Orthopedic expert in Jing City, Yi Roujing had heard about this matter. She heard that a friend of Mr. Chen, who was hoping for better collaboration between hospitals, was involved.

"How did Lou Wenjian injure his leg? Was it not treated well at the ti?" Yi Roujing asked.

"The injury happened during his military service, and it was quite severe. The doctor at the ti said there might be sequelae." Hu Ailing’s face was full of heartache, "Back then, Lou had a fiancé, but upon hearing that his injury was serious and he might be disabled, she planned to call off the engagent when he returned from the military."

"Lou and that girl had known each other since childhood, theirs was a well-matched union, and Lou was very fond of her. At that ti, his leg was still in treatnt, and the breakup affected him emotionally, leading to delays in his recovery."

To be hurt by love, indeed. The book didn’t detail it this specifically, since it wasn’t a major character, rely highlighted Wang Qiushuang’s care for him.

"So, has Lou Wenjian moved on now?" Yi Roujing asked with a smile, "It seems so, given that he’s going out and still finding ways to thank you, treating you like family."

Hu Ailing’s face showed mixed emotions of joy and sadness, "Lou is a really good person. One could say that Lou’s feelings for that girl weren’t that deep back then, as he was always serving in the military, and they seldom t."

Yi Roujing looked into Hu Ailing’s eyes with admiration. This girl had found her way out of confusion, with clear and bright perceptions, not belittling or criticizing another because of her own feelings for soone, but instead rationally analyzing the issue.

"How much does Lou Wenjian know about your situation?" Yi Roujing asked.

Hu Ailing’s lips curved slightly, with a look of joy and gratitude on her face, "Everything. Initially, I used my own experience to encourage Lou, hoping he could co to terms with it."

"Actually, my transformation is largely thanks to Lou, too. Roujing, I’ve started learning to read; Lou taught ." Hu Ailing’s eyes sparkled like a galaxy, particularly bright, "And not just that, he teaches math, too. I’ve beco quite proficient."

"You both support each other. That’s wonderful." Yi Roujing said with a smile.

Since Hu Ailing wasn’t having lunch, she didn’t stay long before preparing to leave, "Roujing, I’ll co find you again next ti."

When they saw Lou Wenjian and Hu Ailing again, it was June 9th, with Yi Roujing sitting at the consultation desk as that was her shift today.

So when Hu Ailing pushed Lou Wenjian in, Yi Roujing noticed them imdiately.

"Ailing." Yi Roujing stood up to greet her proactively.

"Roujing." Hu Ailing was pleased but sowhat restrained today.

Behind Hu Ailing, a kindly woman dressed in a white mid-sleeve shirt and black trousers with slightly wavy hair, holding a handbag, approached.

"Ailing, do you know this nurse?" Lou Chongshang’s wife, Lou Wenjian’s mother, Qin Suyun, asked with a smile.

"Yes, she’s my friend." Hu Ailing explained, "When I lived in Dingping Production Team, Roujing was my neighbor and helped a lot."

Qin Suyun nodded in understanding. One of the main reasons she chose Hu Ailing to work with their family was because of her sincerity.

"Hello, Auntie, I’m Yi Roujing." Yi Roujing greeted her with a smile, and Qin Suyun returned the smile.

"Sister-in-law, you’re here." Mr. Chen’s voice was heard, and Qin Suyun’s smile deepened.

"Mr. Chen, thank you for the trouble today."

"Roujing, do you know each other?" Mr. Chen noticed Yi Roujing and asked with a smile, "Perfect. Today, we need a nurse to assist Expert Lei, so you can follow along."

Yi Roujing was a little surprised, "The consultation desk?"

"Nurse Chief Luo, arrange it, please."

"Yes." Luo Yueyuan responded promptly, and then Yi Roujing went with Mr. Chen to the orthopedic clinic.

Qin Suyun was curious upon seeing Mr. Chen’s special regard for Yi Roujing, "Mr. Chen, is this nurse new? I haven’t seen her before."

"Yes, Old Lou from your family always recomnded her to , but I hadn’t t her then and didn’t agree. Later, because of our Le, I got to know Roujing. She’s our family’s lifesaver."

"So, the person who saved Le is this Yi Roujing." Qin Suyun looked at Yi Roujing with a noticeably softer expression, "She’s truly a good one."

The orthopedic expert from Jing City, Lei Zhenzhong, was a white-haired elder, sixty-five years old, with great authority in orthopedics, and he had brought two students along.

Mr. Chen led Yi Roujing and the group into the consulting room, "Expert Lei, this is our hospital’s nurse Yi Roujing. She will assist you during your consultation days."

Yi Roujing greeted them with composure, "Hello, Expert Lei. I’m Yi Roujing."

"Good, good, Mr. Chen, thank you." Lei Zhenzhong nodded and smiled, "Old Lou’s son..."

Qin Suyun personally pushed Lou Wenjian in, and Lei Zhenzhong paused his words. Mr. Chen knew Lei Zhenzhong’s attitudes; he asked unnecessary people to leave, though there were still quite a few in the room.

There were Lei Zhenzhong and his two students, Yi Roujing, as well as Qin Suyun and Lou Wenjian.

Lei Zhenzhong carefully examined Lou Wenjian’s leg, showing no change in his expression. Qin Suyun watched anxiously from the side but didn’t voice any questions.

"You two take a look as well." The two students of Lei Zhenzhong, both n in their early thirties, crouched down to examine Lou Wenjian’s right leg.

"This patient’s right ankle and leg bones seem to have had a fracture before, the leg bone recovered well, but the ankle left a problematic root."

Lei Zhenzhong looked towards the other student after hearing this.

"I have a different opinion. Let’s take an X-ray to see the bone’s recovery state. I think the limp may not be caused by the bone but possibly by the tendon."

"Expert Lei, knowing you were coming, we took an X-ray in advance. Please have a look." Qin Suyun handed the film to Lei Zhenzhong.

Lei Zhenzhong examined the X-ray, then passed it to the two students. After viewing it, their expressions all turned a bit solemn.

"Expert Lei, can my son’s leg be treated?" Qin Suyun asked, voice trembling slightly.

"Mom, even if it can’t be cured, it’s okay, it’s not life-threatening." Lou Wenjian said calmly, "On the battlefield, many soldiers lose their limbs. I’m just limping a bit, and that’s already fortunate."

"This comrade is right." Lei Zhenzhong said with a smile, "Actually, a positive mindset is the most important. In fact, his leg is already healed; it doesn’t affect walking. As long as he gets over this ntal hurdle, there will be no problems in the future."

Qin Suyun smiled, though her eyes were slightly wet, she took a long breath, "As long as you think so, mom is relieved."

The ankle injury was severe, likely a comminuted fracture. Yi Roujing had a grasp of this after seeing the film; despite the treatnt, current dical technology and equipnt then couldn’t compare with later developnts. The ankle bone was sowhat deford, and honestly, being able to walk is already a great outco.

Even with such injuries, in future decades, it’s not always possible for complete healing, and having so persistent issues is quite common.

"Mom, I have sothing to say to you when we get back." Lou Wenjian suddenly spoke earnestly to Qin Suyun.
