At the entrance of the dungeon, several guards were watching the portal, when sothing strange began to happen. The air beca heavier and the greenish glow of the portal began to fluctuate in an unusual way, as if it were unable to remain stable. In a matter of seconds, the green color turned to a vibrant orange hue, and the guards looked at each other, visibly alard. The change in color could only an one thing: the range of the portal had increased.
The news traveled quickly among the soldiers present, and in the midst of the panic that was beginning to grow, one of the guards asked in a trembling voice:
— What about the students who entered? What will happen to them?
The soldier who had raised such a question quickly moved around the place, urgently bringing the information to the instructors. However, they knew that it would take a while to help the cadets after all, which would take at least ten minutes for them to arrive. In that ti, the students could be facing an unknown threat and it is unknown how many of them will survive by the ti they arrive.
So of the soldiers present, driven by emotion and their sense of duty, suggested entering the portal to try to rescue the students, but their companions quickly dissuaded them.
"What are you going to do?" one of them shouted desperately. "We are only F-rank warriors, we will only be cannon fodder!"
The situation was more serious than they thought. The tone of the portal indicated that the dungeon had not only increased its level, but was now at least at a B rank, so to assist the cadets a high-ranking instructor would have to go, sothing that they, simple soldiers, could not face. The decision was unanimous: they had to alert the instructors as soon as possible, especially Veronica Glass, the S-rank Dragon Slayer with the strongest sense of duty.
At that instant, without wasting any more ti, the ssage was sent, a soldier went straight to Veronica’s office. His heart was beating a thousand miles an hour, the sound of his breathing was audible as he crossed the hallway, not long after, as soon as he arrived, he knocked hard on Veronica’s office door and walked straight in, almost imdiately Veronica looked up from her desk annoyed but the soldier didn’t care. He spoke quickly, haltingly due to the urgency of the situation.
—Miss Glass! Sothing urgent has happened!
Veronica looked at him calmly, waiting to see what the reason was for him to boldly interrupt her office, if not convince her... his gaze penetrating and serene, and raised her hand, indicating for him to speak.
—Take a deep breath. Speak to slowly, what’s going on?
The soldier moved forward, trying to catch his breath, and began to explain the situation quickly.
—The portal... has changed rank. The dungeon has increased its level, and is now uncontrollable, you have to intervene. The cadets... the students who entered... perhaps did not survive.
Veronica frowned upon hearing the soldier’s words. Her mind had already begun to connect the dots.
—So, you’re telling ; the dungeon has increased in rank? —she said, thoughtfully, as she stood up from her desk with determination. —This is not just any increase... it’s a double dungeon. Co on, the students may be in grave danger!
Without wasting ti, Veronica moved eagerly, her steps were so fast that the soldier could not keep up with her, each of her movents leaving a trail of mana in the air. In the blink of an eye, he had already arrived near the portal.
Upon arriving, he saw that the portal now glowed in darker, deeper hues, sothing about it gave him the creeps, it wasn’t as if this had never happened before, but it was the first ti it had happened so unexpectedly, without a sign, just appearing out of nowhere. Without hesitation, and without making a single unnecessary movent, he entered the dungeon, ready to face whatever was hidden inside.
***
The demon stared at him, his eyes shining brightly, the atmosphere that surrounded him beca increasingly heavy, loaded with a price that seed to suppress the very air itself.
Усыдшааит. (I found you)
The demon spoke to him and surprisingly it seed that I could understand what he was saying, perhaps it was due to so ability of the system, but I did not give it more importance at that mont with a soft smile the demon took a step towards him. The dark energy emanating from his body was overwhelming; the presence of that creature was a palpable threat, almost suffocating. It was a B-rank being, perhaps even more, and Erwin knew that he could not face that thing directly, but he could not retreat either, if he did his companions could end up implicated. They sacrificed themselves, determined not to retreat. He had to fight.
Despite the anxiety that was beginning to invade him, Erwin stood tall and did not let his guard down, taking a stance, preparing his sword with determination, knowing that it would be the hardest fight in his entire life. The demon ca closer, his steps calm but full of arrogance, as if he found all this amusing. When they were close enough, the demon extended his hand, intending to catch him, but Erwin reacted instantly, threatening with his sword. The edge shone with a flash, reflecting the dim light emanating from the portal.
The demon only smiled at this and, with a quick movent, invoked Măĝî, soon the dark power enveloped his hands, creating a small layer of cloudy and dense energy that moved in his palms. The clash with Erwin’s sword was sterile, the sword barely touched the force of that power and, although the tallic sound reverberated in the air, it did not cause any damage. Erwing, aware of the difference in power, quickly stepped back, taking two steps back. He knew he couldn’t fail.
Gathering strength, he lunged at the demon again, this ti with greater intensity. Imbuing every part of his sword with mana, this ti he enveloped it in electric energy, bright rays crackling along the blade. As he did so, his feet moved with impeccable dexterity, thanks to the wind magic that softened his movents, allowing him to move faster, more agilely. He struck with all his might, but the demon didn’t flinch. With a simple movent of his hand, he tried to strip the demon of its sword, crashing into it with such force that Erwing felt the vibration of his weapon run through his entire body.
The situation seed increasingly precarious. The demon hadn’t used all of its power and it was already this strong. Erwing knew he couldn’t keep this up for long. If he wanted to survive, he would have to risk everything, he would have to prepare a stronger move that would help him in this situation.
With a deep breath, and no longer holding back, Erwin adopted a more fluid, looser stance. He closed his eyes for a mont and then opened them, his gaze filled with determination. The sword seed to co to life in his hands, as if it were an extension of himself. With one hand, he held it firmly, while with the other he began to whisper an incantation.
In an instant, a red light began to form around his body. Thin lines, like threads of fire, ran through his skin, weaving a web of energy that glowed brightly. Each thread seed to take on a life of its own, creating a fiery aura around him. The muscles in his arms and legs widened and tightened with inhuman speed, while the pulse of his heart seed to synchronize with the magic he was invoking. The power emanating from him was almost palpable, like an earthquake about to erupt. His sword, bathed in the red light, now seed lighter, sharper, more lethal.
The demon watched the entire process with a smirk on his face, although for a mont he was surprised by the increase in strength, he didn’t seem to care as if he had discovered the price that ca with overcoming the limits without giving him more ti to think more. Erwin launched himself into the attack with such impressive speed that the wind in his wake roared as if it were being torn from its place.
Bam!
A burst of energy crossed the air, and the impact was so strong that the wind split in its path, creating a shockwave that threw dust and debris everywhere. The demon, for the first ti, was forced to dodge. He quickly backed away, avoiding the killing blow, and realized that Erwin had unleashed more power than he had anticipated, if that attack hit him, though it wouldn’t kill him if it managed to wound him. As if aware of this, Erwing continued to advance, his sword in hand, the demon began to summon his own dark power, preparing a devastating counterattack.
Erwing, exhausted by the constant effort, had a hard ti maintaining his current form, yet he persisted and advanced, with a final cry, knowing that if he fell now he wouldn’t co out of this fight alive. But the demon, with a macabre laugh, raised a hand and fired a blast of dark energy that enveloped everything in its path, overwhelming Erwing with devastating force.
