"Kairon, as I said, I am not going anywhere. Do you think the opening of a demon gate is a joke?"

Leon rolled his eyes and refused to leave the camp.

No matter what reward he said he would give him, there was no way he was going to enter the WhiteLeaf Forest right now.

He didn’t have a death wish.

"You..."

But Kairon seed anxious as he directly pulled his background to entice him further.

"Leon, if you do this for , I’ll introduce you to soone from the Paragon Guild. What do you think?"

And how could he not be anxious when he heard incredible news just now?

’That bastard Soren... how dare he kidnap Sylvia into the forest at this ti?’

Kairon gritted his teeth in anger, rembering the news he heard.

Apparently, after the demon gate appeared, he was worried about Sylvia, who disappeared after being summoned by Professor Lysandra.

Anxious about her safety, he quickly searched for her in the entire camp and finally got news from a spectator who saw Soren taking both girls in his arms before.

Only... the idea that his crush was in soone’s arms and was taken away was just too much for him.

And from how they seed to be arguing, it was clear that Aria had shown the recorder he gave to her, making him happy.

He just never thought that the guy would dare to kidnap them both in broad daylight directly.

"Paragon Guild?"

Leon was taken aback by Kairon’s words and paused briefly. After all, Paragon Guild was the only six-star guild of their country, Arden.

Of course, he was naturally tempted.

Even if he couldn’t join, just getting a connection was a huge benefit. That’s also the reason why he had been tolerating Kairon all this ti anyway.

After all, his brother Ethan was a Raid Captain in one of the teams of that guild.

’Just how much of a simp is he to promise such a reward?’

Leon thought, looking down on Kairon.

He bet that Soren didn’t kidnap those girls as he believed.

After all, he saw with his own eyes how intimate Soren was with all three girls before.

Funnily enough, Kairon failed to realise this and instead asked Aria to help him destroy the relationship between Sylvia and Soren.

"So? What do you think?"

Leon saw Kairon’s anxious gaze, thought for a while, and finally gritted his teeth.

"I only have to escort you to her and back, right? Don’t expect to do anything more. And if there is any danger that I cannot handle, I will just leave."

Demon Gate or whatever, the chance to get close to the Paragon guild wouldn’t co so easily.

He didn’t have a good background like Kairon, nor a good qualification to get noticed.

So, for him, even this much was an opportunity that he wished to grab despite the danger.

As an assassin, escorting wasn’t his preference, but circumstances dictated the job, didn’t they?

"Yeah, that’s it. Don’t worry, if things get dangerous and you can’t handle it, I won’t hold it against you if you run."

Kairon readily nodded.

The only reason he went to Leon was that he needed his speed to reach the location as quickly as possible.

He was extrely anxious about what Soren might have done to Sylvia after kidnapping her.

Or maybe... he had simply abandoned her in the forest and run when the Demon Gate opened.

No matter what, he had to find her quickly.

’Maybe she’ll finally see in a new light when I rescue her?’

Kairon thought, his eyes lighting up as a sudden sense of hope rose within him. Maybe the situation wasn’t so hopeless after all.

After seeing that recording of Soren kissing another girl, Sylvia was probably heartbroken right now. And stranded alone in the forest, she would be as good as helpless.

If he showed up for her at a ti like this...

"Leon, let’s leave. Quickly."

Kairon ordered, pulling out a small white compass from his inventory. The needle pointed steadily toward a direction deep within the Whiteleaf Forest.

"Just head that way. They should be in that direction."

Fortunately, when he had given that recorder to Aria earlier, he had slipped a small tracker inside it. It was finally proving useful.

"Oh? Alright then. Grab my shoulder, we’re leaving."

Leon gave the compass a strange look, but chose to ignore it as he prepared to move.

***

*Boom!*

*Sizzzz....!*

Sowhere deep within the Whiteleaf Forest, a violent explosion suddenly tore through the silence, followed by a plu of green smoke rising into the sky.

Simultaneously, a strange corrosive force spread out the instant it detonated, swallowing everything around it.

Strangely, though, even with such an explosion, trees didn’t break or burn, but they simply dissolved. Bark, leaves, and branches lted away as if they had never existed, collapsing into a bubbling, foul-slling sludge.

Heck, even the ground followed soon after, soil and roots eaten away in seconds as the forest floor caved inward, leaving behind a massive crater that still hissed and stead at the edges.

"Interesting! Is this Nine-Headed Hydra’s corrosive venom?"

Surprisingly, even after all this, sothing still remained in the middle of it all.

A skeleton, half-lted and twisted in place, parts of it completely gone, while the rest was warped and fused into a grotesque shape.

The skull was cracked on one side, hollow sockets staring blankly into everything around it, showing a strange sense of interest.

It was as if it was amazed by the destruction around it.

"Yeah, looks cool, right? I made it specifically to deal with the undead. Although... it doesn’t seem that useful for you."

A soft voice suddenly ca from above, from the sky, where a beautiful figure could be seen floating.

Around her were several colourful potions suspended in the air, all stored within a round flask, each one capable of recreating the sa scene from before effortlessly.

"Tch... and I thought I’d get you this ti. Hey, is that skeleton even human?"

Lysandra clicked her tongue in annoyance as her curious gaze landed on the fractured bones, filled with intense curiosity.

It was as if she couldn’t wait to experint on it and uncover all the mysteries hidden within.

There was not a trace of fear in her eyes. So much so that even Knight seed surprised.

"You’re a very weird healer, huh. This is the first ti I’ve been stumped by a non-combat class."

Knight couldn’t help but speak, his voice slightly sour.

When he saw how that Space Mage had left a healer alone to fight his companion, he had thought she was abandoned.

But now that he looked at the situation, it seed he was wrong.

Even now, he didn’t dare move, afraid she might throw another alchemy bomb at him.

This woman fought in such a strange way that he couldn’t even get close. And since she was a healer class, many of his debuff skills wouldn’t work on her at all.

Well, if he went all out, he would still co out on top. But that wasn’t his intention today after all.

"Forget it... seems like it’s my loss today. Let it be a lesson, I guess."

In the end, Knight shrugged before slowly walking out of the crater, completely ignoring Lysandra in the sky.

Then he retrieved his rusty sword from the ground, wiping off the dust. Surprisingly, even when his body had lted earlier, the unremarkable sword remained completely intact.

"Professor Lysandra, right? Nice to et you. I am Knight, an elder of the Crucible."

He finally looked up, introducing himself.

"I have a ssage for your Principal, Logan. Tell him we already know the location of the Inheritance Dungeon and wish to take part in its exploration. If he isn’t stupid, he shouldn’t try to hoard it all."

It was a warning.

"That’s all. I think the play here is over. Your friend seems to have chased my companion away already."

Knight said while gazing into the distance in a certain direction.

"Although the Demon Gate is only partially opened, my job here is done. Let’s et again if fate allows."

After saying that, he suddenly turned around and transford into black smoke.

"Wait!"

Then, before Lysandra could even react, his figure completely disappeared, as if he had never been there at all.

"Tch... and I thought he was strong. In the end, he just ran away? What kind of elder is that? So weak."

Lysandra was pissed when she confird that even the skeleton was gone.

She still had so many of her bombs left to test. After so long, this was the first ti she had found soone that durable.

But he had to disappear right away.

’Such bad luck!’
