"Excuse ?" I muttered, confused.

On the other hand, the others shared the sa confusion. Especially the retainers, who all looked as though they had seen a ghost.

"Excuse ? Ren, I know you’re my superior and all, but we abide by the rules, don’t we? You set up this whole program, so how dare you try to weasel your way into getting one of the saviors?" Wilhelm said coldly.

Ren tilted his head slightly.

"Wilhelm, the only reason you are still alive is because I spared you after the ti you betrayed . Now, as for my decision, isn’t it obvious?"

He glanced over at .

"Raise your hand if you’ve ever seen a being do what he just did. Eliminating your presence is a difficult task, and it took nearly two years of practice to be able to completely erase my presence. Amon did it in re minutes."

Afterwards, he let out a sigh.

"You all have your own say in this, of course. But I just believe that leaving soone this talented in the hands of a re Demon King is a waste of talent. Wilhelm, you’ve already given him your father’s Telekinesis technique, and aside from these little etings, have you ever gone out of your way to actually train him?"

Despite the pressure he was exuding, Wilhelm didn’t back down.

"With all due respect, aside from authority, you have nothing else going for you. You’re powerful, but you don’t have the ans to train Amon, as your Gifts are practically polar opposites. So once again, Ren. Mind your business."

It almost looked like sparks were flying between the two, but deep down, I was glad they were taking everyone’s attention, since in the anti, I was able to take a few shallow breaths and continue enduring the pain from my own consequences.

However, as I glanced toward the other saviors, I was surprised that while everyone else was focused on the clash between Ren and Wilhelm, Lana and Kai were staring at .

Seeing my pale expression, wide smiles appeared on their faces. I wasn’t sure why that was the case, since it’s not like they found out a massive secret of mine.

Though that didn’t an I should lower my guard any less. Especially since the Heavenly Butcher was also staring right at with interest.

"Why don’t we settle this the old-fashioned way, then?" Ren said.

He took out a single silver coin from his dinsional ring and placed it on the table. Then, he slamd the table, causing the coin to launch upward, spin several tis, and eventually land on heads.

"Five spins, and heads," Ren said.

Wilhelm frowned.

"Do you seriously want to settle it this way?"

"Of course. That’s how most of our argunts are solved, after all."

I rembered this ga as well.

It was similar to just flipping the coin and picking heads or tails, except now, it was like an infinite ga of chance.

If soone were to flick the coin and make it spin three tis as well as land on heads, then the next person needed to make the coin flip four tis and land on tails.

Basically, if it lands on heads, the first person who threw the coin would win. They would also win if the incrent that the spins increase is higher than one. It was a stupid ga, and it beca even more obvious as I watched them quickly play it.

They went back and forth, the number of spins increasing drastically. Their luck was especially good, especially for those who didn’t use any energy to influence the coin’s rotation.

But despite that, they kept going and going for the next several minutes, until eventually.

"Ha. You lose," Ren said.

Wilhelm clicked his tongue and then turned to .

"What do you think about all of this?"

I pondered over it for a mont, then said:

"I don’t want to succeed anyone. But I’m not soone who’d refuse free training and power-ups."

Ren’s smirk widened.

"That’s the spirit. So then, would you like to take over as your retainer? In the anti, Wilhelm can beco your squad mate, since the saviors have an uneven number."

Hearing that, I froze for a mont. At first, I thought that when he said that we should get friendly with one another, he just really wanted to prepare us for so event in the future that would need all of us to be there.

But from what I understood now, he just wanted to create squads of two people, plus two retainers.

"You want a Demon King to beco the squad mate of soone? Didn’t we agree that it’s too early for us to intervene?" Wilhelm asked.

Ren just brushed him off. "It’s whatever. We’ll talk after the eting’s over."

Then, he glanced past at the other saviors.

"As you might’ve already guessed, you’ll all be assigned a mission. You’ll need to get in teams of two."

"I’ll be with Lana then," Kai said imdiately.

Lana nodded. "I’d like to form a team with him as well."

Ren smiled. "Very well, then Liam and Sylas can be the other team. But sadly, that’s not the only reason I held this eting today."

He stood up and walked to the other side of the table. Tapping the table once, he said:

"Truth be told, the five of you will be participating in a raid alongside a group of Evangelists. There’s been reports of a powerful group of humans gathering in the center of the Western continent."

My brows furrowed, both at the fact that the demons had actually allied with Evangelists already and the fact that he’s expecting to kill humans.

And as if noticing that, he imdiately turned to .

"Amon, since your conscience is still that of a human, I have gathered a briefing of so of the people you’ll be tasked to deal with."

With that, he took out a single docunt from his dinsional ring and pushed it across the table toward .

"Have a look."
