At his words, the backs of every single savior, including myself, straightened. Not to ntion, a great deal of relaxation washed over , drowning out all the uncomfortable sensations I felt a mont ago.

And just a few seconds after the eting began, the first person spoke up.

That person was none other than Kai, whose words were directed at .

"How’s it going, hot stuff? I’m honestly surprised you survived after all that happened. I had half expected you to look disfigured after what happened in our last eting."

I tilted my head slightly.

"You an the eting where I beat your ass and you had no choice but to self-destruct?"

"Hey, don’t bla the player, bla the ga. The only reason I self-destructed was because, had I not done that, the Demonic Core you destroyed would’ve killed . Expelling my energy and drawing in other energy saved my life and granted imnse power. I forgot to thank you for that, actually."

He was still as arrogant as ever, I see.

"Forgot Vincent?"

"Nope~ His term is over. He can do whatever he wants. On that note, did you think I wouldn’t notice you snooping around his house? Do you want to know the truth?" Kai said.

Before I could reply, his smile widened as he said:

"Vincent’s not really the man you believe. He’s like an onion, you know? The layer everyone sees is his evil layer. The second layer, after you get to know him better, is the layer where he’s a loving father who’s trying his hardest for his daughter. It almost makes you sympathize with him."

"But the last layer? Imagine my surprise when a man ca up to and groveled on his knees for to turn his daughter into a human. I was very confused, since he’s the one who chose to fuck a demon, no? Why would I be the one to damage control?"

He started blabbering about his life, while on the other hand, I filtered out the important information. For one... If what he’s saying is the truth, then Vincent’s daughter had always been a demon.

But how can that be? I rember checking his house out and seeing several dozen childhood pictures. She hasn’t always been a demon... right?

"Ah, by the look on your face, I can kind of tell what you’re thinking. Getting your hands on an altered picture and blasting your daughter’s brain with the idea that she’s abnormal, and she should be a human since he’s human is a pretty easy thing to do, you know?"

At his words, I just stared at him for a mont, unsure of what to say. I had always thought of Vincent as so noble knight who took every breath for his daughter.

...But it turned out that was all for himself, just so he could satisfy his own selfishness and insecurity.

What a shitty person.

Moving aside her long white hair to keep it from getting into her eyes, the woman beside said:

"Why not turn the daughter back? It’s not like that should be a hard thing for you to do?"

Kai raised a brow.

"Aren’t you that White Bitch Lena who practices necromancy?"

"White Witch Lana," she corrected without batting an eye. "And yes, I’m a necromancer. Now answer my question."

He grumbled slightly, then replied:

"Humph. Well, I might look like a demon, but I’m actually an angel. I have so good in , I think. As I was about to turn her into a human, I asked her if that’s what she really wanted."

"And she said she didn’t want to beco a human?" Lana asked.

"Of course not. She said she wanted to think about it, so I said I’ll co back in a few months and ask again," Kai replied plainly.

Aha...

"You’re pretty soft for soone who wears such holy wings. Had I been in your position, I would’ve forced her to make a choice. Otherwise, I’d just be wasting my ti."

He clicked his tongue.

"Well, unlike you, who was born a human, my lifespan’s nearly infinite. I don’t have the concept of wasting ti. I only have the concept of spending ti. And the way I choose to spend my ti is by being lazy. What’s wrong with that?"

Right as she was about to reply, I chid in:

"Had you been less lazy, your plans back in the Harper Citadel would’ve gone a bit more smoothly, don’t you think?"

Kai rolled his eyes.

"For the weakest person present, you sure are talking a lot of shit. Why don’t we step outside and rekindle the flas of our previous battle? Except this ti, I’d actually be trying to kill you."

I scoffed at him. Right as I was about to genuinely accept his offer, though, the kid beside spoke up:

"Liam says no fighting."

Hmm?

"Little imp, if we’ve triggered a trauma, I’m sure the White Bitch is more than happy to give you a breast to suckle on," Kai replied.

Lana didn’t bat an eye. In the sa manner, the kid seed unhinged as well.

"Liam says if you two fight, he will be forced to kill you both."

"Humph. You really do need one good spanking. Hey Amon, you’re sitting a bit closer to him. Mind giving him two spanks for good asure?"

"I’ll pass."

Then, I glanced over to the kid who kept referring to himself as Liam.

His expression was pretty blank, and when I tried to focus on his energy, the only thing I could really feel was the fact that there were two energies swirling inside his heart. One was really weak, maybe energy belonging to a Grade 20. However, the second energy was far greater.

I couldn’t feel the extent of that energy, but I knew that it was at least on the level of a Demon King.

So by that logic, this kid is soone I should probably not ss with.

And while Kai didn’t seem to give much of a shit and instead continued to barrage the kid with so random questions, including basic math questions, I was more interested in the only person who hadn’t chid in yet.

It was the man sitting right beside Kai. Unlike the rest of us, he was much older. In fact, by human standards, he was well over 70 years old.

But unlike us, he was the only one confidently parading his weapon... which was none other than a butcher’s knife?
