Ah-Ling nodded, understanding the paranoia wasn’t unfounded. If soone had poisoned Miss Yuyan, if they’d used sothing as exotic as supernatural cold poison, they’d have had help. Inside help.
"I also want the doctors to be vetted tomorrow, Audi done... So shady business has been going on in there for an unknown amount of ti since I have been slacking, send our people to do an investigation, and also check the accounts before they do a massive clean up...." Did they think he wouldn’t act, how dare they play shady business in his hospital?
"On it, Master." Ah-Ling imdiately began making calls, his voice low and efficient as he contacted the security team.
Within minutes, the process began.
The butler was called to the entrance hall and quietly inford that his services were no longer needed. The maids were gathered and given the sa news. Kitchen staff, groundskeepers, everyone, all politely but firmly dismissed with generous severance packages and glowing references, but dismissed nonetheless.
So were confused. So were hurt. A few were angry.
But none dared argue with Sixth Master Lu’s direct orders.
By the ti the sun set completely, casting the mansion in darkness broken only by strategically placed lights, the old staff was gone.
New people began arriving, mbers of Lu Yuze’s personal security team, their spouses and family mbers who could be trusted, people who owed their livelihoods directly to Lu Yuze and had no connections to his late wife’s family or potential enemies.
The mansion that had been a ho beca a fortress.
And in the sitting room, two won slept peacefully on couches, completely unaware of the upheaval happening around them.
Lu Yuze watched them both, his magazine forgotten in his lap, and made a silent vow.
Whoever had tried to kill his daughter would be found.
And when they were, they would learn exactly why people feared the na Lu Yuze.
Not because of his wealth.
Not because of his business acun.
But because you threatened his family, he beca sothing far more dangerous than a CEO.
He beca a father with nothing left to lose.
And there was nothing more terrifying than that.
The sound of screeching tires on gravel echoed through the evening air, disrupting the quiet atmosphere that had settled over the Lu estate.
Lu Yuze’s head snapped up from his magazine, his expression imdiately hardening. He glanced at Ah-Ling, who had just re-entered the sitting room after coordinating the staff dismissals.
"I thought I said no visitors," Lu Yuze said coldly.
"Yes, Master. I inford everyone...." Ah-Ling was already pulling out his phone, checking the security feed. His face went pale. "Master, it’s Chen Ting. He drove straight through the outer gates before security could stop him. He’s demanding to see you."
Chen Wan, who had been sitting quietly on her couch, went rigid. All the color drained from her face, and her hands began trembling violently. "No," she whispered, her voice cracking with terror. "No, no, no... He found . He’s here. He’s...."
She started hyperventilating, her eyes wild with panic, looking around frantically as if searching for an escape route.
"Who is Chen Ting?" Lu Yuze asked, though he could already guess from Chen Wan’s reaction.
"Her husband," Ah-Ling confird grimly. "And according to our files, he’s...."
The front doors burst open with a bang that echoed through the entrance hall.
Heavy footsteps approached, accompanied by raised voices, security personnel trying to stop soone, and a man’s voice, loud and authoritative, talking over them.
"I don’t care what your master said! I’m here to collect my wife, and I’m not leaving without her! Do you know who I am? Do you have any idea what kind of connections I have?"
Chen Wan scrambled off the couch, backing into the corner of the room like a trapped animal. "Please," she begged Lu Yuze, her voice barely above a whisper. "Please don’t let him take . Please. He’ll kill . He’ll lock away forever and no one will ever find . Please!"
Lu Yuze stood slowly, his expression unreadable but his posture radiating cold authority. He glanced at his sleeping wife and daughter, both still deep in their exhausted slumber, undisturbed by the commotion, then back at the terrified woman in the corner.
"Ah-Ling, get Chen Wan out of sight. The West Wing study. Lock the door from the inside and don’t open it for anyone except ."
Since Shuyin brought her over here, she wanted to protect her, and if she went back, then she wouldn’t get that bargained baby.
"Yes, Master." Ah-Ling moved imdiately, gently but firmly taking Chen Wan’s arm and guiding her toward a side door that led to the private corridors.
"No, please, if he sees ....." Chen Wan was still panicking.
"He won’t," Ah-Ling assured her quietly. "Trust the Master. He won’t let anyone take you since it was his wife who brought you over."
They disappeared through the side door just as Chen Ting burst into the sitting room, flanked by two security guards who were clearly restraining him but not quite forcefully enough to be accused of assault.
Chen Ting was a man in his early thirties, expensively dressed in a designer suit that probably cost more than most people’s monthly salary.
Handso in a sharp, calculated way, with perfectly styled hair and a smile that didn’t reach his cold eyes. He radiated the kind of confidence that ca from years of getting exactly what he wanted, exactly when he wanted it.
Behind him stood his secretary, the nervous man from earlier, holding a briefcase and looking distinctly uncomfortable.
"Sixth Master Lu!" Chen Ting’s voice was smooth, friendly, completely at odds with the fact that he’d just forced his way into soone’s ho uninvited. "My apologies for the intrusion at this late hour. I hope you’ll forgive the breach of etiquette, but I’m here on an urgent family matter."
He took a step forward, and the security guards moved with him, still maintaining their hold on his arms.
