, I focused on the energy in my heart and then brought it up to my forehead. It was my first ti doing this, but to my surprise, it was almost like I had a foldable pair of crimson horns that ca out the mont I infused so energy into them.
There was just a teeny tiny issue...
The horns were long, thick, and they even spiraled slightly. They looked way too fancy, and if anything, I looked like a Demon King now, more than just a regular demon.
In short, I was attracting more of an audience than before.
Sighing deeply, I continued following after rilyn, who didn’t even try to turn around and talk to . In fact, she had a thin barrier of demonic energy behind her, keeping even a single one of my breaths from reaching her.
I honestly felt a little bad, but then again, once I realized where she was taking , I was forced to stop.
In front of , there was a giant staircase, on which hundreds, if not thousands, of demons walked up and down. And more importantly, at the very top of this staircase was the portal to the Demon Realm.
But maybe...?
"Are we having a eting near the portal?"
"Inside."
Ah.
I’m screwed.
