Chapter 1308: Chapter 1309: The Young Widow of the Courtyard 36

Zhang Yu just got ho, put down her bag, and took out the already-prepared vegetables to wash them.

As for tonight’s main dish, they would just have stead buns, which was easier.

While she was washing the vegetables at the sink, Zhao Fugong Daniu walked in from outside, looking displeased.

Seeing their gloomy faces, Zhang Yu could sowhat understand; after all, they initially thought they could make use of Zhao Gui’s resources, but Zhao Lin’s condition wasn’t serious.

Even if they could make a fuss about Zhao Juan pushing Zhao Lin, everyone also heard Zhao Lin badmouthing Zhao Juan.

If things got blown out of proportion, it wouldn’t really affect Zhao Juan; just a dical fee compensation, and at most, how much more could they get?

Zhao Fu initially thought that with Zhao Lin bleeding so much, this ti they could definitely get a lot from Zhao Gui, but it turned out Zhao Lin was quite healthy.

Even Zhao Juan’s kicking didn’t cause any injuries to Zhao Lin.

After Zhao Fu closed the door, he rudely started complaining, “I’ve always said Zhao Lin is a fool; in such a good opportunity, why did he dodge?”

“If only he had let Zhao Juan kick him a few tis, Zhao Gui would have had to pay.”

Zhao Fu thought about his younger son’s condition and got so angry he almost wished he could go back to last night and force Zhao Lin to let Zhao Juan kick him a few more tis.

Gong Da Niang agreed, “Now that things are like this, how do we handle it?”

“What can we do, try to get Zhao Juan’s job?” Zhao Fu replied impatiently.

“I heard the factory is about to hire temporary workers.”

“Temporary workers.” Gong Da Niang imdiately showed disinterest.

“What’s wrong with temporary work? If you’re good, you could beco permanent.” Zhao Fu knew well what his wife looked down on.

“If he manages to get in, at least it saves money.”

“Otherwise, staying ho all the ti is troubleso too.” Zhao Fu thought of the tis he saw Zhao Lin eyeing Zhao Qi.

“If we don’t find a job for the second son soon, I fear the two brothers might cause trouble sooner or later.”

Gong Da Niang didn’t argue with her husband, just sighed helplessly, knowing both sons were her own; how could she not understand them?

“But can our son get in?” Even now, Gong Da Niang thought getting into the chanical factory would be good, even if it was just a temporary job.

“It’s tough. Think about how many workers are at the chanical factory and how many kids their families have.” Zhao Fu knew once the news got out, it would be big, and many people would be sharpening their knives and fighting for this opportunity.

“Are you suggesting Zhao Gui steps in?” Gong Da Niang knew straight away that with Zhao Gui’s level, the leaders wouldn’t really care.

“Exactly. I thought he might not be willing to help, but now Zhao Juan’s foolish act changes things.”

Zhao Fu couldn’t help but feel down, knowing he couldn’t extract money from Zhao Gui’s hands this way.

“Work is money too.”

“Once they both have jobs, I think we should renovate our house too, so that when the eldest starts dating, there would be a house ready for him.” Gong Da Niang felt excited as she thought of the neighbors who had already begun renovating their own places.

“Sure, with a newer house, inviting a girl over for a potential marriage talk would be more presentable.” Zhao Fu naturally agreed with the idea of renovating the house.

“Yesterday, I saw Zhang Yu’s house; it seed really spacious. Even with two sons, they don’t have to worry about a place to stay.”

Thinking about how Zhang Yu lived in such a big house, Zhao Fu’s mood soured.

“By the way, I reckon the neighbors are also planning to renovate. We could collaborate on the construction project.” Zhao Fu knew asking Zhao Gui to help pay was absolutely impossible.

But it didn’t matter; he had another angle. “They can cover the material costs.”

“Hmpf, they’d rather adopt an orphan than foster a nephew.”

Thinking of Zhao Gui’s move irked Zhao Fu, as it ssed up all his previous plans.

Several families in the courtyard started renovating their houses. Normally, this would be big news, but the chanical factory’s temporary worker recruitnt announcent quickly overshadowed it.

Zhang Yu carried in her catch from fishing by the river at noon, and upon returning ho, noticed the already lively courtyard was buzzing even more today.

What’s going on? Zhang Yu wondered, watching the excited crowd, sensing sothing significant must be happening.

Listening in for a bit, Zhang Yu imdiately understood that the chanical factory had started hiring temporary workers.

No wonder everyone was discussing it intensely. This had nothing to do with her financially, so naturally, Zhang Yu decided to leave.

While Zhang Yu paused to observe, Zhao Lei had already run to the middle courtyard with her fish basket.

He feared that if he didn’t put the fish in water soon, they would die of dehydration.

The intensely debating crowd cast envious looks at Zhang Yu.

“Little Yu, you’re still the lucky one. You don’t have to worry about jobs for your two kids.” Everyone envied Zhang Yu, who seemingly had no worries at all.

“If possible, I wish Zhao Jun were still here.” Zhang Yu looked downcast.

Everyone agreed, knowing that if Zhao Jun were still around, his job and inco would be stable, and Zhang Yu’s life would be even better.

This thought alleviated so of their jealousy.

However, recalling the job posting at the chanical factory that day made them unhappy again. “Zhang Yu, it seems she doesn’t know.”

“The factory is hiring temporary workers.”

“That’s great!” Zhang Yu appeared genuinely surprised, “That’s definitely a good thing.”

“It is a good thing, but we don’t know what the factory leaders are thinking, given that it should be a benefit for the factory employees and priority should go to their families.”

Another neighbor got angry at the thought, “You didn’t know, did you? There aren’t any restrictions, as long as you have a Capital City residence and are a junior high graduate, you’re eligible.”

The requirents were the sa as those during steel plant recruitnt back in the day, and Zhang Yu looked surprised, “Is that so? I rember the steel plant required applicants to be formal employees’ families.”

“Exactly.” One more person joined in energetically, expressing frustration over the factory leaders’ decisions.

On this matter, Zhang Yu could only stay silent, looking awkward.

“No, I think we can’t allow the factory to proceed this way. Initially, many workers’ kids didn’t have jobs, so even 100 positions wouldn’t be enough for themselves.”

“Why can’t they look after the factory’s employees?”

“Exactly, exactly.”

“The textile factory takes care of their employees as well.”

Hearing their intent to appeal to the factory leaders, Zhang Yu shrugged and walked away.

Even as they spoke passionately about taking action, Zhang Yu knew this effort would not succeed.

Uninterested in the ongoing discussion, Zhang Yu headed ho to handle the fish. Today’s catch was nice, perfect for making fish soup with so fresh greens for visual appeal.

While dealing with the fish at the sink, Zhang Yu wondered which leader this significant event should be reported to.
