Brother Han watched as the old man hung up the phone, looking thoughtful. "What is it, what did he say on the phone?"

He really couldn’t stand this man Han Xue at all, a man who climbed up by relying on a woman. Since he managed to marry into the Han family, he should’ve just lived his life quietly, but this guy just had to keep stirring things up.

He clearly knew they were going after this IPO, yet he still had to fight them for this deal.

Uncle Han repeated what Lin Yu had said. "What do you think?"

Brother Han thought for a mont. "He’s right. If Uncle is targeting us, where did he get that data from?"

"News about the house transfer, as long as they make so inquiries, they could find out. It’s just so fund movents..."

Uncle Han grunted. "That’s what I think too. If it really is them, and we make a move against them, we can easily deal with them."

"But if it’s not them, wouldn’t we just be letting them laugh at us behind our backs? What’s worse is, we fail to take them down, and we don’t know how they’ll co after us in the dark." Brother Han was worried the other side still had more cards to play.

Uncle Han humd. "Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about too. But to just let Lin Yu off like this, I’m not willing."

"Son, do you think Lin Yu can land this deal?" That was what he was really worried about.

"No idea, but Lin Yu’s already asked his ex‑wife to step in." Brother Han never put this brother‑in‑law in his eyes at all. "What do you think Lin Yu’s ex‑wife is thinking?"

"The man already cheated, they’re already divorced, and she’s still willing to help." Brother Han was speechless.

"That’s because the money’s good." Uncle Han snapped impatiently.

"Even if there’s money, you can’t be like this. Does face not matter?" Brother Han really looked down on soone like Zhang Yu whose eyes only saw money.

Looking at his son nagging on and on, Uncle Han reported two sets of numbers. "One is her previous salary plus bonuses, her entire annual inco when she was working. The other is what she’s charging for this job."

"Whether or not they sign this deal, she won’t refund a single cent."

"On Lin Yu’s previous projects, she was the main one responsible for many of the proposals." Uncle Han ntioned what he’d dug up before. "You didn’t read it."

Brother Han stared blankly. "Haven’t things been pretty hectic lately? I... I just didn’t get around to it."

"You... Lin Yu himself isn’t the scary one. Zhang Yu is." Uncle Han gave a cold snort. "Lin Yu really has no eye for people."

"How co you didn’t end up marrying a daughter‑in‑law like that?" If their main branch had such a capable daughter‑in‑law, would they still need to worry about those petty people?

They wouldn’t need to worry at all; she’d be soone who could crush them effortlessly in minutes.

Brother Han rolled his eyes unceremoniously. "I dated a girlfriend in college, didn’t I? She was capable, but you guys didn’t like her."

Thinking of his ex now doing so well overseas, "Look at how well she’s doing on Wall Street, already a VP at a major investnt bank."

"Dad, it’s not that I never t capable won. It’s that you thought they weren’t good enough for ."

"Forget it, no point thinking about it. I’m already married with kids, she’s also married with kids. We were never ant to be."

When Brother Han thought of his ex‑girlfriend, of course he had feelings about it. But no matter how much he thought about it, she was doing perfectly fine now, already married with kids. Even if he went looking for her, she wouldn’t bother with him.

Uncle Han thought of that stubborn girl who once stood in front of him, and his mind drifted. She had said she would make him see her in a new light. Back then he thought she was just bragging.

Who would’ve thought the girl would turn out this impressive, completely beyond his expectations. If he’d known she’d be this capable, he really should’ve thought it over back then.

The current daughter‑in‑law’s family is a good match for theirs on paper, but the problem is she just has no ambition at all.

Ever since she married into the Han family, she’s either out shopping and splurging, or on vacation, or throwing parties. You could say she’s never made the slightest contribution.

Sigh, forget it, no point thinking about it, thinking too much is useless anyway. "Son, just forget it." Uncle Han had a lot more on his mind, but in front of his son, he really didn’t know how to say it.

In the end, he could only let out a helpless sigh. "Son, given how things stand now, what do you think we should do?"

As for what to do next, Brother Han actually had so ideas in his heart, he just knew the result wouldn’t satisfy the old man.

"Dad, if I say we pull back, what do you think?" Brother Han looked up at his father.

Pull back? Uncle Han didn’t understand. "You don’t an we just directly give up the Han family, do you?"

Uncle Han had never considered that one day he might no longer be the head of the Han family. He’d always been thinking about how to build new glory. "Son, have you thought about this? If we—I an if we are no longer the Han family, have you thought about what happens then?"

"The people we offended in the past, they’ll definitely never let us go."

"They’ll definitely take revenge on us brutally." Uncle Han was very sure. "And do you think your uncles and aunts would let us off?"

"No, they absolutely wouldn’t. They’ve had plenty of issues with us, they just had to tolerate us because of our status before."

"The mont we lose power, they’ll imdiately start coming after us in every way." Uncle Han didn’t dare imagine what things would be like for them then.

"Dad, what I an is that we temporarily give up the Han family, not truly abandon the Han family." Brother Han knew his old man simply couldn’t grasp what he ant.

"They want to kick us out so they can climb to the top, right? Then let them try."

"You an let them find out who’s really the best?" Uncle Han’s eyes lit up.

Brother Han nodded. That was exactly what he ant. "Nothing breaks, nothing stands."

Uncle Han thought for a bit. "But what if sothing big happens to the Han family, then what?"

"Worst case, it goes bankrupt." Brother Han spelled out the most terrifying outco.

"If it goes bankrupt, then it goes bankrupt. That’s not our problem, anyway. It’d be their bad luck." Brother Han said bluntly.

"But your grandpa..." Uncle Han hesitated. He still couldn’t bear to think of the old man. As for his other brothers, fine, but they couldn’t just ignore the old man.

"We can talk to Grandpa." Brother Han understood that if his father was saying this, he was basically agreeing. "After all, we really don’t have a choice."

"We wanted to lead the family forward together, but this is how things are now. There’s really nothing we can do." Brother Han was confident the old man would definitely agree.

"Besides, Dad, we want this project, and they want it too."

"And with soone behind the scenes fanning the flas, if we don’t step back, Dad, have you thought about what our future will look like?"
