The day of the college entrance exam arrived quickly, and with Aunt Huang’s help, Li Cuifen went straight to the exam school to scope out the venue.

“Then where will you eat lunch?” The old lady was concerned about that.

“The Wang Family’s route to the venue is convenient, but coming to our house would be out of the way.”
She had a great relationship with Wang Lei, and also with Wang Lei’s parents. Every ti her parents went on business trips, they would bring gifts for them.
Sotis when Wang Lei’s parents were both out on trips, Wang Lei would stay at Zhang Yu’s place. The relationship between the two families was truly exceptional.
“It’s fine, let’s not complicate things. We’ll just take a cab,” Li Cuifen knew the college entrance exam wasn’t sothing to treat lightly.
“Are you absolutely sure you don’t want to take you to the venue?” The old lady still couldn’t feel at ease, wanting to accompany Zhang Yu to the exam site but getting rejected again.

No need to elaborate; she was familiar with details like the signature dishes at nearby restaurants, among other things.

After the college entrance exams ended, Zhang Yu planned to take Li Cuifen traveling, eating and drinking their way through various destinations. Surely she could convince her eventually.
The three-day exam concluded smoothly, and after the final test, Wang Lei’s parents showed up at the exam site along with Li Cuifen.
The two families had already agreed to gather for a celebratory dinner once the exams were over.
Zhang Yu could tell that Wang Lei’s parents really wanted to know how their child had perford but didn’t dare ask outright.
“I think I did pretty well. Nothing too challenging. I should be able to get into F University.”
Wang Lei was very composed. She was calm, but her parents certainly weren’t. “F University?”
They knew Wang Lei had always dreamt of getting into F University, which was also the alma mater of both parents. Yet they were aware of her usual grades and never dared harbor such expectations, fearing it would place undue pressure on their child.
Even in her senior year, while her grades kept steadily improving, they still didn’t dare dream of it.

Wang Lei was stunned. “Dad, Mom, how did you co up with that idea?”
“I understand Zhang Yu. She doesn’t harbor much expectation when it cos to her parents’ affection.”
“No expectation?” Father Wang was taken aback. In his mind, no matter who or at what point in life, there’s always so yearning for parental love. How could Zhang Yu feel this way?
Wang Lei nodded and brought up Wu Hao’s antics from recent days. “With a father like that, how could Zhang Yu have expectations?”
“As for maternal love, Zhang Yu has ntioned that she rembers her mom’s kindness and her grandma’s as well.”
“Even though she grew up in an environnt without her dad, she’s happy. Her late mother and grandmother both treated her very well.”
“Her childhood was joyous, and she doesn’t want any so-called elders taking a dominant role above her anymore.” Wang Lei found Zhang Yu’s perspective entirely understandable.
Wang Lei’s parents, hearing this, abandoned their initial idea, exchanging glances as they wondered what to do next.
Wang Lei noticed her parents exchanging looks. “Dad, Mom, you’re wanting to thank Zhang Yu, aren’t you?”
“Shouldn’t we thank her?” Mother Wang replied with exaggerated exasperation.
“No need, really no need,” Wang Lei assured them. “The bond between Zhang Yu and doesn’t require sothing like gifts to manifest.”
“She and I will be the best of friends.”
“Though we’re not blood relatives, our connection is even better than that of relatives who share DNA.”
“Oh, Mom, I’m preparing for the trip tomorrow.” Tomorrow would mark their travel day, and just thinking about it made her excited.
“This vacation, I plan to visit tons of places,” Wang Lei declared, determined to unwind fully after months of hard work.
“Take the card; it’s your turn to spend, so don’t be stingy.” Father Wang knew his daughter wasn’t one to scrimp, but he reminded her nonetheless.
