Even against Piao Miaoxu, the final boss of the Love Saint ending, if An Qixiu had been present, the protagonist could probably have defeated her in a single move. This would have ruined much of the ga’s enjoynt, so they invented this terminal illness to ensure she couldn’t participate in the endga.
