Chapter 1500: Chapter 1501: The Three-Lost Girl 8
Zhang Yu’s heart was bubbling with happiness, but at this mont Cheng Jian was so angry he could almost spit blood.
If he hadn’t wanted to take a good look to make a perfect presentation later, he wouldn’t have realized that Zhang Yu hadn’t completed the proposal.
At this point, the proposal isn’t done; what now? He really felt like killing soone.
“This is a disaster.” Today is a big day. To show the importance they place on him, Jiang Lili’s elder cousin will also be present, which is a signal to everyone that he is Jiang Lili’s man, the Jiang family’s son-in-law.
When people try to deal with him, they’ll have to consider his background.
Of course, this is all based on the premise that he gets promoted to manager. If he doesn’t do well in his presentation today, can he still be promoted smoothly?
His competitor is also quite capable and performs no worse than him; it’s just that because of lesser family connections, his competitor has unfortunately lost to him before.
“Damn it.” He can imagine that if he doesn’t do well in the presentation, he’ll be finished. The other party will surely make a coback, and he’ll have to live under their shadow.
This is such a good opportunity. If he misses it this ti, who knows when the next one will co.
“Damn it.” Swearing under his breath, Cheng Jian reluctantly decided to call Zhang Yu. Regardless of everything, he needs her to step in now.
Unfortunately, after trying for a while, no one picked up the phone, and there was no response on QQ either. It made him furious.
He couldn’t just go looking for Zhang Yu at this point, since at the workplace he rarely sought her out, considering its impact and also preparing for a possible breakup.
But given the special situation now, if he doesn’t go to Zhang Yu, how will the proposal get finished?
But if he goes to find her, what if she gets emotional and lets sothing slip?
This had Cheng Jian pacing in circles with anxiety. After thinking about it for a long ti, he decided to go to Zhang Yu after all.
Promotion opportunities are rare; if he misses this one, who knows when another might co.
Just as he made up his mind to find Zhang Yu, Jiang Lili, in a dress of Grandma Xiang’s style, walked over, “Everything ready?”
“Early this morning, my brother called , telling you to prepare well.” Jiang Lili wasn’t concerned about the proposal being poorly written, just worried that soone might get nervous.
But she found him wearing a worried expression, “What’s wrong with you?”
Cheng Jian initially didn’t want to say anything, fearing that if he did, Jiang Lili would curse him, but if he didn’t and she found out he went to Zhang Yu, it wouldn’t end well.
He quietly pulled Jiang Lili aside, “I just discovered the proposal isn’t finished.”
“What, not finished?” Jiang Lili exclaid in shock, not expecting this at all.
Cheng Jian quickly covered her mouth, “Please, can you not say that out loud?”
Jiang Lili pulled his hand down, “You idiot, why didn’t you check?”
“How could you not handle such a small matter? What are you going to do? Let tell you, my brother said you’re in the clear for promotion today.”
“The premise is that your proposal is excellent. And now you’re telling it’s not finished? I’m really pissed off.”
“Why didn’t you review it carefully yesterday?” Jiang Lili shot him a series of glares, “You know how important this proposal is, yet you still didn’t do a good job.”
“How can you be so stupid?” Jiang Lili really unleashed her fury.
Cheng Jian felt aggrieved, yesterday he had gone to Zhang Yu’s house, originally wanting to check on its completion, but Jiang Lili kept calling, urging him to hurry up, so he just started it.
But could he say this? Definitely not, Jiang Lili would just accuse him of shirking responsibility.
Cheng Jian could only wait for Jiang Lili to finish her outburst, then go find Zhang Yu.
He thought she’d only be ranting for ten or so minutes, and anyway, he still had ti to see Zhang Yu after.
What he didn’t expect was that today was just as important to Jiang Lili as it was to him.
The thought of losing face in front of her elder cousin made Jiang Lili livid, and in her foul mood, she tore into Cheng Jian.
Cheng Jian had been scolded by Jiang Lili before, but back then it was always in private. He could handle it to so extent. Now, even though it was in the corridor, it was during working hours and people might see them.
Feeling extrely embarrassed, Cheng Jian’s dislike for Jiang Lili accumulated greatly, but as much as he was disgruntled, he could only endure.
Looking at the ti, it was almost nine o’clock. If he didn’t go find Zhang Yu now, she’d be about to go into a eting.
“Lili, I know it’s all my fault, but the problem has already happened; what we need to do now is solve it. Do you agree?” Cheng Jian couldn’t help interrupting Jiang Lili.
Jiang Lili hated being interrupted, but Cheng Jian’s words reminded her that solving the problem was the priority now.
“Then why aren’t you dealing with it?” Jiang Lili said angrily, “Right, hasn’t she already done the first part, why can’t you just continue writing?”
Also a graduate of R University, she’d seen countless proposals and should be able to continue writing them.
Write it himself? That never crossed Cheng Jian’s mind, “I could continue, but I can’t write it as well. The first part is good, but the latter part may not match.”
“Useless.” Jiang Lili knew Cheng Jian was useless, otherwise, no matter how much she scolded him, he wouldn’t retaliate. Yet, she was still in a foul mood.
Cheng Jian was so angry that the veins on his hand bulged. He admitted he was average in ability, but he wasn’t soone Jiang Lili could just scold.
If he was trash, what was Jiang Lili considered? At least he could write part of a proposal, even if others did it better, Jiang Lili couldn’t write one at all; she always had others do it.
“Go.” Jiang Lili waved her hand to shoo him away, “Rember to complete this task, otherwise you’ll just remain insignificant.”
Cheng Jian grunted a response, rushing to find Zhang Yu, but he still didn’t forget to call her.
Zhang Yu saw his na flashing on the phone, thought for a mont, then answered with a hint of indifference: “What’s up?”
Cheng Jian missed the indifference in Zhang Yu’s tone and instead spoke with so anger: “Zhang Yu, didn’t you promise to help with the proposal? Why isn’t it finished?”
Zhang Yu had anticipated how Cheng Jian would approach this, especially since he hadn’t co to her beforehand, but he was so straightforward.
Zhang Yu: “How do you know the docunt isn’t finished?”
Zhang Yu: “Did you co to my house?”
Zhang Yu: “When did you co? You didn’t notify .”
Cheng Jian didn’t expect Zhang Yu to not answer his question but instead question him, which made him angry: “Is that important? I’m in a hurry here, why didn’t you finish the proposal?”
Cheng Jian: “Don’t you know I’m in a rush?”
Zhang Yu: “Of course it’s important. You ca to my house and didn’t notice I was unwell, didn’t stay with ?”
Zhang Yu: “If the landlady saw you and said you ca and left in a hurry, I wouldn’t even know you were here.”
Zhang Yu: “I was going to continue working on it, but the docunt was gone, not even in the recycle bin. How could I continue?”
Zhang Yu: “I thought you’d finish it yourself; I have my own proposals to run through.”
