Maybe the world had noticed that Mitsuki’s life had beco far too hectic over the past few days; however, it didn’t give him any rest. After his talk with Galahad, he returned to his daily routine with the girls.

Over ti, he started to settle into a training schedule. In the mornings, he trained arcane magic with Ellegaard, and in the afternoons, he repeated the sa downward slash with his wooden sword. The latter always left him completely exhausted by the end of the day, so he would collapse onto the bed and fall asleep until the next morning.

The cycle repeated from then on, though there were always unexpected variations. Aslan would often show up to chat with the girls, but Mitsuki would run away every ti he saw him; he didn’t want to feel that uncomfortable again with his overly personal questions.

At other tis, he would spot the Blondie, so he would also flee without a second thought. And on so rare occasions, he would run into Galahad in the library. The Herald would always invite himself to talk with him, which inevitably ended with Mitsuki running away.

Ti flies, yet sohow that boy from another world had managed to survive. And he didn’t do it through strength or intelligence—he survived because he was always with Ellegaard and Jeanne—just pure luck, to be honest.

Amid all this, there was one thing Mitsuki did. From ti to ti, he would look at Jeanne, admiring the beauty of this northern princess. He couldn’t believe he had been in bed with a woman like her. It felt like a dream, but it wasn’t at all. This was now his reality; this was now his world—at least until he found a way back ho.

Every now and then, Jeanne would hint that she wanted to repeat that mont, but Mitsuki would act like a coward and run away, just like he did with everyone else. It contradicted his thoughts constantly, because there were tis when he wanted to pounce on her and do all sorts of things, but he simply couldn’t. He didn’t have the courage to deepen his relationship with her.

This brings us to a week after those events: Mitsuki raised his sword high and delivered a powerful downward slash that contrasted with his slender body. Not even the leaves of the trees moved, yet the strike had enough strength and technique to deal damage to a real opponent.

Jeanne applauded him in praise.

"You’ve made a lot of progress in just a few days. Now you don’t just have talent for magic, but for the sword as well. You’re quite the prodigy."

Mitsuki lowered his sword, tired and breathing heavily. "I don’t know. I’ve hit a wall with magic. I haven’t been able to learn new elental spells or any of the basic spells Ellegaard showed . It feels like I’m wasting my ti practicing sothing I can’t master."

She shook her head, sitting on the grass as she did every day.

"It’s all a matter of patience, Mitsuki. No one becos strong overnight. Besides, rember that Ellegaard is an elf, a long-lived race. She’s had plenty of ti to reach where she is now. You, on the other hand, are just getting started."

Sticking the sword into the ground and lying down, Mitsuki closed his eyes.

’I know. I already know. Maybe I’m rushing things too much, but when I see how strong you all are, I can’t help but think I can’t do anything on my own, and that frustrates too much. I’m supposed to be the best of all, soone who can master anything that passes through my hands, but—’

Jeanne stood up, walked toward Mitsuki, and lay down beside him. Neither her steps nor her armor made any sound, strange as that seed. She looked at him with a smile, waiting for him to open his eyes.

"But you don’t have to overwhelm yourself thinking you’re weak—you are, but you’ll have ti to beco strong."

Jeanne’s voice, so unexpectedly close, made Mitsuki frown as he looked to his side. He imdiately t the gaze of the beautiful princess. He placed his hand on the ground to push himself away from her, but Jeanne grabbed his hand, stopping him from fleeing.

"You run away from all the ti," she said, pulling Mitsuki’s head into an embrace. "You run away from everyone all the ti."

Instead of feeling embarrassed, Mitsuki thought about it for a mont. Ever since he ran into the Blondie again in that alley, he had sohow started distancing himself from everyone. He knew the reason why.

"Is sothing bothering you?"

At the question, Mitsuki closed his eyes, relaxing as he said, "Not really. I’m fine, I always am."

Despite his answer, Jeanne raised her hand and gently stroked his hair. Just a few weeks ago, they had been strangers, yet sohow, in a bizarre way, they had grown close enough to do this kind of thing.

His body shivered at the touch of Jeanne’s fingers in his hair. He was about to tell her to stop, but she said sothing that stopped him.

"If you say so, then it must be true. But ever since Ellegaard and I t you, we noticed sothing was off about you. You seed afraid of people, you didn’t like talking much, and you almost never gave your opinion on things. In fact, that last part still holds true. You never complain about anything openly..."

Mitsuki’s expression darkened slightly.

"What’s the point of complaining when things aren’t going to change?"

"That’s... a good question, but that’s not the point of what I’m saying. I just want to know who you are—who the person I gave my virginity to is."

Those words hit like a bucket of cold water. Mitsuki nearly choked on his own saliva. Just when he thought the conversation was heading in the sa direction as it had with Aslan, Jeanne flipped it completely.

"I’m just saying, a woman’s first ti is sothing very important, and you didn’t seem to care."

"U-Uh... I think it’s getting late. It’s already getting dark," Mitsuki said nervously. His voice trembled far too much. Then he shot up to his feet. "Let’s go back to the city. Hurry!"

He ran away again, but Jeanne chased after him.

"Hey! You’re not running away again!"

’What do you even want to say?! It was my first ti too! I do care! I care a lot! But why are you talking about that when we were getting serious?!’ He ran with all his strength, but suddenly tripped over soone.

Strangely, the person he bumped into didn’t fall. Instead, they remained completely still, like a wall. When Mitsuki looked up, he realized it was none other than Galahad, accompanied by his Shadow Heralds.

"Oh, Mitsuki. What a coincidence. I was just on my way out of the city," said the Herald, offering him a hand, but Mitsuki stood up on his own.

"Mitsuki?" Jeanne arrived at the scene, but frowned upon seeing the Heralds.

"Hmm... You must be the princess of the Sardonyx Kingdom. It’s a pleasure to finally speak with you, but unfortunately, I must take my leave. Goodbye, Mitsuki. I hope we can discuss our literary tastes another ti."

He gave Mitsuki a light pat on the back and continued on with his companions, but stopped to say one last thing.

"Things are going to get a bit more hectic from now on. The world is changing, after all, but I’ll do my best to tip the scales in our favor. I’ve already spread the truth in this city, so I’ll head to the next one."

Then, Galahad and his companions disappeared into the crowd walking around the area.

’The truth...?’ Mitsuki looked at Jeanne, and she returned his gaze without understanding anything that was happening.

"Those people were... Did you know that person, Mitsuki?"

He looked away.

"I ran into him in the library several tis. He was the one who approached , but even when I ignored him, he wouldn’t stop talking."

"I see... What he said at the end was strange..."

’I think so too,’ Mitsuki thought, looking at the people murmuring among themselves. Everyone looked deeply troubled, so with expressions of fear and concern.

Then they heard sothing among the crowd.

"They say the Kingdom of Holylight has been purged of the Ash."

The words spread like whispers from beyond the grave through their minds.

"The Shadow Heralds ca here to investigate that."

"That ans..."

"We’re dood."

Jeanne heard everything as well and lowered her gaze in concern. Unconsciously, she placed a hand on Mitsuki’s shoulder before hearing the rumor that would change the world.

"They say the Herald of the Unnaable has finally descended from beyond the stars."
