Chapter 1014: Chapter 1015: The Lonely Village Girl 59

Just thinking about having braised pork today made Zhang Yu’s mood soar.

Her colleagues saw her smiling expression and casually asked.

“There might be pork available today. My grandma said if she can buy so, she’ll make braised pork for .”

Zhang Yu had confidence in Li Cui, the old lady would definitely be able to buy so at.

Upon hearing Zhang Yu ntion braised pork, the colleagues couldn’t help but swallow.

“Aunt Li’s cooking skills are really…” The instructor, although never having tasted Li Cui’s braised pork, had slled its aroma which made one swoon.

The other colleagues nodded continuously, “Exactly, Aunt Li’s dishes always sll amazing.”

Everyone rembered when the kitchen chef took leave, Li Cui stepped in for two days, and they still recalled the taste of her cooking—it was truly good.

It’s not that no one considered making Li Cui the permanent cooking aunt.

But no one would suggest this because the current cook was a family mber of a deceased colleague.

Zhang Yu also believed Li Cui’s cooking skills were outstanding and could definitely et the needs of the precinct’s cafeteria.

Unfortunately, she never thought of having Li Cui cook exclusively for the precinct. For one, the old lady was getting on in years, and their family wasn’t exactly starving—they didn’t need to compete for this job.

The instructor was about to head to the office when he rembered sothing, “Oh right, today lunchti, we’re having beef.”

“Braised beef.”

Beef? Braised beef? Zhang Yu was taken aback by this and felt completely dizzy.

Since arriving here, she had hardly eaten pork or chicken, let alone beef.

If it weren’t for Old Master Zhang leaving behind a fishing rod, and Li Cui’s decent fishing skills, the chances of eating at each month would be extrely rare.

“After I get my al today, I’m going ho to eat,” regardless of the cooking aunt’s skills, she must bring the beef ho and let Li Cui taste it.

Colleagues, hearing they could have beef today, exchanged glances. A colleague often joked with the instructor and carefully asked in a probing tone, “Instructor, you see, such good at shouldn’t just be wasted.”

“Why don’t we get soone else to cook, even just for today?” Though unsure where the beef ca from.

The important thing is such good at shouldn’t be wasted, or it’d be such a waste.

“I see.” The instructor was genuinely surprised that everyone had such a request.

Seeing that the instructor didn’t imdiately reject the suggestion, everyone felt hopeful.

Zhang Yu was naturally hopeful too, although the old lady might work a bit harder, at least the at wouldn’t go to waste.

After a mont of reflection, the instructor said, “No, it’s not appropriate.”

“Previously, we asked Aunt Li to help because there was no one to cook. Now that there’s soone cooking, asking Aunt Li still isn’t suitable.”

After saying this, the instructor, fearing he’d be persuaded to change his mind, quickly dashed into the office.

Everyone initially had high hopes that it would be approved, but unexpectedly, at the last mont, the instructor gave a negative answer.

Even though they were reluctant, they understood it was sothing they couldn’t change, “Forget it, maybe next ti.”

“Yes, there will be more opportunities in the future.”

Saying this, everyone dispersed, though they all knew that chances to eat at, let alone beef, were few and far between.

All they could hope for was that today’s cooking aunt would improve dramatically, producing a delightful braised beef.

Soon, the news spread throughout the unit that braised beef was for lunch today.

Even those on outdoor duty, as lunchti approached, would remind their colleagues not to forget their al portions.

The closer it got to lunchti, the more the air was infused with a delicious aroma that confused everyone.

But slling the braised beef’s aroma, Zhang Yu couldn’t help but sigh, the beef was truly wasted.

If Li Cui were cooking, it would surely sll even better. Never mind, nothing to regret.

Zhang Yu had already planned to wash the beef at ho and let Li Cui cook it again if braised pork was made today.

Zhang Yu wasn’t the only one thinking the beef was wasted; many had the sa thought…

Despite feeling the good beef was wasted, when it was ti to eat, the al line didn’t seem any shorter.

Especially since today everyone could grab two servings, no one gave up their spot, Zhang Yu naturally swiftly took two servings.

Carrying her lunchbox, Zhang Yu prepared to head straight ho, but a colleague stopped her.

Zhang Yu glanced at them suspiciously, gripping the lunchbox tightly with the beef inside.

“Ah, little girl, why would we steal your beef, don’t worry, we have ours too,” the security captain said bluntly, “Let Aunt cook my portion.”

“Mine too.”

“Mine.”

Once one person started, others quickly joined in, before long, Zhang Yu looked at her hands full of lunch boxes.

“Are you serious?” Zhang Yu was stunned—it seed like eighty percent of the precinct colleagues needed their beef redone.

“Why not, this good at shouldn’t be wasted,” the instructor ca over, handing her two lunchboxes, “Mine and the director’s.”

My goodness, Zhang Yu felt she couldn’t even walk, “Do you all overestimate ?”

“Do you think we can carry it back?” Truly not Zhang Yu being humble, but with the lunchboxes, beef, and beef juice, it weighed at least around twenty pounds.

The instructor glanced disdainfully at Zhang Yu, “Little girl, you need more exercise.”

The security captain nodded continuously, “Exactly, exactly.”

“You should train more,” the security captain said, glancing around, “Xiao Qiao, help carry them back.”

Xiao Qiao responded, “Okay,” and walked over to Zhang Yu, taking the lunchboxes from her hands.

With her hands suddenly empty, Zhang Yu let out a long sigh, “It’s really too heavy.”

After a brief sigh, Zhang Yu knew the task was heavy, “Let’s go.”

“No rush, no rush,” the security captain said to Zhang Yu, “Tell Aunt not to rush.”

Though Zhang Yu and Xiao Qiao were colleagues, it was awkward that they weren’t really close.

As a mber of the security team, Xiao Qiao often worked outside and spent little ti at the precinct.

Walking along the road, Zhang Yu could feel the awkward atmosphere, initially pondering whether to start a conversation.

Upon reconsideration, during this era, doing so could easily be interpreted as having feelings for him.

To avoid stirring any teenage boy’s emotions, Zhang Yu stayed silent, quietly heading ho with Xiao Qiao.
