『Veronica』

The air was filled with an eerie energy, almost as if the mountain itself was breathing heavily beneath the shadow of the mansion. I hurried on, my boots pounding the ground firmly as I weaved through the gohuls, skeletons, and specters that blocked my path. My eyes scanned every corner, every shadow, but I found nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing to explain the feeling that sothing was terribly wrong, and no clue as to why the portal had changed range.

I decided to be more thodical. I let my mana spread out, flowing from my fingertips like an invisible net covering the ground. Every leaf, every stone, every crack in the earth was being scanned with precision. But there was no trace of anomalies, no residual magic, no hidden portals. Nothing. At least on the outside, there was still a place left.

My gaze then turned to the mansion. That ancient and imposing structure that rose above the vast mountain was the last place to check. As I approached, a dark and repulsive energy began to spread, as if the air itself beca heavier. My steps quickened, driven by a mixture of curiosity.

As I crossed the threshold of the mansion, the impact was imdiate. The scene that unfolded before my eyes left breathless. Cyan, the best first-year student, was facing a B-rank demon. Not perhaps B , by himself, moving with a precision and ferocity that did not seem typical of a student. His blows hit with brute force, and the demon, although resisting, was clearly being overwheld, soon the demon’s head rolled on the ground.

The presence of a demon of that level was a clear sign that the treaty was broken, the war was approaching, quickly, I ca out of my stupor. The students could not stay here. This place was no longer safe. I had to notify the principal, but first, I had to make sure everyone was safe.

I projected mana into my voice, and told the students that the test was over and they were leaving. Extending the mana to buy it, once the last student had crossed, I made my way to Cyan. The demon already lay defeated, its body disintegrating in a cloud of black smoke. Cyan stood, breathing heavily, but with a determination in its eyes that I hadn’t seen before.

"Cyan," I said, approaching cautiously. "What the hell is going on here? How did a demon of that level get to this place?"

He looked at , and for a mont, I saw sothing in his gaze that was hard to ignore, sothing powerful. "I don’t know," he finally answered, his voice shaky and firm. "But I feel like this is just the beginning," he said as if he were trying to insinuate sothing.

His words echoed in my mind like an ominous echo. The demons were moving again, and this ti, it seed like their goal was much more ambitious. Now it wasn’t enough for them to just target the adults, they wanted to destroy the young people too. I had to warn the principal, gather the teachers, prepare for whatever was coming. But first, I needed answers. And Cyan, even though he was a student, seed to have so of them.

"Co on," I said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We need to talk. And I need you to tell everything you know."

『Cyan』

As I walked with Erwing escorted by Veronica, my gaze remained lost observing the system screen that appeared floating in my field of vision, full of notifications that kept appearing.

[Congratulations, you have killed a higher-rank demon, the system rewards you with 20,000 points and the "Demon Slayer" characteristic]

**Description: When facing demon-type enemies, the user’s power increases by 20%...**

The first notification shone with a golden hue, standing out above the others. But it was not the only one. In a matter of seconds, more ssages began to appear, one after another, like an endless cascade of rewards.

[Congratulations, you have slightly increased the Măĝî]

The notifications kept coming, piling up at an alarming rate, one after another with increasing speed. Each one marking a small increase in my dark energy. I could feel it. Each increase, however small, translated into a surge of power that ran through my body, as if my very essence was strengthening in real ti. It was a strange, almost addictive sensation, as if my connection to the dark energy had beco deeper, more intrinsic, and at the sa ti sought to take over my whole being.

Veronica cast a curious glance at , as if she sensed that sothing was up. "Cyan, are you okay? You seem... distracted."

Erwing, always the most observant, frowned. "Yeah, you have a weird expression. Is sothing wrong?"

"I’m fine," I said, cracking a slight smile. "I’m just thinking about what happened at the mansion. We almost... died."

Veronica nodded, though she didn’t seem entirely convinced. "Yeah, it was sothing out of the ordinary. A B-rank demon... and you defeated it. I don’t know what else you’re hiding from ."

Erwing crossed his arms, his expression serious. "Speaking of which, how did you do it? What was that ability? It’s like you’re not you."

"I don’t know," I said, shrugging. "I sensed danger and then it was like sothing inside woke up. An energy began to fill , and well... I acted."

Veronica stared at , but didn’t insist. Erwing, for his part, seed to have more questions, but before he could say anything, a new notification appeared on my screen.

[Congratulations, you have acquired the skill "Mind’s Eye."]

**Description: Allows the user to perceive the hidden weaknesses, statistics, and characteristics of living beings, objects, and any entity within a 100-ter radius...**

My eyes widened slightly upon reading the description. Mind’s Eye? That sounded... powerful. And useful. Very useful. I felt an urge to try it out right away, but I held back. It wasn’t the ti or the place.

As we continued walking, I noticed that the system notifications hadn’t stopped yet. They kept coming, though now at a slower pace. Each one of them further detached from reality, as if I were alien to this world, yet I was grateful for becoming stronger.

[Congratulations, you have acquired the skill "shadow walk".]

**Description: Allows the user to teleport through shadows in a 15 ter radius.**

My fingers clenched into a fist. This was amazing. These skills were coming one after another, I didn’t know why but increasing my strength never felt bad. Yet it also made wonder... what was really going on?...

Veronica touched my shoulder, pulling out of my thoughts. "Cyan, we’re arriving at the academy. We need to inform the principal of what happened. And you... go rest, tomorrow tell what happened."

I nodded slowly. She was right. The principal needed to know what had happened so that history could move forward more smoothly. Today I had fulfilled my objective. No students died in the dungeon. The future was beginning to change.

I looked around one last ti, my eyes scanning the landscape that now seed so familiar, the sky dyed in orange and purple tones as a sign that the sun had begun to set. The fresh air caressed my face, the sound of the wind cald my agitated heart. With a soft sigh, I turned around and headed towards the dorm. Every step I took seed to be a constant reminder of the future that was to co.

The day had been long, too long. I had faced a B-rank demon, I had acquired new skills, and more importantly, I had prevented the deaths of the students.

Entering the dorm, I closed the door behind and dropped onto the bed. The mattress gave way under my weight, and for a mont, I closed my eyes, allowing myself a breath of air.

"I have to keep getting stronger," I muttered to myself. The words echoed in the room with a force. As if the air had sucked them out. It wasn’t an option, it was a necessity. If I wanted to survive in this world, I had to get stronger, faster, smarter. I had to understand this system that was now a crucial part of .

With a quick movent, I opened the system nu, checking my stats and skills. The Măĝî had increased considerably, and my new skills, like "mind’s eye" and "shadow walk," were powerful tools that would help at so point. But it wasn’t enough. I needed more.

"The future will be hectic," I said quietly, talking to myself giving strength to face the challenge. "But I’m not afraid." I repeated to myself.

With one last glance at the system, I walked away and prepared for bed. Tomorrow would be another day, and with it, another challenge. But for now, I needed to rest. I needed to regain my energy.

Before I went to bed, I got out of bed, grabbed a small notebook I kept in my backpack, and began writing down all the events, objects, and skills I rembered from the novel. I had to take advantage of these opportunities. I couldn’t afford to forget anything.

It got late, writing one thing after another. When I finally went to bed, I closed my eyes and let the tiredness get the better of . But even in sleep, I knew my mind would still be working, planning, preparing for the future I had to face.
