"As for where to put the stuff, I know a good place," said Wei Dajiang, looking up at the ceiling.

Zhang Yu followed his gaze to a certain spot on the ceiling. He had once had his heart set on that place too. "I just rembered that spot."

It was a place the children didn’t know about, discovered when they accidentally cleaned it. "I also know this place is good, but I’m not driving the third one away so we can move next door."

By then, they wouldn’t be living here, and with the stuff out of her sight, Zhang Yu felt sowhat dissatisfied. Who told them to have a bit of a track record?

"They don’t know about this place, and we’re moving to the third one’s place. Would anyone in their right mind put valuable things out of sight?"

"Moreover, unless one’s line of sight is higher than that place, who would notice? Even touching it, you wouldn’t notice." If it weren’t for a stroke of luck, Wei Dazhi wouldn’t have discovered it there.

After thinking for a long ti, Zhang Yu admitted that it really was a very good place. "Okay, so do we...?"

"We’ll put it there later when the kids are sound asleep." Although this room is divided, they just put up a wall in front, and it wasn’t built very high. If you put things on the beam, you could still see them from outside.

Zhang Yu responded softly and carefully took out the items. "I’ve thought it through. When everything calms down, and the property market opens up, I’ll buy a big courtyard house."

"Alright." Wei Dazhi didn’t ask his wife why she could buy a courtyard house. Anyway, whatever his wife said was right.

"Convert these items into cash and change it into property."

"Then we’ll live in one, rent out the others, and travel around later." The original owner didn’t ntion going back to the hotown to have a look, but Zhang Yu knew that aside from cherishing the days spent with the old man, the original owner also missed his childhood.

"Then I’ll arrange for a clothing tomb for my dad and them."

"We’ll buy our tombs next to it." Zhang Yu was already very calm about the topic of death.

"Okay." Wei Dazhi acknowledged.

"By the way, let’s also arrange a burial plot for my in-laws. Do you still rember your family?" Since we’re arranging for family, we should also include the in-laws.

"Okay." Wei Dazhi never talked about his parents in front of the kids and neighbors, and he ntioned them very few tis even to Zhang Yu, but he still missed his parents and siblings.

After Wei He and his wife argued for a long ti with no one paying attention, they both found it aningless and, after exchanging glances, decided to rest since work awaited them the next day.

As their room’s light went out, the Wei family quickly fell silent. Wei Dazhi gently nudged Zhang Yu.

Zhang Yu groggily woke up, "Everyone’s asleep?"

Wei Dazhi nodded, "Yeah, everyone is resting."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yu quickly got up and was about to turn on the light when Wei Dazhi stopped her, "Don’t turn on the light."

No lights? Would they rely on the moonlight from outside? Moreover, their bedroom was at the back, and it was very dark.

"Use a flashlight." Wei Dazhi carefully brought in three chairs from the outside and stacked them together. "Support ."

Zhang Yu responded softly. Wei Dazhi climbed up, stuffed the things inside, and felt around with his hand before coming down.

"There’s still so space left."

Zhang Yu relaxed after seeing the items were put away. Since keeping them below always made her uneasy, after hearing her husband say that, she casually said, "We aren’t expecting new neighbors, are we?"

Wei Dazhi chuckled, "Hopefully."

Even though they said "hopefully," they knew not to count on it. Anyone with such treasures would hide them securely.

With the items put away, Zhang Yu felt much more at ease. Staying up late, she found that when she woke up, Wei Dazhi was already up. She then realized they had nothing to eat at ho—down to the last bit of noodles.

"There’s nothing to eat at ho," she said.

Wei Dazhi knew the remaining food was eaten by Wei Ming and the others the day before, "No worries, I’ll eat at work."

Wei Jiang and his wife discovered the pantry was empty, their faces turning sour. At first, they were happy to see Zhang Yu refunding fifty cents, but now they realized that the fifty cents had to last them for breakfast and lunch for the whole family, which was no trivial task.

Even Feng Xia, who used to whisper about losing out on their family’s food expenses, regretted it fondly now. Her husband did physical labor, eating a lot, and their son, growing every day, also had an increasing appetite. In a couple of years, he would be reaching the age that could financially ruin a father.

The more Feng Xia thought about it, the more the household’s expenses seed to grow. Previously, she could hope for her husband to pass level exams for a raise, but now those exams were suspended, and the job seed stable, with household expenses rising.

Even if Wei Jiang’s salary likely only covered the basic household expenses, losing her salary would definitely incense Wei Jiang.

Feng Xia truly wanted to help her younger brother by getting him a job and helping him find a wife, but she couldn’t sacrifice her marriage for it.

Seeing Wei Jiang and his wife’s pitiful expression made Wei Dazhi increasingly angry. "What, I don’t have food either."

"Your mom already gave you today’s al money," said Wei Dazhi irritably. "What, you want to handle breakfast after giving you money?"

"But it’s just fifty cents for two als." Wei Jiang pitifully said, initially thinking their family of four only needed 15 a month for household expenses. He always felt Zhang Yu charged too much.

Yet, averaged out, it beca clear that fifty cents daily was absolutely insufficient, considering the 15 monthly didn’t even cover school fees, children’s clothing—which were all handled by the elderly lady.

Even their personal social interactions were tallied under the 15, and now these expenses that needed to be accounted by themselves.

The more Wei Jiang thought about it, the more he realized that the family’s separation only left them at a loss. After all, mom’s refusal to separate the family wasn’t for exploitation, but to lend a hand.

The more he thought, the more he grew discontent with Feng Xia, blaming her surge to split the family as a reason for persuading him into it in the first place.

"Dad, I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have listened to Feng Xia about splitting the family," Wei Jiang definitely wouldn’t admit fault; the bla entirely landed on Feng Xia.

Wei Dazhi understood his apology’s intention right away. "Since the family is already separated, continue with it."

"You already know your mom’s health isn’t great, there will be more expenses as ti goes on. To protect her from hearing hurtful whispers of being a burden, isn’t it better for us to handle things separately like this."

"You shouldn’t complain about the amount of household money, this way you get to decide how to spend your money." Wei Dazhi retorted unceremoniously, washed up, and then prepared to leave for work.
