When Li Liangfei found out the news that day, he wanted to visit the Dingping Production Team. However, he was a cautious person and never fought an unprepared battle, so he spent the last few days getting to know Yi Roujing, only to find out she was Ding Ancheng’s wife.

Who was Ding Ancheng? Since he beca the Secretary of the Tongxian Commune, he was the first well-known college student from there. Although in recent years the college students were mostly worker-peasant-soldier students, he was the first in the entire Huaixi County to be admitted to Jing University. At that ti, he was nad and praised by the county, so I rembered him vividly.

After graduating, Ding Ancheng went to teach at the County First Middle School. This year, he led his students to win first place in the provincial mathematics competition and will go to Jing City to participate in the national mathematics competition in a few days. He’s a remarkable figure, so after thorough preparation, Li Liangfei ca personally.

Accompanying Li Liangfei was Li Yonghu, his real nephew. Otherwise, how could he beco a regular employee at the commune?

Li Yonghu received a glance from Li Liangfei and took out a banner sent from the provincial bureau. It was red with golden characters: "To Comrade Yi Roujing of the Dingping Production Team, Tongxian Commune: the woman who does not let n outshine her, comnded for bravery in doing righteousness," with the Jiang Province Public Security Bureau as the signer.

"Wow—" This signer startled a bunch of people.

When Li Liangfei received the banner that was delivered overnight, he trembled with excitent. He knew this was just the beginning. Since the Provincial Public Security Bureau had co forward to comnd, the county and city would definitely not fall behind. At that ti, he, Li Liangfei, would be responsible for the reception.

"Comrade Yi Roujing’s brave deeds are worth learning from for all of us. Today, I specially ca on behalf of the commune to thank Comrade Yi Roujing. She brought honor to our commune."

Ding Xiaoding was also happy. He thought the matter was closed when Officer Hao’s family ca to thank them before. He didn’t expect the main event was just beginning. "Secretary Li, these are Yi Roujing’s parents-in-law and second uncle."

Li Liangfei warmly shook hands with the three and praised their family tradition. Li Yonghu added that he was a classmate of Ding Anguo and had known he was a good person before.

After delivering an impassioned speech, under Ding Xiaoding’s guidance and surrounded by many from the Dingping Production Team, Li Liangfei went to visit Yi Roujing’s ho.

When Ding Anmin opened the courtyard door that was just knocked, she was dumbfounded to see the crowd outside.

"Secretary Li, this is Comrade Yi Roujing’s sister-in-law, Ding Anmin. Eh, and there cos Comrade Yi Roujing." Ding Xiaoding introduced cheerfully, and when he saw Yi Roujing coming out from the house, his voice suddenly beca high-pitched.

Yi Roujing watched as the team leader respectfully ushered in a middle-aged man dressed in a blue shirt and black trousers, with a neat and shiny side-parted hairstyle. Her eyes imdiately fell upon the banner in the hands of the commune clerk, Li Yonghu, who she had seen before. Her na was prominently displayed on it, with the Provincial Public Security Bureau as the signer.

There was nothing she didn’t understand; it must have been arranged by Heping’s family. However, she couldn’t show it and instead displayed the right amount of surprise.

"Team Leader," Yi Roujing greeted with a smile.

"Comrade Yi Roujing, this is Secretary Li of our Tongxian Commune," Ding Xiaoding introduced.

"So, it’s Secretary Li. Hello, hello." Yi Roujing appeared as if she recognized Li Liangfei, full of warmth and respect, which deepened the smile on Li Liangfei’s face.

"Hello, Comrade Yi Roujing, and Ancheng is here too." Li Liangfei noticed Ding Ancheng coming out of the kitchen, his smile even brighter, reaching out to pat Ding Ancheng’s arm.

"Secretary Li," Ding Ancheng spoke with his usual calm deanor, to which Li Liangfei seed unsurprised.

"Ancheng, you’ve married a good wife, a genuinely warm-hearted comrade..." Li Liangfei praised, making Yi Roujing blush slightly beside him.

But the commune didn’t co empty-handed. They gave Yi Roujing an envelope, and anyone could see it contained money. Li Liangfei was efficient, stating directly, "The commune has limited financial resources and awards Comrade Yi Roujing five yuan, an enal mug, and a towel as encouragent."

"I am so grateful to the commune for encouraging . I will continue to uphold our good traditions and, under your leadership, Secretary Li, strive to be a good comrade for the country and the people." Yi Roujing naturally had to express her thoughts to justify these rewards, speaking fluently.

Li Liangfei led the applause, and of course, those around followed suit.

"Comrade Yi Roujing, regarding this banner, you see... If it is displayed in the commune, it can be seen by more people, inspiring others to learn from Comrade Yi Roujing, so..."

Yi Roujing understood instantly and spoke boldly, "Secretary Li, you are so right. I also think that displaying the banner in the commune would better serve its purpose. I’ll leave it to you to handle that."

Li Liangfei laughed heartily, as it was always easier to talk with smart people.

"You’ve found yourself a good wife," Gu Shizhao, now standing next to Ding Ancheng, remarked. "She’s smart, look at our Secretary so pleased with her."

"When do you plan to tell her? The person is already at ho," Ding Ancheng glanced toward Ding Anmin’s room, and Gu Shizhao imdiately knew; Xia Xingchen had moved in.

"Thanks, I should wait until I can go back to explain." Gu Shizhao gave a wry smile.

"I didn’t understand before, but I feel that if so things miss their timing, you’ll regret it," Ding Ancheng said seriously. "If you don’t make a move and soone else gets ahead, you’ll regret it."

"So if I say sothing now and scare her away, will you compensate ?" Gu Shizhao rolled his eyes.

"You can’t just leave no trace. If you don’t make it clear, who will care about you?" Ding Ancheng teased, "Usually, you’re so shaless, but now you’re trying to save face."

"So that’s how you got the sister-in-law to agree," Gu Shizhao retorted.

Ding Ancheng gave Gu Shizhao a look, and he stopped talking.

After everything was settled, Li Liangfei didn’t stay long. He praised Ding Xiaoding and the Dingping Production Team and then left, with Gu Shizhao following suit.

But right before leaving, Xia Xingchen ca out of the house. Gu Shizhao, as if feeling sothing, turned around and looked deeply for quite a while until Xia Xingchen lowered her head before he left.

"Wow, the commune is too kind. Five yuan, and this enal mug and towel, both hard to co by," said Ding Anmin excitedly after everyone had left.

"If you like them, you can use them," Yi Roujing replied indifferently.

"No, these are for you. You should keep them yourself," Ding Anmin shook her head firmly.

After being comnded, it was indeed different. In the afternoon, on her way to work, many people greeted Yi Roujing, inquiring about the details, all enthusiastic in attitude.

Being famous was a burden too, as Yi Roujing felt a bit constrained.

After dinner, Yi Roujing started seriously looking through the things brought back from the provincial city. There were three bags: one was food, which had already been processed by Li Hongying before.

The other two bags, one contained food items like milk powder, malt extract, milk candy, canned goods; the other, slightly smaller bag, held fabrics, including cotton and Dacron.
