Upon leaving the hospital, Yi Roujing and Ding Ancheng went straight to Bright Alley. Before they even entered, they could hear laughter and cheerful chatter coming from inside.

"Auntie, I’ve heard from my sister-in-law and Anmin that you’re quite the cook."

"Haha, not at all. Those two just like to exaggerate. But if you enjoy it, eat more at lunch. I heard from Anguo that you like Sweet Potato with caral, so we’re having that for lunch."

"Thank you, Auntie. By the way, can I watch you cook? I can cook, but I’m not as skilled. Honestly, my mom can’t cook at all, so it’s either or my dad who cooks at ho."

"You’re such a well-behaved child, just like Anguo. He’s dating soone now but never thought to bring her over earlier; he’s such a shy one. Lishu, I hope you can be patient with him."

...

Li Hongying and Feng Lishu were having a warm and friendly conversation, and outside, Yi Roujing listened with a smile on her lips.

"By the way, those Dendrobium Nobile and Dendrobium you processed were sent to Jing City recently. Gu Shizhao should be able to sell them for a good price," Ding Ancheng said. "And the antlers we hadn’t sold yet—they were in great condition and just sold a few days ago. The money should co together with the Dendrobium."

"Although they’re good herbs, their prices are probably not as high as Agarwood, ginseng, and Lingzhi," Yi Roujing acknowledged.

"You’ve earned quite a bit from collecting herbs, and we’ve got quite a bit of money ourselves. Have you thought about buying a house in the county for your parents?" Ding Ancheng asked.

Yi Roujing turned her head in surprise, "You’re such a generous son-in-law, not bad at all."

Ding Ancheng gently ruffled Yi Roujing’s hair.

"You’re not thinking I might be pregnant and want to reward your wife, are you?" Yi Roujing raised an eyebrow and asked, "What if it’s just a delay?"

Ding Ancheng sighed, "Jing, are you being overly sensitive?"

Yi Roujing was taken aback for a mont.

"Whether you’re pregnant or not, it doesn’t have a direct relation to buying a house, does it?" Ding Ancheng said softly, rubbing the back of her hand.

Yi Roujing’s thoughts drifted back to the past. She used to study hard and learn dicine diligently. Whenever there was sothing praiseworthy, her family, especially her parents, would just throw money at it; there was no genuine joy, only transactions. They saw value in her and rewarded her accordingly, which left her feeling numb inside.

Actually, when Ding Ancheng first ntioned she might be pregnant, Yi Roujing felt a bit lost. She wasn’t sure if she could beco a good mother with parents like hers, or if she’d follow their path.

"Are you worried and not wanting to have a child so soon?" Ding Ancheng gently tightened his grip on Yi Roujing’s hand. Of course, he knew how to avoid pregnancy, but Yi Roujing had never ntioned it or refused, so he thought...

"I am a bit worried. I don’t know if I can be a good mother," Yi Roujing sighed. "As for the child, if I am pregnant, I’ll definitely keep it; it’s ours."

Ding Ancheng felt his heart soften, "There’s no need to worry about anything else. With here, it doesn’t matter if you don’t do well. I’ll take care of both of you."

"Ding Ancheng, aren’t you worried about marrying the wrong wife?" Yi Roujing chuckled, "Nowadays, isn’t it the won taking care of kids, cooking, and washing clothes in every household?"

"You do those things too," Ding Ancheng said with amusent. "And I think you can do well in anything, so there’s no need to worry."

"Actually, when my third brother ntioned the two sisters-in-law wanting their children to study in the county, I thought about having my parents move here. But back then, my eldest and second brothers weren’t employed yet, and the family was unstable. Moving everyone to the county wasn’t sensible," Yi Roujing changed the topic.

"Moreover, I really wasn’t planning to use the money you earned to buy a house for my family," Yi Roujing explained helplessly, seeing Ding Ancheng’s sowhat darkened expression. "Don’t think I’m being calculating."

"If it were just my parents moving to the county, I wouldn’t mind using your money to buy a house. But right now, there are still three brothers," Yi Roujing thought of her second sister-in-law, who was soone who would take advantage of any opportunity.

"One can’t always give; it becos a habit for others. Next ti, if you don’t give, they’ll think you’re heartless."

"What do you think?" Ding Ancheng asked softly.

"I’ll ask my parents," Yi Roujing replied honestly. "Whether they move to the county is their decision. Is there a suitable house?"

"There’s one, and the price is reasonable," Ding Ancheng said. "Anguo told about it. Do you want to check it out?"

"How much?"

"Around two thousand, about the sa size as this house. A large family used to live there before it was seized."

"Why is it so cheap?" Yi Roujing was curious.

"It was seized by the Goi Committee. They planned to keep it internally, but soone reported it to the county governnt. Anguo said the price was estimated by governnt officials,"

"Aren’t we going against the Goi Committee by buying it?" Yi Roujing raised an eyebrow.

"Not really; we’re just following the normal process," Ding Ancheng said. "Besides, it was the family that was seized who reported it to the governnt."

"By the way, I haven’t kept up. How’s Wen Chaokuan? Isn’t his dad with the Goi Committee?" Yi Roujing asked.

"It’s the Wen Family that was seized this ti," Ding Ancheng laughed, and Yi Roujing was extrely surprised.

"Why?"

"Just a conflict of interest," Ding Ancheng explained. "And he was just the scapegoat. Soone had to be blad. They reached an agreent among themselves, and Wen Chaokuan had already been sent to the Northeast countryside."

"He was the one who reported the Goi Committee about the house issues. He made a phone call to get it done. He’s in the Northeast, so the Huaixi County Goi Committee couldn’t do anything to him."

"How do you know so much?" Yi Roujing asked suspiciously, looking at Ding Ancheng.

"I had soone keep an eye on him," Ding Ancheng made no attempt to hide. "He’s a toxic figure, and it’s important to keep tabs on him. If a person loses everything, their retaliation needs attention. But for now, he can’t do much."

"Such a bargain can’t be missed," Yi Roujing was tempted.

"I’ll make the arrangents then."

"Big brother, sister-in-law, why are you not going in?" Huang Xiaobao arrived on a bicycle, saw them chatting in the alley, and greeted them with a smile.

"We were just about to go in," Yi Roujing said as the gate opened. Ding Anmin opened it, and Huang Xiaobao’s eyes lit up.

"I brought a bottle of wine with today. Is Uncle ho?" Huang Xiaobao whispered, lifting the green net bag on the bike’s handlebars.

"Yes, but don’t drink too much," Ding Anmin warned as he took the wine.

"I know, I’ll just have a small cup," Huang Xiaobao grinned and led his bicycle in.
