Qin Suyun is not a dull person. Her eldest son has always been on her mind, and she has noticed every little change in him. The reason she continues to let Ailing stay at ho is twofold: firstly, she is glad to see the positive changes in her eldest son, and secondly, Ailing has proper boundaries and hasn’t crossed any lines.

"Do you want to talk about you and Ailing?" Qin Suyun sat on the sofa, looking at Lou Wenjian, who stood in front of her as straight as a pine tree. Her heart ached; why would such a good son of hers encounter such things?

But compared to his previous morose deanor, the current state actually delighted Qin Suyun.

"How did mom know?" Lou Wenjian was a bit taken aback but then smiled gently, "Mom can see it."

Qin Suyun felt a sting in her nose, replied with a simple "hmm," and never expected to see her own son looking as clueless as this.

"Mom, I want to marry Ailing." Lou Wenjian’s eyes were filled with determination.

Hu Ailing’s entire body trembled, overwheld by a mix of emotions, and her eyes suddenly welled up with tears, shedding two clear streams down her face.

"Do you know that Ailing was once married and divorced?" Qin Suyun asked Lou Wenjian.

"I know," Lou Wenjian replied without hesitation, "but that doesn’t stop from marrying her."

"Do you know about Ailing’s miscarriage before the divorce?" Qin Suyun continued to ask.

A trace of heartache flashed in Lou Wenjian’s eyes, "I know. I won’t let her suffer that kind of pain again."

"In the future, many people will appear around you—colleagues at work, relatives at ho, neighbors next door... They love to gossip, especially about the negative aspects. They’ll constantly remind you that you’re marrying soone who’s divorced and used by others."

"Just like before, when they used to gossip behind your back about how you couldn’t keep your fiancée because you were a cripple. Can you handle it?"

Qin Suyun’s words almost made Hu Ailing collapse as if she was already facing such a scene. No, she couldn’t bear people talking about Lou Wenjian like that.

"Mrs. Qin, I..."

"Mom, I don’t care about all that." Lou Wenjian’s words imdiately drowned out Hu Ailing’s voice, and she bit her lip in order not to cry, moved by his response.

"Ailing, what do you think?" Qin Suyun directly turned her gaze to Hu Ailing, looking into her eyes as if she could see right into her heart.

Lou Wenjian turned his gaze towards Hu Ailing, the love in his eyes bringing her sadness and joy. Thinking of Yi Roujing’s words, Hu Ailing closed her eyes. She liked Lou Wenjian, and Lou Wenjian had done a lot for her. She didn’t want to disappoint him. Even if mocked or rejected, she wanted to express her true feelings.

When she reopened her eyes, the emotions in Hu Ailing’s eyes had changed, and she had beco resolute. Qin Suyun raised her eyebrows almost imperceptibly.

"Mrs. Qin, I know, I am not good enough for Lou. Even if I had never been married, divorced, or lost a child, and was still a young virgin, I would still not be good enough for him."

"But I like Lou. He is a good person and treats well. No one ever wanted to teach to read or write. Even my own parents said that it was useless for a girl to study and made drop out of school early."

"Honestly, I don’t want anyone to talk about Lou because of , but I don’t want to leave him either." Hu Ailing clenched her fists, making herself look bravely at Qin Suyun, "I will work harder to slowly get closer to Lou."

Lou Wenjian visibly bead, revealing his white teeth, his eyes full of tenderness. He had been looking at Hu Ailing; it was the first ti he got a positive response from her, and he was delighted.

Qin Suyun sighed and then smiled, "I have no objections, your dad..."

"Dad agrees," Lou Wenjian couldn’t wait to say.

"Oh, you’ve already talked with your dad." Qin Suyun raised an eyebrow, a hint of dissatisfaction in her eyes. Her son had told him first, and she wasn’t pleased.

"Dad wanted to introduce soone to , and I said no, I’ve already got soone I like. He asked who, and I said it was Ailing. He said he knew."

"Knowing is not the sa as agreeing."

"Dad said it’s not a problem if you agree, and he has no opinion." Lou Wenjian added.

"Then I’ll start picking a date," Qin Suyun said with a smile, looking at Hu Ailing with a gentler gaze, "Ailing, when shall we visit your family to set a date?"

Hu Ailing seed to be on cloud nine, incredulously saying, "Mrs. Qin, you, you’re agreeing to being with Lou?"

"It’s his own choice, why wouldn’t I agree," Qin Suyun chuckled, "but I’m delighted. What you said today made very happy. I believe you and Jian will do well."

"If a person doesn’t even dare to pursue happiness, lacking even the courage to step forward, honestly I might not have approved of Jian marrying you. But now, I agree."

Hu Ailing covered her mouth, tears flowing unchecked.

Lou Chongshang ca ho and imdiately heard the good news. Sitting beside Qin Suyun, he asked in a low voice, "You really agreed?"

"Why wouldn’t I?" Lou Chongshang got a side-eye from Qin Suyun, "Jian wanting to get married makes so happy."

"The previous one had a good family and looks, but what was the use of that? She flew away before any actual trouble." Qin Suyun sighed, "I think Ailing is good, otherwise I wouldn’t have let her co and work for us. But who would have thought she would end up with the eldest."

"Look at him now, becoming better and more presentable, daring to step out, to work, to get married. He’s working so hard, am I still his mother if I break his happiness?" Qin Suyun said with reddening eyes.

"Moreover, your son, Lou Chongshang’s son, my son, whoever he marries shouldn’t make others dare say too much." Qin Suyun remarked, "But Old Lou, if you work a bit harder, there will be fewer people talking."

Lou Chongshang laughed, "I got it, dear."

Yi Roujing ca straight to the staff residence behind the County Governnt complex after work and saw Hu Ailing with eyes swollen like walnuts. Although her eyes were swollen, her expression was one of pure happiness.

"Did you talk it through and got approval?" Yi Roujing asked.

"Roujing, how did you know, how did you know?" Hu Ailing started crying again and hugged Yi Roujing tightly.

Yi Roujing was both crying and laughing, and then she saw Lou Wenjian walking out of the courtyard gate, "Comrade Yi Roujing, when Ailing and I get married, you must co to our wedding banquet."

"I definitely will," Yi Roujing said happily for Hu Ailing, she had found her happiness.

With one worry resolved, Yi Roujing’s steps felt noticeably lighter on her way ho, except when she encountered people blocking the road.
