Chapter 885: Chapter 886 Toxic Fatherly Love 18
Li Cuifen really disliked Wu Hao and his whole family, hoping their lives would beco more and more miserable.
In front of Zhang Yu’s rapidly approaching college entrance exams, these things truly didn’t matter.
“The college entrance exam is what’s most important.”
“Getting into university, so you can find a good job later on.” Li Cuifen still rembered one of the many reasons Wu Hao looked down on Zhang Lina was because she wasn’t a university graduate.
Finding a good job, huh? Zhang Yu didn’t know how to respond. Should she say, perhaps after four years of university, the salary might not even be as high as inco from renting out property?
This, however, was sothing she absolutely couldn’t say, considering enrolling her in university was the goal fought for by three generations of Zhang Family won.
“Grandma, don’t worry, I will definitely get into university.” As for what kind of job she would get after graduation, the original owner had no specific requests.
Zhang Yu automatically made up her mind, since she had to take care of the sick Li Cuifen, she certainly couldn’t take a job that was too demanding. Even if it paid well, it wasn’t as important as taking care of Grandma.
“Good, once you get into university, I’ll take you abroad for a vacation.” The old lady knew that nowadays, after the college entrance exam, parents would take their children traveling.
If other children had it, her own children must have it too.
“Alright.” Zhang Yu agreed without hesitation, “By then, I’ll buy a digital cara, and we’ll take photos together.”
“Take so really pretty photos of Grandma.” The prices for digital caras, being recently released, were still quite high.
Regardless of the cost, Zhang Yu wanted to capture beautiful monts with a cara, “When I have holidays in the future, I’ll take you out for trips.”
“That will cost quite a bit of money.” Li Cuifen did want to go out and have fun with Zhang Yu, to spend more ti with her grandchild in her remaining years.
She wanted to broaden her horizons by traveling more. Even after she passed, she wouldn’t worry about Wu Hao causing trouble, confident that her child could handle him.
“Grandma, you don’t know, traveling is not only about spending money, it’s also about making money.”
Zhang Yu was aware of Li Cuifen’s mindset, wanting to save up more money to leave for her in her golden years.
The only way to reassure the old lady, to follow her travelling without worry, was to let her know that it was possible to make money while traveling.
Make money while traveling? Li Cuifen imdiately beca cheerful, “You little girl, although I, your grandma, am old and don’t interact much with the outside world, I know that traveling requires spending money; how can you make money?”
If it were that easy to make money, there would be a lot more people traveling.
“By submitting articles.” Zhang Yu’s reply was crisp, “Many travel magazines and so general publications have such content.”
“Grandma, your granddaughter’s essays are really well written. By then, I’ll further improve my photography skills.”
“We can definitely make money with this.” Zhang Yu was absolutely confident in herself.
“Next year’s college exams, I’ll score well, then we’ll travel abroad, and the travelogues I write will make us money, which we can use to go on trips during the holidays.”
Zhang Yu made a bet with Li Cuifen, who looked at Zhang Yu, very confident, and said, “Okay.”
“But you have to score well on your exams.”
“No problem, by then we won’t join a tour group, I’ll take you on a free-and-easy trip.” Zhang Yu certainly didn’t want to travel with a tour group.
It’s not so much about saving money but rather that it’s not fun to travel without freedom, having to follow a big group around.
Zhang Yu felt confident that she could take good care of both of them and saw no need to travel with a group, but when Li Cuifen heard this, the idea of not following a tour group imdiately threw her into panic.
“How can we not join a group? We wouldn’t know where to go, and there’s the language barrier.” The elderly woman didn’t even dare think about what they would do if they encountered language problems abroad.
Seeing Li Cuifen’s insistence on joining a group tour, Zhang Yu eventually had no choice but to admit defeat with a sense of helplessness.
She had truly forgotten that independent travel wasn’t popular yet. Not to ntion international travel, even dostic tourism was usually done with tour groups.
Let it be for the first ti, if it must be a group tour, then group tour it shall be. Eventually, she would let Li Cuifen see that she was capable of communicating with foreigners in English.
As long as she could prove herself, Zhang Yu knew that the possibility of getting her way in the future would be much higher.
“Tomorrow is the preliminary exam, so you should get to bed early today.” Li Cuifen worried that Zhang Yu, busy with revision, might end up resting late. Without enough sleep, how could she possibly perform well?
“Grandma, don’t worry, I definitely won’t go to bed late tonight.” This was the beginning of her progress in improving her grades, and she certainly couldn’t afford to be careless.
Liu Hui left today in a huff, and Zhang Yu knew that he actually hadn’t given up at all. He was waiting for the preliminary exam results to co out, expecting her to co begging to him.
He also felt confident that she couldn’t let go; that was just how sure Liu Hui was of himself. He always felt his height was his only real drawback, being only just over 170 cm tall – a major sore point for him.
No matter how much Zhang Yu bought him calcium supplents and nourishing foods, his height had stopped growing after reaching 174 cm.
Without her being the generous fool constantly feeding him and buying calcium supplents, she was actually curious and looking forward to whether Liu Hui could ever surpass 175 cm on his own efforts.
And without her support, could that person still have a comfortable university life, joining various societies, eting a lot of people, and expanding his network?
Since the conditions weren’t great, the only option was to work hard at university with part-ti jobs to earn living expenses and tuition fees.
Zhang Yu returned to her room and once again went over her actions today, especially her encounter with Liu Hui.
Liu Hui was in a very bad mood today, coming ho fuming and sulking.
When he ca out and saw the food on the dining table, he was very unhappy. “Mom, what’s this all about? Why are we just having this for dinner?”
Mother Liu didn’t indulge him, “If you think the dinner’s not good, why didn’t I see you adding any dishes?”
Mother Liu originally thought Liu Hui would bring so tasty food ho, but to her surprise, he brought nothing, which naturally upset her.
“Where do I have the money?” Liu Hui got angry at her words. “You’re not broke, why are you always thinking about getting money from ?”
“Right, I haven’t bought the workbook yet.” He had planned to use the excuse of taking Zhang Yu to buy study materials to improve her grades as a reason to go to the bookstore, so she would pay for the books they both chose.
The idea was good, and he believed the plan was flawless, but he didn’t expect Zhang Yu to suddenly go crazy today.
Now look where he was, without any study materials for revision.
“Weren’t you planning on making that girl pay?” Mother Liu was disconcerted by the prospect of having to buy the study materials themselves and looked visibly upset.
“Wasn’t that wretched girl supposed to pay? Why do we still have to fork out money?” Mother Liu looked suspiciously at Liu Hui, “Did you hide the money sowhere?”
Liu Hui was used to Mother Liu’s attitude. “I asked Aunt Feng already. She said Zhang Yu’s grandma has cancer and needs a lot of money for treatnt.”
“They’ve even rented out their house for it.”
“They’re renting sowhere else to live now.”
