Now reading: Chapter 1939 - 1940: Female Intellectual Youth Passerby 82 from Transmigration: On the Gossip Front, a Urban novel by Qi Qi's cat.

Yao Ying was initially worried that now that Zhang Yu was no longer an intellectual youth at the farm, the rice supply might be cut off.

But she certainly couldn’t keep her daughter at the farm just for the chance to buy new rice every year.

Previously, when she heard Zhang Yu always saying nice things about the farm, Yao Ying actually didn’t quite believe it. The farm’s construction was nice, but could it really compare to ho?

Moreover, even if it’s easier, her daughter still has to work in the fields. Look at how short a ti she’s been at the farm this ti, and even though it’s not yet the busy farming season, her daughter has already gotten quite dark.

Yao Ying sincerely regretted it. Why did she consider so much before? She should have directly let Zhang Wei finalize Zhang Yu’s job with the institute back then.

She could directly handle the paperwork with her daughter here, then take everything away without needing to interact or engage with Wang Yan.

"Go to sleep early today, and then we’ll head to the farm early tomorrow." Yao Ying yawned and lay in bed preparing to rest.

To be honest, she was initially worried about not sleeping well, but unexpectedly, the bed was quite soft.

"What’s underneath here?" Yao Ying was very curious, even though she’d prepared several quilts for Zhang Yu initially, it wasn’t supposed to be this soft.

"It’s straw." This was also from the original owner’s mory.

Straw? Although Yao Ying was much older than Zhang Yu, she had never lived in the countryside and didn’t know straw had this effect.

"It’s really nice. If it’s possible, we can put it on our bed at ho too." It’s not only soft but also quite warm, though not as warm as a quilt. Quilts require cotton tickets, but for straw, just a walk in the countryside should suffice to gather so.

Thinking of this, Yao Ying truly admired herself. She really was a clever one for quickly thinking of this.

Put it on our bed at ho too? Zhang Yu listened to Yao Ying’s happy words, wanting to say that while straw is quite good and doesn’t require tickets, layering it can indeed add warmth. However, there are issues like it easily sheds tiny bits, even if daily sweeping is done, a little while later, straw bits would fall on the floor.

Zhang Yu and the others would sweep the floor once in the morning, and afterwards, no matter how dirty the floor got, they wouldn’t sweep again.

Yao Ying was a clean freak, seeing so many straw bits on the floor might make her lose it.

Originally thinking she had found a free quilt substitute, Yao Ying didn’t expect there to be quite a few problems.

But should she just give up? Thinking about it made Yao Ying unwilling, "I got it." Soon she thought of a solution.

"I can make a cover." Yao Ying truly admired herself; she quickly ca up with a solution in such a short ti.

A cover? Zhang Yu quickly understood what Yao Ying wanted to make, but doing so would an, "That will require fabric. Do we have that much fabric at ho?"

At this ti, buying cotton needs coupons, and buying fabric also requires tickets. Does our family have so many tickets?

No tickets needed, just money, Zhang Yu knew that for the Zhang Family, this wasn’t a problem; they could buy it in no ti at all. However, once tickets were involved, that’s where the problem lies.

"You can buy defective ones." Yao Ying calmly stated she had a solution.

Oh, buying defective fabric, Zhang Yu understood. That doesn’t require tickets, but the quantity of such items isn’t too much, whenever there is such stock, insiders of the mall can divide up seven or eight parts, it wouldn’t even reach the counter.

Zhang Yu knew Yao Ying had a rather broad network, otherwise after retiring, she wouldn’t be able to find substitute work either.

"Mom, do you still go to work at the community office?" Once they moved to the researcher’s family district, if Yao Ying wanted to work in the community office, it would take quite a lot more commuting ti.

"I’m not going anymore." Yao Ying used to work at the community office partly because she had nothing to do at ho, and once Zhang Jie took over, their salary drastically reduced. She wanted to work to earn so money, and most importantly, working at the community office allowed her to et more people, potentially helping to find a job.

Unexpectedly, even before she could inquire where jobs were sold, Zhang Wei arranged a job transfer, even managing to settle Zhang Yu’s job situation.

"I rented a house for Xiao Jie, right near the factory, and occasionally I’ll need to go and check up on him, then also return ho." Yao Ying already planned it out, handling household matters in the morning, then heading to the city area near Zhang Jie to see if there’s anything needing her assistance, returning ho in the afternoon.

"You’re all working, so soone has to handle logistics at ho." Originally, after her retirent she worked at the community office again, surrounding neighbors began to have so snide remarks.

If they knew Zhang Yu returned to the city working as a finance officer, Yao Ying could predict those neighbors would be largely envious, jealous, or even resentful, who knows how excessive their behaviors might get.

Zhang Yu also felt there was no need for Yao Ying to continue working, "Mom, you should just rest well at ho."

"Dad’s health needs to be nurtured."

"And take care of your health, later when Xiao Jie gets married and has children, you’ll need to take care of your grandchildren."

In the original tiline, Zhang Jie married late and had children late. He waited until he finished university and began working before reaching such pivotal milestones.

This lifeti is without her mischief, and soon she will return to the city for work; Yao Ying would likely focus more on the children’s lifelong matters.

Listening to Zhang Yu speak, Yao Ying initially wanted to say sothing, but ultimately remained silent. Although her daughter ntioned Zhao Tong and her friends were great, and she felt these three young girls were good too, there were still words to be mindful of.

Zhang Yu didn’t know Yao Ying kept silent because so things couldn’t be discussed here and thought she simply agreed.

After a busy day, already quite tired, coupled with learning such explosive news after work, even though she was prepared, ready to return to the city anyti, Zhang Yu couldn’t contain her excitent when the day finally arrived.

After excitent, she relaxed and felt exceptionally tired, plus there were a series of matters to handle the next day, along with catching the night train back, truly busy to no end.

Listening to the snoring sounds in the room, Yao Ying knew the kids were tired. She thought she might have difficulty sleeping in such an environnt, but unexpectedly, she fell asleep straight away.

When she woke up again, she found Zhang Yu was already up and had brought back breakfast from the team headquarters.

Yao Ying previously heard Zhang Yu saying millet porridge was delicious, initially thinking it was just millet porridge, how tasty could it be? But after one sip, "It really is nicely stewed."

"Yes, stewed in a big iron pot, the chef makes it tasty." As for other dishes, they’re really just casual, mainly making them cooked for eating, any further needs and you’d have to cook yourself.

Zhao Tong and her friends had already tidied up and prepared to head to work, "Little Yu, we’re off to work now. We won’t be seeing you and Aunt off."

"No worries, do we really need such formality?" Zhang Yu embraced them one by one, "I left an address, write if you need anything."

"Though I’m not at the farm, I’ll still need help from you all in the future, keep that in mind." Even leaving the farm, Zhang Yu wanted to keep in touch with the three of them.

"Understood, safe travels." After giving blessings again, the three left.
