Chapter 826: Chapter 827: 1960s Quadrangle Courtyard 75

Zhang Yu had made all the necessary preparations, remaining vigilant at all tis. For safety reasons, she now carried a fruit knife in her bag when commuting to and from work.

If by any chance soone did attack her, at least she would have a tool for self-defense.

If it wasn’t for the need to act inconspicuously at the ti, she would have very much liked to bring a kitchen knife from ho; if anyone dared to make a move on her, sorry, but she would go straight at them with the knife.

The original owner was unaware of her combat capabilities, so not many people cornered her, but now her fighting prowess had spread, and who knows if the other party would make even more thorough preparations.

For example, they might hire a master, or call in more people to use the swarm strategy.

Zhang Yu pondered over these issues all night, what exactly she should do.

After all, getting herself injured was not an easy task to execute, and one wrong move could really result in severe injury.

If the injuries weren’t serious, the leadership wouldn’t give her much credit, and she wouldn’t get much recognition during the awarding of rits, not to ntion there wasn’t much of a vacation period either.

Alas, just thinking about it is giving her a headache; putting up a fight is not easy. Forget it, don’t think about it anymore, Zhang Yu yawned. She couldn’t afford any more distractions.

She needed plenty of sleep now; only well-rested and in good spirits could she handle whatever troubles might co her way tomorrow.

While Zhang Yu had trouble resting, so did everyone else.

“If we don’t make a move soon, I’m really worried we’ll be discovered.”

“She’s just a young girl; even if she graduated in finance, so what.” So people felt that they couldn’t make a move now, as it would be easy to alarm the quarry.

“Exactly, so many experienced accountants at the steel mill didn’t spot a thing; how could a newcor like her notice?”

“You forget her father is Zhang Hao,” soone said viciously, “can you be sure he hasn’t noticed anything about that incident?”

“What if he ntions it at ho and that damned girl follows the trail, can you guarantee that nothing will co of it?” soone else interjected.

Before this person spoke up, everyone had been pushing their own views, acting as if they all had a point, but after he spoke, suddenly no one made a sound.

Everyone rembered the close call they had with almost being discovered; had soone not stopped Zhang Hao, if he truly found out, it would have spelled big trouble.

“There are so things, although we thought we’d left no loose ends, but just imagine if that girl catches onto sothing…”

Everyone shuddered at the thought, realizing that no matter where the discovery started from, they would face dire consequences.

“What are you suggesting?” soone asked quietly.

The other made a gesture, “This is my thought, the sooner the better.”

“Otherwise, things will really beco troubleso for us later on.” As these words were spoken, the previously quiet gathering buzzed with activity again, “I think it’s feasible.”

“No matter whether she has discovered anything or not, only by getting rid of her can we rest easy.”

The person who made the suggestion was truly pleased to see no objections, “Then let’s discuss how we should make our move.”

“You all know a thing or two about her strength, any ideas on how to proceed?” This person had plans but didn’t want to bear all the responsibility.

The benefits were shared by everyone, and he certainly didn’t want to shoulder the greatest burden. After dealing with Zhang Yu, he planned to slowly withdraw. If he continued to mingle with them, he truly worried that sooner or later, they would betray him.

“No matter how powerful, she’s still just a girl.”

“Did you forget who her father is? Rember, they said she’s the one who would easily crush Sha Zhu.”

“Just Sha Zhu, he might have decent fighting skills, but there are others more formidable than him.” It’s just that no one really asured up against Sha Zhu in earnest; otherwise, the kid would not have ended up in a good place.

“Right, there are many more capable than him, so who do you think we should send?”

“We can’t leave any survivors.” Soone said fiercely, “Otherwise, if she survives, the dead ones will be us.”

The crowd, initially sowhat reluctant, looked at each other after hearing this and unanimously agreed, “That’s right, she cannot be allowed to survive.”

No matter what, they absolutely could not make any mistakes, otherwise their family mbers would be subject to endless pointing and whispering in the future.

Now that they had agreed on the course of action, they needed to start considering how to execute it.

“By the way, are you certain she hasn’t found out anything?” soone couldn’t help but ask.

“Absolutely, she’s a newbie; she doesn’t know too much.” The internal informant in the finance departnt was very confident, “I saw how cautiously she looked over the accounting books.”

“No matter how clever, she’s still just a child.”

Reassured by the answer, the group continued the discussion, “We must send more people this ti.”

After a lengthy discussion, the group finally ca up with several plans.

“I know so of you still have reservations, but no matter what, we must succeed this ti,” the brain of the operation stood forward, “After this, we can’t be so brazen anymore.”

Since the steel mill had already started an investigation, it showed that the managent had grown suspicious; even if they took care of Zhang Yu this ti, it would not hinder the factory leaders’ decision to continue the investigation.

They would certainly probe further, and once discovered by the leadership, “think about the things we’ve done.”

“Once certain things are uncovered, think about the situation we’d face,” the brain was aware that these people had grown used to lavish spending, and once they stopped making money, they would struggle to adapt.

When so heard the brain suggesting to pause the business, and knowing that it might not resu as before for quite so ti, there were many objections.

But their attitudes were checked once more by the brain’s words: indeed, should their deeds co to light, they would face dire consequences.

While disgruntled at the thought of losing their lucrative earnings, and even though it might not be possible to restart their endeavors, the reality of being discovered forced them to agree.

There were still those who thought the brain was being too timid; hadn’t there been previous investigations? And what was the outco?

They still managed to slip through, with no one uncovering anything significant.

The brain, looking at the discontent underlings, suddenly felt irked, failing to understand who gave them such courage to take their warnings lightly.

After so thought, the brain regretted relying on this bunch of idiots. It felt like capsizing was imminent and worried that any mont could lead to their imprisonnt, which was frustrating.

Regret crept in, wondering why they’d been foolish enough to think that expanding operations would lead to more money.

Sure, the operation had grown, but the quality of the people involved was lacking.

What’s worse, there was more money being distributed, but it wasn’t as much as expected, and many still had strong opinions, believing their own ideas were best.

The brain had decided; once this was over, they would definitely no longer be involved and planned to leave the place.

Otherwise, one day, they would surely be dragged down to death.

Now, all they hoped for was to get through this smoothly. Even though they were still a bit short of their ultimate goal, they could no longer afford the risk.
