"Chin up, and straighten your back. From here on, no one down there is your superior, except your retainer," rilyn said.
Her voice still contained that sa trace of sadness, and I knew that it was because she really did have sothing going with Amon.
Despite that, I did what she said, and after we were both ready, she led toward the guards. Once they saw us, they imdiately bowed.
"Greetings, you two. Would you like one of us to escort you to the venue?"
rilyn nodded.
"Yep. You can be the one to lead us."
The demon in question was just so random Demon Duke who was dressed in casual clothes. Still, he had so armor on him, such as leather shoulders and even plate boots.
Not that they would help him, though, if I were to crush his core right now.
"Very well, follow then."
With that, he bowed and began leading us into the courtyard of all the combined palaces. Then, after double-checking what he had written down in his pocket, he picked the seemingly ordinary small palace and took us there.
Once we entered, I was surprised to see that the small palace was actually under restoration. The halls were ripped open, and new wallpaper was being added. Not to ntion, all the jewelry and gold were stashed off to the side without much thought.
After just a few more minutes, we arrived in front of so room, and once we entered, I saw a cloak right by the side. Not only that, there was an edgy white face mask that would hide my facial features.
I paused for a mont, then turned to rilyn and the Duke.
"Is this eting held in secrecy?"
The Demon Duke nodded.
"It’s not mandatory, but the retainers did say that the saviors should wear so cover-up."
So if I wanted to, I could just avoid taking it.
To be fair, I’ll take it just because... And it’s not like it really mattered. With my Telekinesis, I could scan the face of anyone, even if they had a mask. I’d get a really good image of their face, and I’d then be able to find them regardless of where they were.
But for starters, I decided to just go up and put on the cloak. It was one of those cloaks you just put over your head, and it covers your whole body all around. I was a little bit skeptical that this was just so curtain soone had taken down, since the cloth was very thin.
As for the mask, it was a little bit better. It was made of porcelain, and with a small hole where my mouth was, as well as two holes for the eyes, it was pretty comfortable. It didn’t have straps or anything either. It just connected to my energy whenever it got close to my face and latched on.
If I wanted to take it off, all I needed to do was just disconnect my energy from the mask. Simple enough.
Also... It automatically adjusted to my horns. Since mine were pretty big and fancy, the very top of the porcelain mask had a strange dotted pattern, followed by an invisible exit for my horns, making sure they didn’t ss up the mask itself.
Once I was done with the dress-up, I turned toward the Demon Duke and rilyn, then nodded.
"Everything good to go?"
"Looks like it," rilyn said.
The Demon Duke also gave a quick thumbs up.
"I can take you to your retainer now. You’re the last one to arrive, so once the retainer confirms your arrival, the saviors will be able to et."
I tilted my head slightly.
"Is this a eting between the saviors, or the retainers?"
The Demon Duke was about to answer, but rilyn raised her hand, stopping him. Then, she narrowed her eyes at slightly.
"You’re not allowed to ask."
"Won’t I know in a few minutes anyway?"
"You will. But you can’t know now."
I rolled my eyes.
"Then why do you know?"
"Because I’m rilyn."
Right...
The Demon Duke knew as well. That much was obvious. Well, whatever they were hiding from , I couldn’t care less. In the end, all I wanted was to get this over and done with, then sohow safely escape, if need be.
After all, despite all the flowery words, I still felt like Wilhelm wouldn’t have let be here, especially after knowing what I did to Alexius.
So with that in mind, and everything else done and over with, I gave the two of them one final nod. With that, rilyn and the Demon Duke led outside, then to another room that was practically on the other end of the small palace.
And once we arrived, the Demon Duke bowed deeply and left. As for rilyn, she stood in front of the door, and while leaning against it, looked up and down.
"What’s your actual na?"
Right as I was about to reply, she said:
"And not Amon. I don’t want to hear Amon. I don’t want your other identity, Mikael, either. I want the real na of whoever you are, because I know for a fact you’re not Amon."
I stared at her for a mont, then let out a sigh.
She was very troubleso.
But I could also feel that her sadness was genuine.
The sadness for the relationship she had, and the sa relationship she realized she had lost.
Honestly...
"I can’t tell you."
"Why not?"
I shrugged.
"I don’t rember my na."
And that was the truth.
My life before... It’s starting to feel like a blur.
I rember most details, as well as what happened, but my childhood is starting to get blurry.
The only mories that, for so reason, remain the most vivid are those of this ga, All Routes Lead To Death!
With my words resting in the air, I used my Telekinesis to gently push rilyn aside.
She was too lost in thought to even notice that I had moved her.
But right as I placed my hand on the doorknob, she turned to and said:
"I hope the day cos when you recall everything."
With that, she finally left.
As I stared at her departing figure, I couldn’t help but be a little conflicted by what she had just said.
But I also knew that I had nothing to latch onto, as I had no knowledge of Amon and rilyn’s past.
So after I was done contemplating her words, I took a deep breath and twisted the doorknob.
