68: Chapter 68 The Female Supporting Character Without a House 68_1 68: Chapter 68 The Female Supporting Character Without a House 68_1 Knowing that a lot had happened today, they would certainly need to discuss things, so after finishing her al, she briskly walked out.

Just like that, she left the space for them, letting them discuss however they wished.

Upon seeing Zhang Yu departing, Du Xia also stood up, “It’s getting late, and we have work tomorrow, so we should leave early.”

Since nobody could gain any advantage from Zhang Yu, what was there to discuss?

It was all a futile effort.

Liu Hui also gave Zhang Hong a look, and she imdiately knew what her husband ant, following suit and leaving.

Zhang Guohua watched as everyone just walked away, feeling various shades of displeasure, of course.

But there was nothing he could do; after so many events, he was probably deed to have no dignity left in their eyes.

Just as they left and Zhang Guohua was about to speak out,

“Zhang Yu is also grown up now, she has her own thoughts and standards of doing things,”

“Although we are her parents, we cannot make all decisions for her.”

“Now you regret it, but why didn’t you do well in the beginning?”

Zhang Dagu couldn’t be bothered with them either; they were all brainless, scheming for others’ money and unwilling to show even a hint of generosity.

Besides, the reason Zhang Yu wanted to adopt an older child was so she could have the child follow her completely, ensuring the child wouldn’t stay in the Zhang family and they wouldn’t have to take care of them.

She also didn’t want Zhang Guohua and the others to say whatever they pleased in front of the child.

Now Zhang Dagu simply didn’t believe that Zhang Yu had decided on adopting a child on a whim.

If it were a sudden decision, how could she be so prepared?

She must have had this idea for a long ti.

Zhang Dagu stood up, “Old lady, tidy up, let’s rest early.”

“I’ll visit so old colleagues tomorrow, see how their living environnt is now.”

Since they were buying a house, Zhang Dagu thought it would be nice to live with forr colleagues if possible, for company to chat with.

Ah, at this point, Zhang Guohua rembered that instead of focusing on Zhang Yu, he should have paid attention to Zhang Dagu and persuaded him to change his mind about the money.

But Zhang Dagu didn’t give him any chance, getting up to rest.

Zhang Guohua’s family of three left the Zhang family in a huff, their expressions turning exceptionally ugly once outside.

Zhang Yi really wanted to curse.

He had never seen such irresponsible grandparents.

Although he ended up not badmouthing Zhang Dagu and his wife, he said, “When they get old and sick and need soone to take care of them, I won’t do it.”

“They never treated well anyway.” Zhang Yi knew how stingy and miserly Zhang Dagu and his wife were; they failed to fulfill promises of housing and money.

Pan Juan realized that Zhang Guohua’s family had forgotten to take sothing with them, so she carried it and chased after them, only to overhear Zhang Yi complaining about how the elderly couple were just waiting to die, among other things.

Pan Juan was truly shocked.

Hadn’t they spent a lot on this family of three?

Yet they were still spoken of in this manner, and what made the old lady even more heartbroken was that in the face of Zhang Yi’s nurous complaints, Zhang Guohua and his wife did not utter a word of reprimand.

This profoundly saddened the old lady, and she no longer felt like chasing after them.

Now, she thought back to the ti when Zhang Yu had comnted on how Zhang Yi showed no respect for his elder and that Zhang Guohua and his wife didn’t discipline their child.

At the ti, she thought Zhang Yu was just being difficult, creating issues for no reason.

But after experiencing it firsthand, she was heartbroken.

When the old lady returned ho and saw Zhang Dagu, she rembered that all was not well with her.

If the old man saw her state, it would surely lead to trouble.

She was just about to wipe away her tears when Zhang Dagu saw them, “What’s wrong.”

“Tell the truth.” Having been husband and wife for so many years, Zhang Dagu still understood Pan Juan very well.

Connecting her recent departure with her reaction speed, he imdiately realized, “Did Zhang Yi say sothing?”

Zhang Guohua, no matter what his opinion, would absolutely not express it, but Zhang Yi was different.

This child still hadn’t been tempered by society’s harshness, blissfully unaware of how cruel the outside world could be.

When Pan Juan heard Zhang Dagu ntion Zhang Yi by na, she knew that denial was futile.

So she recounted what Zhang Yi had said after she had stepped out earlier and the reactions of Zhang Guohua and his wife, though she still slightly sugarcoated the details.

She hid so of the more extre comnts, not wanting Zhang Dagu to know; she really worried that the old man, in a mont of agitation, might suffer from a spike in blood pressure.

Even though Pan Juan had omitted so details, what she did relay was enough to infuriate Zhang Dagu, “It’s true, no matter how much you give him, he’ll never rember.”

“He only rembers what we haven’t done.”

“Then why doesn’t he think about how many promises he made us when he was younger and how few he’s kept?”

“He doesn’t show any remorse, so we shouldn’t worry ourselves sick over it.”

Zhang Dagu was surprisingly calm, which Pan Juan hadn’t expected; after all, they had spent so much ti and energy to end up with this outco—anyone would be upset.

But perhaps it was for the best not to get angry; after all, if their health declined, whom could they rely on?

When the elderly couple had been sick before, it was just daily hospital visits from their children, with Zhang Yu taking full care of them.

Now that Zhang Yu had moved away, whom else could they count on?

It truly was just the elderly couple looking after one another.

“Don’t be angry, there’s no need for anger.”

“I’ve co to see that Zhang Yi is soone you can only be kind to but can’t expect kindness from in return.”

“So don’t have any expectations.” Zhang Dagu, in fact, was also considering sothing in his heart.

While living in an elevator-accessible apartnt was a good thing – seeing a farther view and not having to climb the stairs –

the thought of Zhang Guohua and his wife’s crestfallen expressions still made it hard for Zhang Dagu and his wife to be completely heartless.

With the couple’s finances, buying a house for Zhang Yi wasn’t a big problem, but the cost of marriage was considerable.

A lavish celebration was expected, and despite Zhang Guohua and his wife having modest assets, they simply didn’t have the ans to afford it.

Should the housing situation be resolved, it would at least relieve much of their burden.

Now, hearing that Zhang Yi had spoken of them so, Zhang Dagu was suddenly struck by a disturbing thought, “That little bastard isn’t cursing us, wishing we were dead.”

Zhang Dagu rembered an old neighbor’s grandson who had cursed his own grandparents with such hateful words.

It had been a scandal at the ti, and he resolved then that his family should never have such a rebellious child.

Yet now, it had happened, and it was with their most beloved grandson; given this, “We’ll take the money.”

“We’ll buy the apartnt, we need to be good to ourselves.” Relying on the likes of Zhang Guohua, Zhang Dagu really felt uneasy.

“We’re fine while our health is good, but if it’s not, who will care for us?”

“If they simply decide not to treat us and pull the plug…” Zhang Dagu thought back to a past incident a colleague had ntioned.

It was unbearable to ponder such things, and the more Zhang Dagu thought about it, the more he felt they couldn’t give everything to Zhang Yi.
