Jiang Lili tid it perfectly, tidied herself up, and went downstairs. Today, Cheng Jian was coming to the office to pick her up, so she naturally had to make a good impression.

Colleagues passing in and out of the office building were taken aback when they saw Cheng Jian. Back when he left, everyone had so idea of the situation—that he left to avoid the Jiang Family, going straight to work elsewhere.

Having been away from City S for years, why would he be back now? Everyone was puzzled, wondering whether it was for Jiang Lili or Zhang Yu.

Thinking it over, everyone believed it should be for Zhang Yu, considering Jiang Lili was down and out now and her reputation wasn’t good, Cheng Jian would likely choose Zhang Yu.

Soon, the gossip in both big groups and small groups was buzzing, as everyone guessed Cheng Jian’s reason for returning.

Soone even opened a betting pool, letting everyone wager whether it was for Jiang Lili or Zhang Yu, and many people ended up betting on the latter.

But the truth shocked everyone—just as Jiang Lili walked out of the office building, Cheng Jian greeted her with a large bouquet of flowers, and the two shared a passionate kiss.

Those who were present or not present but aware of the whole process were left stunned.

"I rember Jiang Lili was the one who cheated on Cheng Jian back then, causing him to angrily quit his job and leave, right?" soone uncertainly recalled, wondering if they were misrembering.

"You’re not mistaken, Jiang Lili was quite the spectacle last year during New Year’s, with photos surfacing, and then there was her studying abroad..." Everyone knew Jiang Lili liked to have fun, but none imagined she could be so reckless.

Soone was quite puzzled, "I rember Jiang Lili had a boyfriend, I saw them quite affectionately together last ti I was shopping. Did they break up?"

Just last ti, their relationship seed great, they looked like a loving couple; how co they broke up so quickly? Really baffling.

"He wasn’t a boyfriend, just a companion," a colleague sniffed, "they like to play around, and Jiang Lili wouldn’t settle for just one man."

Regardless if it was a man or woman, no one thought highly of Jiang Lili’s actions.

"I figure she’ll cheat on Cheng Jian again sooner or later," soone affird confidently.

The others nodded repeatedly, "That’s for sure, but how much did Jiang Lili offer him, otherwise why would he co back?"

If Jiang Lili didn’t offer enough benefits, soone like Cheng Jian would proactively return?

"The Jiang Family’s fallen, what could she give him now?"

"Exactly, not to ntion wanting him to rejoin China Investnt, it’s just impossible," they all knew Cheng Jian’s abilities wouldn’t allow him to co back.

Thinking of Cheng Jian’s skills, even knowing he has no backing now, causing trouble as desired, the idea of having a fool under one’s command was shivering.

"Better not to co, it’s finally good that Jiang Lili is staying in the archives room now." Otherwise, just seeing her would cause heartache.

Jiang Lili didn’t know much of the discussion among the crowd; she was just happy that Cheng Jian was as handso as ever, "Are you cold?"

Cold? Of course Cheng Jian was cold, he had been working in The South for months without experiencing such cold, it was unexpected how chilly City S could be.

"It’s manageable, let’s go." As a man, he needed to keep up appearances.

Jiang Lili didn’t delve deeper, since the man said he wasn’t cold, then he wasn’t cold, "Let’s go, we’ll grab so food first, then head back."

It had been a while since she’d seen him, sparking mories of their good old days; everyone was an adult now, no need for shyness.

"By the way, about your job?" Jiang Lili rembered Cheng Jian having found a job in a bank after moving south.

"I’m on vacation for a few days." If he enjoyed his ti with Jiang Lili, he’d resign and co to City S, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t want to co.

Jiang Lili acknowledged, back then she’d be furious, thinking Cheng Jian wasn’t listening, now she understood—it’s not just her choosing soone, the other party has to be satisfied too.

"I found an authentic place that tastes like what I ate as a child," Jiang Lili led Cheng Jian to her car.

Cheng Jian stared at the A4 before him, frozen. Previously, Jiang Lili drove only luxury cars worth millions; cars of lower status she wouldn’t drive, thinking it was embarrassing.

Who’d have thought, Jiang Lili could actually be so understated now.

Jiang Lili skillfully drove off, for her it was a matter of having a car to drive, there was no need to chase famous brands.

Cheng Jian was already shocked by Jiang Lili’s ride, but she went even further by taking him to eat at a small, casual restaurant.

Such a place was where he’d have expected to go on a date with Zhang Yu, not imagining Jiang Lili would co here.

"The food here is decent. I once drove by and saw Ye Zhuo, Zhang Yu, and Mike co here. Ye Zhuo has a picky palate, so if he ca to eat here, it says sothing about the food," Jiang Lili explained why they ca.

"I ca by once afterward, tasted good, pricing was fair." Jiang Lili comnted, "I always thought expensive ant good, now I understand it might not be."

"This is the atmosphere of everyday life," Cheng Jian recalled Zhang Yu ntioning this phrase.

Atmosphere of everyday life? Jiang Lili thought the phrase fit nicely, "Yes, it really is an atmosphere of everyday life."

While chatting, she looked for an empty spot, quickly grabbing a four-person table, her swift move leaving Cheng Jian amazed.

Jiang Lili started ordering a few dishes, "I’ve ordered so specialty dishes here, you pick two more."

Cheng Jian selected two dishes to his taste, noticing they only ordered four dishes, a soup, and a dessert—a significant change.

Cheng Jian remained silent, fearing that ntioning it would make Jiang Lili unhappy.

"Quite a big change, huh." Jiang Lili poured herself a drink, "It’s not like before, now we have to be economical."

"I just realized how reckless I was before, spending a night at the bar could be soone’s yearly expense." Jiang Lili sipped her drink while observing other diners.

Cheng Jian stayed quiet, knowing these were just words.

"The old man left little for my family, my parents didn’t give much, just so things he gave back then." Jiang Lili referred to the things without ntioning later gifts.

That was what he left her with, her final reliance, "Although not much, it’s enough for to live, not luxurious, but no worries about food and drinks, plus there’s help with chores."

Jiang Lili directly blocked Cheng Jian from any ideas of freeloading; Cheng Jian caught her aning, "I know, I’ll work hard to earn my own living."

"Good, I’ll sort out the house and car, and when the children are born, they’ll take my na." She brought up the idea of children taking her surna before and she still held that view.
