"T-this... I... don’t understand," Lyra muttered quietly, finally finding her breath as she stared at the kneeling figure up ahead.

Lena, at the side, was not so different, still reeling from the shock as she struggled to process what she had just seen.

From how he had rescued her and her team, his willful control over his magical dark blades, she could have sworn he was a mage. But from what she had just witnessed, she wasn’t sure about that anymore.

Tearing apart level ten dire wolves as if they were nothing. She doubted even regular warriors could replicate that feat. Beasts’ physiques were widely known to be far stronger than that of any warrior at the sa rank.

This was just stupendous... she gasped, staring blankly. Her mouth opened repeatedly, but no words slipped out.

And the overwhelming bloodlust that had filled the dungeon tunnel as he slayed beast after beast was just inexplicable.

How many beasts did one have to kill to amass such an amount of killing intent? Was he killing beasts before he awakened? But that wasn’t possible. Mortals couldn’t slay even the weakest awakened beasts. All this didn’t make any sense.

She breathed heavily, trying to process everything. Had she been wrong all this while? Lyra mused, her eyes narrowing further as her brows furrowed in thought.

Ever since that mont he dragged her to the dungeon tunnels and massacred a pack of low-level wolves without breaking a sweat, she had naturally assud he was a mage.

But it seed that was the case.

At least that was the only feasible explanation for what she had just seen. Had he been holding back all this ti?

The thought caused her mouth to slightly gape open, slowly circling the kneeling figure before snapping out of her daze as she regained her composure.

Walking up to him, her blue eyes fell on his fra, inspecting him thoroughly. Then she sighed in relief.

Staring at his figure a few monts ago had allowed her a glimpse of his being. The savage brutality as he smashed and tore the beasts into pieces couldn’t help but send a shudder of fear down her spine. Almost like watching a completely different version of himself.

But it seed as if he was struggling against sothing. Seeing his body largely fine couldn’t help but ease her worries. The familiar glint in his crimson eyes only reassured her.

Still, her mouth parted, letting the words burning at the back of her mind out.

"Are you o-okay?" Her breath hitched for a mont.

Seeing Lyra clinging tightly to his waist, her fingers digging into his robe as she searched him for wounds, his lips parted slightly, a faint smile forming.

"I’m fine," he muttered.

He was more than fine. He exhaled sharply, clenching his fists as he sank into thought.

Just now, he almost lost control, but the power he wielded for those split seconds was maddening.

Every beast he killed seed to fuel him, flushing his body with energy. If he could learn to control that power...He hissed, a cold breath escaping his lips.

He could stack power endlessly. Even if for a brief mont. All he needed was control. Yes. He growled, slipping into a mad rave. If he could allocate more of his attributes to spirit, intelligence, and willpower. Then maybe, just maybe, he could do it without losing his mind. He would be unstoppable.

The smile on his face widened as droves of excitent flooded his being. If wielded right... his physique’s potential could equally rival that of his talent... if not even exceed it.

His ntal barrage was suddenly cut short as Lyra thumped his chest.

Before hurriedly retracting, a pained whimper escaped her lips.

"That’s for scaring ... why didn’t you tell you were this strong?"

Looking down, he sighed softly, rembering her panic-stricken face a few monts ago.

"I did tell you," Ulric murmured, raising his hand to slowly caress her face.

"Huh?" Lyra blinked, feeling the warmth of his touch as his words drifted into her. He did?

Her mouth opened to question so more before slowly closing as realization dawned on her.

Every ti they had faced stronger opponents, the first thought was to run. The first being back then before he had even awakened his class, and now against the dire wolves.

But each ti, he had reassured her. She was just blinded by her weakness... to see his full strength. As the thought crossed her mind, her fingers clenched tight, almost drawing blood from her palms.

Weakness... it all stemd from that.

Rembering the feel of panic and anxiety as she couldn’t do anything was sickening. For a second, she had felt unfiltered helplessness, sothing she didn’t want to experience ever again.

If he hadn’t been as strong as he was, all her fears would have been confird. She had promised to protect him, yet again and again, she had failed.

The thoughts clawed at her. His touch against her cheeks only pressed in the guilt before determination surfaced, glinting in her blue eyes.

This ti, she was going to do sothing about it. Taking a step back, her eyes lifted to lock with his.

"I’m too... weak," Lyra muttered, seeing him easily defeat two dire wolves only emphasizing the gap.

At this state, she wasn’t any use to him. She needed to get stronger. Fast. Find her path.

She couldn’t be left behind.

Today she had failed, but the next ti he needed her by his side, she would be ready.

Seeing the multiple emotions welling on her face, Ulric breathed out softly, slowly extending his hands to cup her face.

He already knew this ti would co as the gap between their strength grew wider, just not this soon.

Leaning forward, he planted his lips over her head, his breath drifting into her ears.

"Everyone has their path. Go find yours."

Two behemoths couldn’t share a single peak. With her talent, he believed her growth would be more explosive out on her own. There she could kill beasts freely to gain as many experience points as possible.

Nodding at his words, tears welled in her eyes, but she forced them back. Slowly walking away as she clenched the staff in her arms tighter.

His eyes trailed over her figure, watching her go back the way they ca, toward weaker beasts.

When her figure crossed a hundred ters, she suddenly turned, waving toward him as she yelled out.

"I won’t disappoint you!"

"See you on the other side," he smiled, watching her scamper off into the distance.
