Chapter 846: Chapter 848: 1960s Quadrangle Courtyard 96

Zhang Yu followed the flow of people leaving work, heading ho without working overti; those days felt truly good.

As he approached the entrance of the courtyard and was about to enter from the house next door, he heard various noise coming from the courtyard.

The first thought that ca to Zhang Yu’s mind was, what has happened again?

If there’s a spectacle to be seen, one must definitely not miss out.

Neighbors around had the sa thought, and they all crowded in, rushing directly to the central courtyard.

Zhang Yu saw Xu Damao and Sha Zhu fighting, realizing this guy must have learned about his infertility.

“Sha Zhu, you’re too malicious, harboring thoughts of making childless since childhood.”

Xu Damao was furious thinking about the Xu Family being completely cut off from offspring; he didn’t even dare tell his parents, afraid to let them know the news.

He didn’t dare to imagine how heartbroken the elders would be if they knew.

Everyone seeing Xu Damao and Sha Zhu tussling thought it was over Qin Huairu, considering soone was indeed her ardent admirer.

Unexpectedly, the squabble was over a different matter, but this issue was more sensational.

“Sha Zhu has beco a eunuch, and Xu Damao is a eunuch too?” Everyone was stunned.

Initially, Sha Zhu’s situation already had everyone gossiping, then unexpectedly, Xu Damao was also such a person, prompting everyone to exclaim in shock.

“What’s with this courtyard, either childless or thieves?”

People intended to say more, but rembering there are so things that absolutely cannot be said, they shut their mouths.

The others, including those who lived there, all wondered if there was sothing awful tainting the place; otherwise, how could Yi Zhonghai and his spouse have no children, Sha Zhu beco a eunuch, and Jia Dongxu embezzle state assets.

Now, sothing even more spectacular ca up—Xu Damao also being infertile, which was of course worst; soone dashed his hopes from his youth.

Yi Zhonghai wanted nothing to do with the happenings in the courtyard anymore. He had been enthusiastic before solely because of concerns about elderly care, wanting to brainwash the courtyard dwellers into respecting elders and loving children.

But now that he had an adopted grandson and people to care for him in old age, he had no interest in the courtyard’s ssy affairs.

Even though the incident occurred right in the central courtyard, Yi Zhonghai and his spouse didn’t think about going out.

When Yi Zhonghai first heard Xu Damao blurt out his inability to reproduce, he was montarily stunned, but then he couldn’t help but laugh joyously.

With people like Sha Zhu and Xu Damao in the mix, he looked forward to seeing who would dare call him the last of his line, especially Xu Damao.

Yi Zhonghai’s eyes twinkled; this young fellow really hadn’t held back, mocking him countless tis behind his back.

No matter, this guy has fallen to the sa fate; serves him right.

First Elder was also happy to hear the news of Xu Damao’s affliction, “Aren’t you going out?”

“Why should I go out?” Yi Zhonghai didn’t want to face others pointing fingers, “From now on, we won’t involve ourselves in courtyard affairs and just live our lives well.”

First Elder acknowledged, and though they did not go out, being situated in the central courtyard, they could still hear the outside commotion and knew what was happening.

“Yi Zhonghai, co out here.” Xu Damao grew more heartbroken the more he thought and, looking around, noticed soone missing.

Would this have happened if that old man hadn’t protected Sha Zhu so much?

Maybe by now he would have beco a father. “Yi Zhonghai, co out here.”

Xu Damao didn’t care about anything else; they must show an attitude to resolve this issue.

Otherwise, he absolutely wouldn’t let them off easily, wanting Yi Zhonghai and Sha Zhu to realize that he too could be temperantal.

“Yi Zhonghai, don’t think by hiding inside you can avoid this matter.”

“You can’t have children, so you make it that I can’t have children.”

“You really are a wicked old man, how can such a malicious person exist in this world?”

The rest of the courtyard heard Xu Damao’s words, truly stunned, not understanding why he would say such things.

Those who knew the truth didn’t cover for Yi Zhonghai and Sha Zhu but instead revealed so past incidents that had to be ntioned.

Everyone was dumbfounded, “We truly didn’t see that coming.”

“How could such a person have served as First Elder for so long?”

While so felt their courtyard’s First Elder hadn’t managed well and had various complaints, now knowing Yi Zhonghai’s actions, they felt their own First Elder was quite good.

Although there were tis of favoritism, it wasn’t to such an extent.

Yi Zhonghai hadn’t expected that the situation would eventually involve him; he sighed softly, “I’ll go out.”

If he didn’t, his reputation would be thoroughly ruined. Although his reputation wasn’t great now, it was still better than being blad for such cris.

First Elder knew it had co to this point and if they didn’t go out, Xu Damao wouldn’t let them off and would continue shouting outside, causing an even bigger scene.

Seeing Yi Zhonghai erge, Xu Damao sneered, “Oh, Yi Zhonghai, you’ve co out. I thought you wouldn’t.”

“Tell then, how do you intend to resolve this?”

“Don’t say it has nothing to do with you. When Sha Zhu hit as a child, he was always targeting that side.”

“You always let Sha Zhu off and never taught him a lesson.”

“You did it intentionally.” Xu Damao said fiercely, “You deliberately made yourself childless and wanted the sa for ; that’s too much.”

Xu Damao glared fiercely at Yi Zhonghai, blaming this old man for always being biased; otherwise, how could he have ended up this way?

Yi Zhonghai faced Xu Damao’s glare and stepped back three paces, realizing this ti Xu Damao was genuinely cornered.

“Damao, how can you say that, I had no idea it would turn out like this,” Yi Zhonghai sighed softly.

“If I had known earlier, I really wouldn’t have let Sha Zhu be,” Yi Zhonghai turning to the unapologetic Sha Zhu, “Sha Zhu, apologize.”

How could He Yuzhu admit any wrongdoing, “Does his inability to have children have anything to do with ?”

“Just because he says it’s my fault, I have to apologize?” He Yuzhu stuck to his refusal to admit wrong, “His inability to have children serves him right.”

“It’s because he always talked recklessly, so that’s why he can’t have children,” Sha Zhu vehently declared, blaming Xu Damao’s usual lack of restraint in speech for his situation.

Everyone looked at the defiant Sha Zhu, dumbfounded.

Soone couldn’t help but say, “Sha Zhu, don’t talk about Damao any more. You’re also a eunuch, but at least he can still get married, unlike you…”

The crowd laughed, “Exactly, Xu Damao can’t have children, but that doesn’t stop him from getting married.”

“Right, do you think Xu Damao knew this beforehand, which is why he was willing to marry Qin Huairu, gaining a wife and children all at once?”

An idea suddenly struck soone, and everyone’s faces lit up, “Right, why else would he be willing to marry Qin Huairu.”
