Chapter 1312: Chapter 1313: The Young Widow of the Courtyard 40

Zhang Yu could already imagine that the neighbors might imagine them eating at the recycling station instead of at ho.

In the future, they would eat at ho even less often, letting the neighbors scratch their heads and wonder what they were eating.

As Zhang Yu expected, when their family of three, along with Old Man Wang, were eating at the recycling station, the people in the courtyard were feeling uncomfortable.

“It’s already this late, why haven’t Zhang Yu and her family co back?”

“Yeah.”

The air was filled with the aroma of fish soup, making their mouths water, and they felt uneasy.

When Zhang Yu’s family didn’t co ho to eat, everyone felt uncomfortable, wondering what Zhang Yu’s family was eating, and they really wanted to know.

After finishing the al, Zhang Yu leisurely brought her child back ho. When they arrived, her husband and child were chatting and playing in the courtyard.

As for the won, they were by the sink washing dishes, chatting as they did so; the courtyard was indeed lively.

When Zhang Yu and her family pushed the cart into the courtyard, she could clearly sense the atmosphere there. For a mont, she thought there was no one in the courtyard.

Zhang Yu pushed the cart through the crowd; since they didn’t greet her, she didn’t greet them either.

Zhao Lei and Zhao Hong greeted the crowd like they were shouting commands, not waiting for a response, and quickly rushed back to their ho.

Everyone watched as the lights in Zhang Yu’s house turned on, looked at each other, and wondered if anyone would speak up.

But after a long watching, no one spoke.

Zhang Yu didn’t care about the looks from the crowd. Once she got ho, she started the fire straight away; since she wasn’t planning to have lunch and dinner at ho, she didn’t bother lighting charcoal stoves.

She quickly got the stove fire going, and just when everyone thought she was preparing dinner, Zhang Yu put a kettle on the stove.

Soone couldn’t hold back, “Zhang Yu, have you eaten?”

“Yes.” Zhang Yu replied simply.

Zhao Lei brought the bathtub to the courtyard to soak it; the weather had been dry lately, causing the bathtub to contract.

This way, before each bath, he had to soak it to let the wood absorb water; otherwise, hot water would flow away when bathing.

Everyone watched the mother and son working without speaking.

They thought, they had already initiated conversation, why was Zhang Yu still like this, cold and indifferent; it really didn’t match their initial expectation.

They thought, once they talked to Zhang Yu, she should be excited and warmly engage with them.

Instead, Zhang Yu only answered simply without wanting to engage in conversation.

This really confused them; they really didn’t understand whether Zhang Yu was unaware of her situation.

She was now a widow with a child; in the future, she might need the help of these old neighbors, how could she act so superior.

Zhang Yu didn’t care what they thought, even though they ca ho at night, she couldn’t resist cleaning the dusty floor.

“Xiao Lei, go and clean the floor and stairs.” Zhang Yu reminded Zhao Lei.

In the central courtyard, when the crowd heard that Zhang Yu was preparing to mop the floor and asked Zhao Lei to go upstairs to mop.

“It’s already night, yet she’s still mopping the floor, can’t understand what they’re thinking.”

“Exactly, they’re using so much water.” Soone grumbled angrily.

Everyone looked at the speaker, “You shouldn’t complain about Zhang Yu, you’re at the sink all day, hogging one faucet.”

“Yes, if you keep making a fuss, she’ll ntion installing a separate faucet. Isn’t Zhang Yu’s family using water quite heavily?”

Not heavily at all; they are dual-inco couple, busy with work, not constantly at the sink cleaning.

If she does install a separate ter, she’ll pay for her water usage, while others will pay extra water fees.

The complainer was unhappy; although no one stood by her, neither did they leave, staying here allowed so rest.

Once ho, there would certainly be plenty of housework waiting for her. During the marriage proposal, she thought her mother-in-law seed nice; although there was an older brother, he didn’t work, even if chores were needed, they should be done together.

Only after marrying did she realize the chores were for the new wife, aning she took on the most, while the older sister handled only kitchen tasks and laundry.

As for her in-laws and siblings’ clothes, as well as their own clothes and all household chores, except for cooking, she did everything.

Of course, she was unhappy, especially seeing Zhang Yu living well, she felt very unhappy.

Both being wives, even though her husband died, Zhang Yu’s days were good, the house was renovated, she was in control at ho.

And most importantly, she ate well, usually having fish two or three tis a week.

Thinking about her household als, she couldn’t rember the last ti she had at, even if at was bought, with in-laws and siblings, how much could she eat?

She really regretted it, wondering why she hastily thought this family was good, she should’ve chosen more wisely.

Zhang Yu wasn’t aware, the gripes of a young wife stuck miserably living with her in-laws, venting anger on her, believing she shouldn’t live well as a widow.

Zhang Yu efficiently mopped the floor, then put boiling water into the thermos, and continued heating water.

Once Zhao Lei finished mopping, she let him bathe first, followed by Zhao Hong, with Zhang Hong taking the last turn.

After bathing, she washed clothes, hanging them by the door before sleeping.

Everyone waited, but didn’t see Zhang Yu preparing dinner, “Did they really eat dinner at the recycling station?”

“Will they always eat there?”

They weren’t really concerned where Zhang Yu ate, what they cared about was, “Wondering what Zhang Yu gained.”

“Yes.”

“Recently, Old Li from the neighboring courtyard went fishing by the river all afternoon and caught nothing.”

“Old Cao from the alleyway fished by the river all day and had little to show, just two small catfish, hardly enough to fill a tooth gap.”

Everyone was discussing current news; since learning about Zhang Yu’s fishing and adding at to her family als, the courtyard—it was a sensation, even the neighboring courtyard was envious.

Zhang Yu’s courtyard hadn’t acted yet, but the neighboring courtyard already tried.

However, results were poor; vanishingly little was harvested, best described as grim.
