"Ashley, what the hell are you standing around for? Send soone to take this useless piece of trash to the infirmary."
Benjamin glanced at Blindspot, who had apologized, and said coldly.
"Yes! Yes! I’ll arrange it right away!"
Ashley fumbled for her phone and called the dical team.
She let out a breath of relief. It looked like Soldier Boy had still agreed to let Blindspot join Vought International.
He might not be able to join The Seven, but he could still be placed in one of the second-tier teams. Either way, Vought International would at least gain so support from people with disabilities.
Holander stood to the side, glanced at Blindspot, then at Ashley. But when he saw Benjamin had already turned and was heading for the door, he said nothing more and quickly followed.
Only the footsteps of father and son remained in the hallway.
"That stupid woman Ashley. She’s just like Madelyn was, with nothing in her head but acting and putting on a show! Does Vought International need support from people with disabilities?"
Holander walked beside Benjamin, gritting his teeth as he complained.
"And that damn blind man, what the hell is he supposed to be? I’d love to slap both his ears deaf and make him a real cripple, blind and deaf."
Benjamin turned his head slightly.
In the original storyline, Holander had used an extrely brutal double-peak ear-piercing maneuver, smashing Blindspot’s eardrums with both hands, destroying the Super Hearing he was so proud of and completely ruining the poor bastard’s life.
The current Holander had beco sowhat more restrained because of Benjamin’s presence, and he had gained a trace of humanity in so ways.
But his violent temper had not fundantally changed.
There was nothing to be done about it. There was still a long way to go before Holander could beco a real superhero. After all, Benjamin had not transmigrated to when Holander was still a child. By the ti he arrived, Holander was already grown.
They would have to take it slowly.
"Control your temper, John."
Benjamin took a cigar from his pocket, bit it between his teeth, lit it, and continued,
"Blindspot didn’t do it on purpose. One punch was enough. Besides, with your Super Hearing, you should have been able to tell."
"He genuinely admires us. No matter what you do in the future, you need to be more magnanimous, understand? Otherwise, how are you supposed to be a damn superhero?"
Holander froze for a mont, then nodded. "I understand."
He thought about it.
It did seem true.
He had done plenty of bad things because of his temper...
Back on the plane, too. Because he had been impatient, his Heat Vision had directly destroyed the plane’s control system...
Of course he knew so things were wrong.
But Holander also knew he had not been able to control himself well at the ti, just like earlier.
"I believe that if you can control your temper, you’ll definitely beco a better superhero," Benjamin added.
Holander said nothing and silently followed behind Benjamin.
...
When the two reached the elevator, Holander hesitated before saying, "Dad, I’m going to Ryan’s neighborhood first."
"Go see your son."
Benjamin waved him off, then returned to his office.
Benjamin had just sat down in his leather chair when a knock ca from outside the door.
"Co in."
The door was quickly pushed open, and a woman walked in. She wore a black business suit and black-rimd glasses, with a decent air about her, though her skin was rather dark.
Her brows were tightly furrowed as she carried a thick file and a tablet to the desk.
Her na was Anika.
During the major reshuffling of Vought International’s upper managent, Anika had risen almost overnight, just like Ashley.
Ashley was the president of Vought International. Naturally, because she handled so much work, she also held several other roles. For example, the PR Departnt was still under Ashley’s managent.
Anika, anwhile, had been promoted by Benjamin to vice president of Vought International, taking over the real power once held by Madelyn.
Why promote her?
Because Benjamin clearly rembered that, in the original storyline, Anika had been the head of Vought’s Criminal Analysis Departnt.
She was quite capable at her job, and her personality was good as well.
In the early stages, it had been Anika who followed every trace and clue, relentlessly tracking The Boys’ movents and providing Black Noir with precise intelligence.
Once, she had nearly driven Butcher’s group into a dead end and almost wiped them out. They were only spared because Butcher and Edgar had made an agreent.
Yet such a rare technical talent had, in the fourth season of the original series... had her head blown off by Holander with zero warning.
If he rembered correctly, Holander had even sworn on his son’s life back then.
Now that Vought belonged to Benjamin, he naturally had to make proper use of people who could actually get things done.
Anika now managed almost all of Vought International’s internal security and intelligence.
Aside from The Seven, she also controlled the deploynt of other Supes, giving her considerable authority.
Anika was also a fairly normal person compared to the other superhuman supervisors, so Benjamin felt quite at ease with her.
"Sir, sothing’s happened," Anika said, her tone grave.
"Talk."
"About twenty minutes ago, we intercepted a high-risk Supervillain rampage downtown. Because it happened so suddenly, I sent ’Starlight,’ who was closest to the scene, to deal with it."
Anika’s expression soon turned ugly.
"But we just received intelligence that Starlight has been injured! That Supervillain is far stronger than expected. Starlight is retreating now, and the situation is dangerous!"
"What about the others?" Benjamin asked. "What’s that idiot Deep doing? Where are Maeve and A-Train?"
"We can’t reach Deep. No one knows where he went," Anika reported quickly.
"Queen Maeve and A-Train were sent to the xican border. They’re tracking another active Super-terrorist group and can’t make it back for now."
"As for Holander, he just left headquarters on a private trip and disabled his locator."
Originally, Queen Maeve and Holander had gone on missions together, but lately Holander’s focus had been on his father and his son, so he had not been paying any attention to his ex-girlfriend Maeve.
"What about Stormfront?" Benjamin asked again.
Then he thought about it. Stormfront did not seem suited for missions right now either. Never mind what she said about not killing innocent Black people. If she were really sent out on a mission and ran into one, she would probably do it in passing, then pin the bla on the Supervillain afterward.
Hearing the na, Anika coughed awkwardly.
"Ahem... Ms. Stormfront just said that last night, while fighting so unknown ’powerful Supervillain,’ she suffered severe internal injuries."
"She’s currently covered in bruises, has pelvic damage, and can’t walk, so she refuses to report for duty."
Benjamin froze for a mont after hearing the report. Then the corner of his mouth twitched.
That bitch.
