Transmigrated as Cannon Fodder — I Rise to Female Lead Through Hard Work Chapter 289: Ye Xiangli’s Transformation
Yi Roujing saw that the little girl she had found was sleeping soundly, so she headed back to the warehouse. Sir Zhang ca up to her, "Nurse Yi, how is the child?"
Yi Roujing felt a bit emotional, sotis strangers showed more concern than family, "Sir Zhang, don’t worry, the child is fine. She’ll be alright after so care, though she might catch a cold from spending a night out in the cold. But now that she’s in the hospital, nothing serious will happen."
Sir Zhang felt a bit relieved after hearing this, but since the incident happened in the warehouse, he still felt responsible, thinking about when to check on the child.
"By the way, I checked, the doors and windows weren’t broken, I really don’t know how the child got in," Sir Zhang said with embarrassnt.
"The child belongs to the clinic nurse, Nurse Pan ixin," Yi Roujing ntioned in passing, and Sir Zhang was extrely surprised, then suddenly recalled sothing and slapped his thigh with his right hand.
"I rember now, yesterday Nurse Pan was taking stock at the clinic, so I opened the door for her. Later, she said she lost sothing, and it seed to have rolled into the storeroom of the inpatient departnt, so I opened the door for her. She found it there, it was an earring, she said her mother left it for her, it had special aning."
Sir Zhang was puzzled, "But there was no child at that ti, could it have been when I went to the bathroom?"
Sir Zhang helped search for a while, but then his stomach ached, so he went to the bathroom. When he ca back, Pan ixin said she found it and closed the door behind her, and he just had to lock the door.
The next day, when he opened the door, her daughter was in the storeroom. What does this an? Sir Zhang’s back turned cold, "What does Nurse Pan an, did she not notice her child was inside, or did she intentionally lock the child inside?"
Upon hearing this, Yi Roujing’s brows furrowed. If it was intentional, that would be murder. But it would have to wait until the child woke up to know the specifics; it could also be that the child sneaked in secretly.
After organizing the inventory, Yi Roujing reported the situation to Fan Yuanrong, changed out of her nurse’s uniform, and went to see the child.
The child had not been transferred to the inpatient departnt, she was just lying in a room with a few beds in the clinic. In the large room, she was the only one lying there; the rest were empty. Doctors and nurses were busy working, but Pan ixin, the mother, was not there. Yi Roujing sat down and checked the child over.
There was so warmth, and the hot-water bottle had been removed from her hands and feet. Just as Yi Roujing got up, Ye Xiangli ca in with a dical tray, a drip and dicine placed on it.
"Roujing, why are you here?" Ye Xiangli asked with so surprise, "Where’s ixing?"
"I just got here, didn’t see anyone when I ca in," Yi Roujing replied.
Ye Xiangli furrowed her brows slightly, then skillfully set up the drip for the child. "Just took the temperature, 38.5 degrees. Doctor Liu prescribed dicine, since the child is young, we’re using milder antibiotics."
Ye Xiangli had changed quite a bit, Yi Roujing had noticed, more settled than before, giving a sense of calm assurance.
"How’s married life?" Yi Roujing rarely asked about things outside of work.
Ye Xiangli was stunned for a mont, then smiled, with a hint of sweetness, "My mother-in-law is good, though she’s not very involved, she’s kind to people. Before I got married, when I visited the Liao family, my mother-in-law was a bit cold. But after marriage, it’s different."
Ye Xiangli didn’t say it, but she knew why her mother-in-law changed. Because Liao Yongzhong was no longer in Huaixi County, without hope of returning for a lifeti, but that wasn’t sothing Ye Xiangli would ntion to outsiders.
"Shiqi has also changed quite a bit, but he’s more responsible now. In fact, I feel a bit lucky..." Ye Xiangli realized she said sothing inappropriate and didn’t continue.
But Yi Roujing understood that, thankful for Liao Shiqi’s transformation after the family’s troubles.
"You’ve changed quite a bit too," Yi Roujing replied with a smile, "I think it’s great how you are now."
Ye Xiangli’s smile deepened, "Actually, my family wasn’t great, I always wanted to escape, now I have."
"If our family hadn’t worked hard, or been more mindful, we’d be stuck as we were forever. But fortunately, I’ve left now," Ye Xiangli said emotionally. She was determined to stick by Liao Shiqi; initially, it was because of his family, but it changed, maybe a shared sense of adversity, so Liao Shiqi was the sa after he learned about her family situation.
"Roujing, I’m very happy now," Ye Xiangli said with a bright smile, but sighed as she looked at the little girl on the bed.
"If this child stays with Pan ixin, I don’t know what will happen," Ye Xiangli said softly.
Yi Roujing took the opportunity to ask about Pan ixin’s inventory check yesterday.
Ye Xiangli thought for a mont and replied, "It was supposed to be Xiangxi’s turn, but Pan ixin volunteered for the task. Why?"
"Hmm—" The child on the bed suddenly made a sound and slowly opened her eyes.
"Oh, awake," Ye Xiangli exclaid, a bit happily.
Hearing the sound, the child shrank back, her eyes showing tension and fear.
"Little one, are you alright? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?" Ye Xiangli asked.
The child shook her head.
"When you get better, you can go ho."
The child on the bed suddenly trembled, shaking her head vigorously, "I, I don’t want to go back."
"Where are you planning to go if not back?" Pan ixin suddenly entered, speaking with disdain, "If you don’t want to go back, I’ll send you to your grandparents, why didn’t you go there and instead sneak to the hospital."
The child’s eyes revealed confusion, "Is it to grandparents? Weren’t they going to sell ?"
Pan ixin’s face turned ashen imdiately.
Yi Roujing’s eyebrows lifted sharply, imdiately looking at Pan ixin, not missing the evasion in her eyes.
"Sold? Sold where? What right do you have to sell her?" Luo Yueyuan entered and closed the door, glaring at Pan ixin.
"Mrs. Luo," the child was happy to see Luo Yueyuan.
"Tell Mrs. Luo, were they going to sell you?"
The child was about to speak when Pan ixin grabbed her ear, "You’re too young to be talking nonsense."
"Pan ixin, just because she’s not your own flesh and blood, does that an you can beat and scold her at will?" Luo Yueyuan turned to Pan ixin, no longer hiding anything.
"I’ll head to the textile factory to find the union leader later. I want to see, even if it’s her stepmother, how Luo Dagang, as her biological father, takes care of his daughter," Luo Yueyuan’s voice rose imdiately.
Pan ixin was startled, instinctively releasing her grip and stepping back. She wasn’t afraid of Luo Yueyuan finding Luo Dagang, but she was afraid of Luo Yueyuan finding the leader. If she lost her job because of this, it wouldn’t be good, as Luo Yueyuan’s husband was a leader at the textile factory union.
