Uncle Gu entered the room and suddenly noticed there was soone on the floor. Upon closer inspection, oh! Isn’t this Mr. Huang?

"Oh dear! What happened to Mr. Huang? Why is he lying on the ground? Hurry up and help him up! How did this happen?" Uncle Gu gasped at Mr. Huang’s miserable state.

Huang Ming’s finger was simply wrapped by Ming Mo, but now the cloth was soaked with blood, and Uncle Gu saw the missing section of the finger.

"What happened? This is a tragedy!" Uncle Gu was astonished, knowing how important fingers are to a scholar. Although it’s the right little finger and doesn’t affect writing, losing a finger ans he can never take the imperial exams. Isn’t that a lifeti exclusion from them?

"Uncle, please, let explain what happened today!" Gu Chengyu spoke up just as Uncle Gu was about to lift Huang Ming.

Uncle Gu looked bemused. He only knew Huang Ming got injured while being a guest at their house. When the parents co, won’t they tear the place apart? He might have been a scholar in over three months!

Gu Chengyu had to recount the day’s events, and the more he spoke, the angrier Mrs. Lv beca. Both of their kids were sched against by Uncle’s family, and they certainly had so good calculations.

The more Uncle Gu listened, the darker his expression beca. He couldn’t believe it was true. Could Gu Wanhua really be this bold?

He suddenly turned to look at Gu Wanhua standing to the side, "Hua? Tell this isn’t true!"

Gu Wanhua dared not et Uncle Gu’s gaze, aware of the expectations his grandfather had for him, the effort his grandfather had put into him growing up. He wanted to cry, he really lost his mind, how could he do such a thing? His knees buckled, and he fell to his knees before Uncle Gu.

Seeing Gu Wanhua’s stance made Uncle Gu anxious, since he raised Gu Wanhua and knew him well.

"What a sin! You beast! Is this sothing a human would do? I’ll beat you dead for this disgrace today! You must have let the books you’ve read go to the dogs!" Uncle Gu pointed at Gu Wanhua with deep sorrow and anger.

Feeling that just scolding wasn’t enough, he started looking for a stick throughout the room. Not finding one, he rushed to the door and pulled out the door bolt, and started hitting Gu Wanhua with force.

"Ah!" Gu Wanhua didn’t dare dodge, caught off guard, he got hit hard twice.

The scene played out quickly before anyone could react. Gu Chengyu did respond but didn’t want to intervene, believing Gu Wanhua was overly protected by Uncle Gu, not understanding even at this age and certainly needing a lesson.

Uncle Gu hit Gu Wanhua fiercely, though initially it was more showmanship, appearing harsh but not heavy, knowing the incident needed addressing for his brother and Gu Chengyu. Besides, Gu Wanhua needed this lesson.

But as he continued to hit, sorrow overwheld him. He was disappointed by Gu Wanhua’s failures. He had watched him grow, knowing his nature isn’t bad, though timid. He recalled teaching Hua how to hold a pen, guiding him to study and write, watching him grow up.

Even now, with Hua marrying, he continued overseeing him, not expecting Hua to commit such an act. Could it be him teaching incorrectly? It must be his fault!

"Brother! Stop! Don’t hit him anymore, or he won’t take it!" Mr. Gu noticed how Uncle Gu continued and got anxious, realizing how serious it could be. As much as he disliked Gu Wanhua, he was Uncle’s lifeline. Initially thinking Uncle Gu would hit twice, he didn’t foresee the genuine aggression!

With arms swinging vigorously, Uncle Gu realized too late that Gu Wanhua had already fainted from the beating!

Gu Chengyu, seeing Uncle Gu in tears, couldn’t help feeling moved. He sighed, fearing this would not be pursued further.

Uncle Gu ca to his senses, terrified by the sight of Hua fainting, dropping the door bolt imdiately, "Hua? Hua? You can’t be hard by this."

Gu Chengyu quickly checked Hua’s pulse, noticing it was much weaker, and imdiately instructed Ming Mo to carry Hua to the bed while fetching Doctor Li. From his sleeve, he produced a Jade Bottle containing pills known as Rejuvenation Pills, miraculously effective in such situations.

Feeling remorseful, Uncle Gu, realizing he hit too hard due to his absence of mind, crouched worriedly beside Hua on the bed. Observing Gu Chengyu feed Hua a pill, he asked hurriedly, "Xiao Bao! What did you feed Hua? Don’t give him random things!"

"Uncle! This dicine cost a lot of Silver to buy. It’s amazingly effective in life-threatening situations." Though Gu Chengyu hadn’t tried before practicing, the recipe space held it, requiring nurous precious herbs, and even minor differences in year could drastically reduce efficacy.

"Ah? Does it work?" Uncle Gu trusted Gu Chengyu’s words but hoped desperately that Hua was alright. How else could he face Hua’s parents? Besides, Hua was almost raised by him more affectionately than his biological son who wasn’t around!

"Brother! He just took it, it can’t work instantly. Wait for Doctor Li to examine him!"

Mr. Gu was worried too, praying Hua was alright. If not, Wan’er would be dragged into it, and with Hua’s incident happening here, it would complicate greatly. Furthermore, Hua was still his great-nephew, not having the heart to let him die!

Mrs. Lv looked alard, sharing the thoughts of Mr. Gu.

"Brother! You went way too harsh! Are you really not afraid of permanently hurting Hua?" Mrs. Lv eyed, thinking any discipline should be done later, fearing bla upon them with Hua injured at their place.

Sitting shocked, Huang Ming stared at Uncle Gu’s stance. Was this his family? Using such a hefty door bolt? Surely a kill was inevitable? He rely lost a finger, seeming dire, but Hua lay motionless, possibly dead?

"Sir! Doctor Li has arrived!" Ming Mo was carrying Doctor Li on his back, though young, he had significant strength. With concern for Hua dying at the master’s house, he hurried after noticing the slow pace.

"Quick! Doctor Li, you must save my Hua!" Uncle Gu, seeing Doctor Li, wasted no ti in dragging him to the bedside.
