Ningyan woke the next morning in the bathing chamber, subrged in a warm tub as ishan carefully washed him. His body ached all over. A deep, lingering soreness but it was a good ache.

His gaze drifted to ishan.

Strands of his dark hair clung damply to his face and neck, sleeves slightly soaked as he focused entirely on the task, movents gentle.

Ningyan felt his body clench. He felt... empty. Empty enough that it made his chest tighten, made him want to pull ishan closer, to drag him back into the water and start all over again even if they had spent the entire night tangled together, only falling asleep when exhaustion finally claid them.

Now, he was being cleaned. His violet eyes slowly cleared, lifting to et ishan’s.

ishan blinked once, then a small, soft smile curved his lips. "You’re awake."

"And hungry," Ningyan mumbled imdiately, his voice still thick with sleep.

A yawn overtook him, wide and unrestrained, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes as he stretched slightly in the water.

ishan’s smile deepened. "I’m sure breakfast is already being prepared."

Ningyan nodded lazily, not resisting when ishan lifted him from the tub.

Water dripped from his body as ishan wrapped him in a cloth, drying him carefully, his touch still as attentive. Before carrying him back into the chamber.

The mont they stepped inside, they paused.

A staff mber stood near the doorway, clearly on her way out, frozen in place with wide eyes.

ishan’s expression returned to its usual impassive calm, Ningyan still wrapped and cradled in his arms.

Ningyan recognized her imdiately. It was the sa one who had told him about Madam Qin’s death.

"I—I’m so sorry," she stamred quickly, bowing her head. "I entered the wrong chamber. I was just leaving."

She looked nervous and flustered.

Ningyan, however, smiled.

"It’s fine," he said lightly. "I’m glad you’re here."

His tone shifted, just slightly playful. "Is breakfast ready? My husband and I are starving."

The staff blinked then smiled. "Yes, Jun Haoxuan requested a large breakfast to be prepared."

"Oh." Ningyan swallowed.

This was going to be awkward

"We can have our al alone if you’re not comfortable," ishan said, drawing Ningyan’s gaze back to him.

"I’ll be fine. It’s just..." Ningyan trailed off, his face flushing faintly.

ishan’s lips curved, clearly finding him adorable.

Ningyan quickly turned back to the staff. "You can go now. What’s your na?"

"Ting," she answered at once.

Ningyan nodded, watching her hurry out his gaze lingering on the doorway even after she disappeared.

"I’m sure she knows this is our chamber," he muttered. "Why pretend it was an accident?"

ishan said nothing. He simply carried Ningyan to the bed and set him down gently, brushing damp strands of hair away from his face.

"Are you alright, Yan’er?"

Ningyan bead up at him and raised his hands to his cheeks, pressing them in until his lips ford a soft pout. "I want you inside again."

ishan’s eyes widened, a flush rising instantly to his ears.

Ningyan’s lips curled into a dangerous, teasing smile. Like a demon who knew exactly what he was doing.

He grabbed ishan by the collar and pulled him down, leaning back against the bed and dragging him along until ishan hovered over him, hands braced on either side.

Their noses brushed.

Ningyan’s voice dropped to a whisper. "Please... Shan’er."

And at that exact mont, the door slid open.

Jun Haoxuan stepped inside and paused completely.

For a brief second, his expression was blank, almost distant until his gaze landed on them. On ishan hovering over Ningyan. On Ningyan’s fingers curled into ishan’s robe. On the closeness. The intimacy.

Sothing in his expression shattered. He turned sharply, already moving to leave, a rare flicker of fluster crossing his usually composed face but ishan had already noticed.

He turned his head.

Ningyan followed a second later, letting out an annoyed groan at the interruption only to freeze when he recognized him.

Jun Haoxuan stopped, realizing he had already been seen. He straightened slowly, composure snapping back into place, every movent controlled, precise. The very image of a dignified, disciplined divine beast prince.

"I..." he began then cleared his throat. "I apologize for the interruption. I seem to have lost my way. I am not yet familiar with this place."

Ningyan blinked at him as a long, awkward silence fell. Thick enough to choke on.

The three of them stood there. No one was moving.

Jun Haoxuan blinked once. Then again. And without another word, he turned and walked out.

Ningyan deflated instantly.

He dragged a hand down his face, fingers pushing through his already ssy hair.

"...I have two husbands now," he muttered. "...What does that make Wuhen?"

He turned to ishan. "Is he my concubine?"

ishan actually paused to consider it. "...I think so."

That did it.

Ningyan pressed his lips together, failed, and laughter slipped out anyway.

Everything about this was ridiculous, chaotic, completely out of control. And yet, he grabbed ishan’s face and pulled him into a deep, hungry kiss.

The dining chamber was filled with the rich scent of food as servants moved in and out, placing dishes across the long table.

Rong Yue sat at one end, elegant as ever, a cup of fresh wine already in hand.

Across from him was Jun Haoxuan. His gaze rested on the spread before him for a mont before shifting to Rong Yue.

"I do not understand why you wanted the dragon crystal," he said.

Rong Yue’s ears twitched. His blue feline eyes flickered, briefly glowing before he set his cup down with quiet care. "Would you feel better if I said I no longer want it?"

Haoxuan didn’t react. "Then why are you still here?"

Rong Yue shrugged. "Because Wuhen is here. And the phoenix is here."

Haoxuan’s golden reptilian eyes narrowed before he looked away. He poured himself a cup of wine, lifting it, just as the doors slid open.

Yan Wuhen walked in, a deep frown carving his handso face. "That damned snake keeps making Ningyan make those beautiful sounds."

Jun Haoxuan choked. Hard. Wine caught in his throat as he coughed sharply, lowering the cup.

Rong Yue raised a brow, his lips curving faintly.

Wuhen didn’t care. Not even a little. His presence rolled through the room heavy and oppressive.

The attendants stiffened, faces tightening before quickly excusing themselves and slipping out.

Wuhen dropped into a seat beside Rong Yue.

Rong Yue calmly poured him wine.

Wuhen downed it in one go.

Another cup was poured. Gone just as quickly. And still he looked furious.

"Did you hear him last night?" he asked, turning his gaze to Haoxuan.

Haoxuan lifted his cup again, pressing it lightly to his lip, his eyes flickering for just a mont. "I am certain we all did."

Wuhen’s frown deepened. "I’m going to kill him."

Rong Yue’s lips twitched. "Inhale, Hen-er."

Haoxuan said nothing. He simply took a slow sip of his wine.

...it was going to be a long day.
