The group walked through the streets of Luxar. As expected for monts like these, Aslan had completely disappeared—as with the first ti Mitsuki ca here, the old man had wandered off to put away the carriage and horses.

Now they were among the people of this city.

The streets were full of life even at this hour. rchants raised their voices to attract custors while the mixed scent of freshly baked bread, roasted at, and sweet spices spread through the cold air.

"I feel like people are staring at weirdly," Mitsuki said.

Several gazes were fixed on him.

They weren’t especially hostile looks, but rather curious ones. So people quickly looked away when he noticed them; others kept staring for a few more seconds, as if trying to figure out whether he was a powerful adventurer or just a lost vagabond.

Ellegaard sighed.

"Maybe because your clothes are a ss. You look like a beggar."

"Oh..."

If not for the trench coat, whose buttons were fastened shut, Mitsuki would have been exposing his bare torso. On top of that, all his clothes were dirty, covered in scratches and tears. He looked as though a wild cat had attacked him.

So parts of the fabric had even stiffened from dried blood and dust. The edge of one sleeve dangled by a single thread, and his boots bore deep marks that showed the long journey they had endured.

"It’s a sha such nice clothes ended up destroyed. With the money they gave you, maybe you can get sothing new that suits you," Jeanne said.

"I was already thinking about that. This ti I want sothing light and not too fancy. Though maybe I’ll buy clothes similar to these for special occasions. I an, who knows when I’ll need to dress elegantly?"

"Sounds like you already have everything figured out."

"Yeah... Not having emotions ans you don’t bother hesitating. It’s pretty useful, honestly."

Ellegaard frowned.

"Emotions are the most important part of the soul, rookie. If you don’t recover them, you’ll never fully heal your soul."

The elf didn’t say it like simple advice. Her voice sounded serious, almost heavy, as though she were speaking from experience.

"Yeah, I know. I’m already working on it. Besides, every night I spend ti filling the cracks in my soul with mana. At this rate, I might be able to seal all the cracks in a few more days."

"It’s annoying how lightly you take it. Only a tick would be so careless about sothing as important as the soul."

"Alright, alright, Ellegaard. Don’t try to pick a fight with Mitsuki. You already know he can’t react to your provocations."

The elf snorted and quickened her pace.

Her long hair swayed behind her as she pushed past a couple of pedestrians without even looking at them. The sharp sound of her boots echoed against the cobblestones with obvious irritation.

"She’s still quite the character," Mitsuki said.

Jeanne smiled.

"Well, at least we’ll never get bored if we stick around her," she stretched her arms before placing her hands behind her head. "Putting that aside, are you going to buy clothes? I can help you choose. I’m pretty good with fashion."

"Sotis I forget you’re a princess..."

"You have no idea how many cute dresses I have back ho. You’ll see, I can definitely find sothing that looks great on you."

"As long as it isn’t a dress, I’m fine with it."

Jeanne let out a small amused laugh.

"That already limits my options quite a bit. Still, if I can’t find sothing you like, we can always ask an expert."

A clothing district filled with every kind of outfit soone could ask for in a fantasy world. There were everything from robes for sorcerers to elegant formal attire. The entire street was packed with shops like these, giving custors an enormous variety of choices.

The storefronts were decorated with colorful fabrics and shining accessories. So businesses displayed light armor for adventurers; others showcased dresses so extravagant they looked impossible to walk in. People constantly ca and went carrying bags, arguing over prices, or admiring rchandise behind the glass windows.

"To be honest, it never occurred to to co here. It’s pretty far from the inn," Mitsuki said.

The princess casually draped an arm over his shoulders.

"You have no idea what you’ve been missing. There’ll definitely be sothing here you can choose; sothing that’s only for you. It all depends on what style you want to go for. You said you wanted sothing light, so a noble outfit like the one you’re wearing now is no longer an option."

"I’d prefer sothing more like an adventurer’s outfit. If I can fight comfortably in it, then it’s sothing I could wear."

"I know what you an. Isn’t that right, Ellegaard?"

The elf walked ahead of them without paying them any attention at all. Her cold silence made both Jeanne and Mitsuki uncomfortable.

Ellegaard barely turned her head enough to give them an indifferent glance before continuing forward.

"She seems stressed, more than usual. We’d better leave her alone and focus on our own thing," Jeanne said.

Mitsuki nodded.

’I’ll talk to her later. I need to learn more magic and improve my skills. I also have to prepare properly before heading to the next kingdom in Nemoria.’

The wind blew gently between the tall stone buildings, stirring the banners hanging above the shopping street. Mitsuki lifted his gaze toward the clear sky for a few seconds.

The white clouds, the blue sky, the yellow sun... everything was so different from the gloomy places he had been trapped in during the past month and a half.

While he was thinking, Jeanne grabbed his hand and, without warning, dragged him through the street. Ellegaard barely managed to realize that Mitsuki had been kidnapped by the princess.

His cloak fluttered wildly from the speed of that crazy girl running through the streets with that one-ard boy who looked like a flag in the wind.

Several pedestrians jumped aside in surprise when Jeanne rushed past them. One vendor nearly dropped a crate of fruit after seeing her cut across the street at full speed.

"You two..." she muttered.

It was already too late. Those two had vanished into the bustling crowd.

Ellegaard sighed, cald herself down, and continued on her way as though she didn’t care what happened to those people.
