Chapter 936: Chapter 937 Toxic Fatherly Love 69
“Why would Wu Jian accept it? Of course, he wouldn’t. ‘I know so things they’ve done are really excessive.’
‘But they’re them, and I’m .’ Wu Jian was agitated. Working in a restaurant, his inco wasn’t great, and tips were only given occasionally.
But such occurrences were rare; he wanted to make big money.
‘You know gratitude?’ Zhang Yule laughed. ‘Wu Hao might have wronged us mother and daughter, but to you three, your mom and you two brothers, he was nothing but good.’
‘He always considered you, worried that after graduating from university, you’d have no one to guide you in your career. When he heard I got into university, he wanted to follow the path he’d laid out.’
‘All of it was to pave the way for you. Wu Hao, as your father, always planned ticulously for you.’
‘As for giving you less money, let ask, as soone about to enter senior year, why do you even need money while dating?’
‘Is it for courting girls?’
‘He hoped for your success. But instead, you spend ti outside working to earn money. What for? To have dates with girls.’
‘To buy gifts for won. Have you even thought about your upcoming university entrance exams?’
‘Not only have you failed to recognize your mistakes, but you’re also criticizing Wu Hao for being stingy, for mistreating you.’
Zhang Yu shook her head repeatedly. ‘With an attitude like this towards the father who raised you, how could you possibly be good to ?’
‘Wu Jian, no one’s a fool.’ Zhang Yule thought to herself that Wu Hao’s future couldn’t be worse.
As the supposed hope of the family, he was already showing all the traits of an ungrateful ingrate.
After saying her piece, Zhang Yule noticed Wu Jian’s dissatisfied gaze. It was clear the kid was harboring major resentnt in his heart.
Once she got into her car, Zhang Yule kept silent. Her colleague initially wanted to say sothing, but seeing that Zhang Yule wasn’t in the mood to talk, they remained quiet as well.
Watching the car drive away, Wu Jian was really furious. But what could he do, no matter how angry he was? He could only return ho feeling dejected.
When he got back to the restaurant, he was unsurprisingly scolded by the manager.
Thankfully, Wu Jian had good looks and a sweet tongue. After being warned that this should not happen again, the manager let him return to work.
Originally, after his shift, Wu Jian had planned to go straight to see his girlfriend. But rembering the task at Zhang Yu’s place, he decided not to.
When Wu Hao arrived ho from work, he found only Wu Min there. This didn’t surprise him at all. Ever since the holidays started, Wu Jian had been running out frequently.
In the past, Wu Hao would inquire about where he was going. But ever since learning that he hadn’t broken up with that girl, Wu Hao simply assud it was either dating or working to make money.
Don’t ask him how he knew; City S isn’t that big, and you always bump into soone familiar.
What Wu Hao was thinking about now was the man Zhang Yule was with. What was the guy’s family background?
From what Feng Min said, it sounded like the family was quite well-off. Otherwise, how could they afford two maids trailing behind, buying clothes without even looking at the price?
‘Must be rich,’ Wu Hao thought the sa.
But even if he knew Zhang Yule was with a wealthy man, he couldn’t do anything about it.
A couple of years ago, Zhang Yule had already moved out of the house, which had been rented out ever since.
When he asked the tenant for news about the landlord, the other party clearly didn’t want to discuss it.
Since they were unwilling to talk, Wu Hao couldn’t force them, leaving him stewing in his own frustration. What else could he do?
On his way ho, Wu Jian had been thinking for a long ti about how to speak to Wu Hao.
When he finally got back, Wu Min, just stepping out of the bathroom, was surprised to see him.
Under normal circumstances, when Wu Jian went out to work, he’d never return before midnight. Yet today, he was ho before 9 PM. It was truly unusual.
Wu Min’s first thought was whether soone had kicked Wu Jian out. It made sense; Wu Jian’s girlfriend was attractive, articulate, and good at dressing herself up.
Since she had plenty of free ti and was always out and about, she’d naturally t many people.
Wu Min had once seen her hugging intimately with another young man. She didn’t believe for a second that they were just close friends.
But she wouldn’t bother telling Wu Jian about this. Whether he’d believe her was one thing; she’d probably only receive a torrent of complaints in return.
Most importantly, the more love-struck Wu Jian was, the more displeased Wu Hao beca with him.
Seeing Wu Min, Wu Jian also looked unhappy. He was utterly fed up with this little sister of his.
Wu Min walked past him without even looking his way. In the past, she had viewed him as a rival. Now, she just felt it was a waste of ti to bother with such a good-for-nothing.
Wu Jian was infuriated by his sister’s attitude. Fine, just wait until he made money—then he’d see how Wu Min would grovel for him.
When the ti ca, he’d make sure she knew the consequences of crossing him.
‘Dad, did you know? Zhang Yule is very rich now.’ The first thing Wu Jian said to Wu Hao upon seeing him was this.
Wu Min, who had been wondering what kind of news could make Wu Jian’s voice change from excitent, was surprised to hear it was about Zhang Yule being rich.
To her, it was entirely normal for Zhang Yule to be wealthy.
Seeing Wu Jian’s excited expression, Wu Hao said dismissively, ‘She was already rich.’
‘You’re wrong, Dad. What you’re thinking of as ‘rich’ and what I’m talking about are completely different concepts,’ Wu Jian clarified, emphasizing the distinction.
‘How much money?’ Wu Hao didn’t think Wu Jian knew much. After all, that girl had always been guarded about her information, and learning anything about her wouldn’t be easy.
Just as Wu Jian was about to say sothing, he noticed Wu Min standing by the door and instantly clamd up. This was info he’d worked so hard to uncover; there was no way he was letting her hear it.
That girl was a master at playing the nice guy. If she found out what Zhang Yule was up to, she’d surely go running to her.
‘Dad, let’s talk in the other room.’ Wu Jian’s tone turned serious, determined to keep the information to himself.
Seeing how serious Wu Jian was, Wu Hao thought he might actually have sothing legitimate to share. So he prepared to head to his bedroom.
But Wu Jian hesitated, ‘No way, Dad. Soone might eavesdrop.’
Although he didn’t na nas, he glanced at Wu Min, which angered her into letting out a cold snort. ‘Do I look like that type of person to you?’
‘As if you haven’t done it before?’ Wu Jian shot back, then grabbed Wu Hao and walked out the door.
After finding a secluded spot, Wu Jian told Wu Hao about Zhang Yule’s current situation.
Wu Hao was stunned, staring blankly at Wu Jian. ‘Are you sure it’s that popular food blogger, Zhang Yule?’
Wu Jian had intended to explain the blogger’s online influence but was shocked that Wu Hao was already aware.
‘Dad, you know about her?’
‘I’m not so caveman,’ Wu Hao snapped. ‘So of the younger folks at work are avid fans.’
‘She’s traveled to plenty of places, not just City S.’
‘True. She’d gone on trips for a while. Back then, I thought she was taking the old lady out to see the world. But it turns out…’ Wu Hao was at a loss for words, unsure what to say next.
