Monar dragged Mitsuki along to the next rooftop, but the flas followed both of them as the beast roared, spewing its powerful blaze.

The incandescent crackling nearly caught up to them, but a sharp click sounded from the creature’s throat—and an instant later, the flas went out.

Landing nearby, Monar and Mitsuki watched that reaction, trying to figure out if it could be useful to them. However, a sudden barrage of light arrows swept over the creature, piercing its mbranous wings and forcing it back to the ground.

Mitsuki turned his attention a few ters away. Azel was kneeling atop a small tower of a large ruined building. He held his dark bow with a much more serious expression.

’When did he—?’ Monar was supposed to always carry Azel’s bow. Mitsuki got his answer when he looked at the dark elf, who gripped his staff tightly. ’I see...’

In monts of need, the group acted instantly. Wasting ti ant losing their lives. It made him realize he hadn’t been taking the dangers around him seriously enough.

Once again, the beast rose, roaring. Its wings spread open once more, regenerating the mbrane damaged by the arrows.

Azel clicked his tongue, annoyed. anwhile, Mitsuki raised his shotgun and aid.

’We have to do sothing. Anything to survive!’

[ The skill "Water Elental Magic" has been activated. ]

This ti, the weapon didn’t roar like when flas filled its chambers. The openings of the shotgun glowed faintly with the blue color of the ocean, releasing small particles at the muzzle that gradually faded away.

Seeing this, Monar frowned.

"We’ll be the main attack force, Mitsuki. Azel and Marco will handle the distraction."

"How interesting," Mitsuki replied, watching the beast set its sights on Azel. "I was thinking the exact sa thing... just in a different way."

"What do you an?"

The beast roared, igniting its flas to attack Azel. The man made a frightened face and jumped to the next rooftop. Suddenly, Marco appeared running across one of the rooftops. He leapt forward and climbed onto the beast’s back, driving his sword into it.

The Ash Dragon roared violently, thrashing its body. By aiming for the creature’s spine, Marco sought to incapacitate it—just like humans, the spine was the support of the entire body. Without it, the body couldn’t move.

Unfortunately for him, the dragon’s scales were far too tough, and the blade barely made any progress.

Azel drew his bow, frowning as he tried to aim more precisely. However, he couldn’t shoot—Marco was still on it. For now, firing wasn’t a good idea.

Taking advantage of the distraction created by those two, Mitsuki said:

"The dragon isn’t stupid—we’ve already seen that. Even so, there’s sothing strange. Every ti it breathes fire, there’s a mont when a sharp click in its throat snuffs out the flas."

"You an... the flint?"

Mitsuki nodded.

"It’s like a lighter, right? If we soak it with water, it won’t be able to ignite the ash anymore—or breathe fire at all."

"I see. Then what do you propose? We don’t have much ti. The dragon could start using magic at any mont."

As if inviting disaster, a powerful rumble echoed through the sky. The clouds darkened as thunder roared in the distance. The dragon, exhaling a small cloud of ash, soared high into the air—taking Marco with it.

"Damn it..." Azel growled, left with no choice but to fire at the creature’s wings, praying he wouldn’t hit his companion.

Four arrows of light tore through the air, piercing the mbrane and grazing Marco’s cheek, who clicked his tongue while trying to drive his sword deeper into the dragon’s spine.

Thanks to Azel’s risky move, the creature’s wing mbranes tore apart, preventing it from ascending any further. Marco held tightly onto the sword embedded in the beast, because what ca next would be the worst part.

Both of them plumted toward the ground. The beast twisted midair, regaining so stability to slow its descent. Unfortunately for both of them, it wasn’t enough.

Boom! Ash burst upward as the dragon crashed. Marco jumped at the last second, rolling through the ash until he ca to a stop, planting his sword into the ground.

"Still not enough," he said.

The beast rose from the crater left in the ground and spread its wings. It roared at full volu, hurting the ears of anyone who heard it.

Marco grimaced as he covered one ear with his hand.

Once again, arrows cut through the air and rained down upon the enraged beast—but this ti, it was different. The powerful roar began generating shockwaves that disintegrated the arrows midair.

Marco was affected as well, forced to step back under the sudden assault.

More arrows flew from the rear, where Azel gritted his teeth, irritated that his attacks were no longer effective.

"There’s no other way. This is my fault, so I’ll have to use that arrow."

Preparing his bow to charge his next attack—because he couldn’t allow the dragon to harm his companion—he frowned and whispered a few words.

However, suddenly, a large wind bullet struck the beast, forcing it to close its mouth. The dragon shook its head, confused—but once again, another wind bullet pushed it back.

And another...

And another...

Seeing this, Marco tensed every muscle in his body. This was no longer a ga—everyone had to get serious. So he charged at the dragon, appearing instantly before that monstrous being.

For a brief mont, the dragon showed a sinister grin on its fang-filled snout, as if this was exactly what it wanted—but once again, soone wasn’t going to allow it.

A much larger wind bullet than the previous ones shot forward at the speed of sound, breaking the tension and forcing the creature back once more.

Marco didn’t hesitate and attacked, but the beast used its powerful claws to stop him, triggering a sudden clash.

Near where Azel stood, Monar aid his magical staff at the dragon. A magic circle—filled with straight and flowing patterns in an ancient language, glowing with the green of nature—spun behind him.

"Mitsuki!"

The call echoed. An improvised plan began as the boy ran between the buildings. He gripped his shotgun tightly, his determined gaze marking the beginning of the true battle against this legendary creature.
