I stare at Deniz in disbelief.

What is he doing here?

His dark, fathomless eyes lock onto mine. We stand frozen under the stark streetlight.

The world fades—the shops, the cold, the mory of Moon—until it’s just the two of us. He’s still holding my wrist, his skin a brand of warmth against the biting chill.

The air turns so cold my body shivers, just as the first snowflake drifts down.

It lands on Deniz’s black hair. Another on his shoulder.

I startle, blinking quickly, and look up.

Deniz looks up, too.

The snow falls. Soft. Silent. A gentle, swirling curtain descending between us.

It’s my first ti seeing the first snow fall. In my real life, I always tried to stay awake to see how it started, but I always ended up sleeping, waking to a world already covered in white.

I’d missed the quiet beginning, the mont the sky decides to let go.

But this ti... I’m seeing it. How it begins. A quiet miracle.

We stand in a suspended silence. No questions. No answers. Just two people watching the world turn quiet and new.

I look at Deniz. It’s been days since I saw him. The space between us feels both vast and intimate.

"Deniz..."

His gaze shifts from the dark sky back to . The snowflakes catch in his lashes.

Our eyes et again, and words feel too clumsy for this stillness.

Before I can say more, a bright voice chirps up.

"Big brother!"

Deniz looks down. A little girl, no older than seven, is standing there holding a small bucket brimming with flowers. She beams up at him.

"Big brother, can you buy so flowers for your beautiful Oga, please?"

Deniz stares, utterly confused. Silent.

Then his eyes flick to , a silent question.

The little girl blinks, her innocence disarming.

"Please? Buy a flower?"

I kneel down in front of her, the cold pavent seeping through my pants. I smile softly.

"Little girl, what’s your na?"

She grins, a gap where a tooth should be. "Mimi."

A genuine smile touches my lips. What a cute na.

I reach into my coat, pull out so cash, and hold it out.

"Here. Give one rose, please."

Her smile could outshine the streetlamp. She carefully picks out a perfect red rose from her bucket and hands it to .

She looks at the cash in my other hand, her small brow furrowing.

"Big brother... it’s too much."

I smile, reaching out to gently squeeze her cold-pinked cheek.

"Take it."

"Thank you!" she chirps.

I pat her head. "And, little Mimi... I’m an Alpha. Not an Oga."

Her eyes go wide as saucers.

"Oops! Sorry!"

I laugh softly. "It’s okay. Now, where’s your mom?"

She points a mittened hand toward a tiny, warmly lit shop with a painted sign that reads Floral Cafe.

"That’s my parents’ flower cafe! I’m helping!"

"Mimi, it’s too cold and late for you to be out alone," I say gently.

"You should go back inside."

She nods, adorable and earnest, before scampering back toward the light.

I stand up, the rose cool and velvety in my hand. I look at Deniz, who is still standing there, a silent, watchful statue.

Should I give him the flower? What if he rejects it?

Deniz’s eyes drop to the rose in my hand.

My grip tightens on the stem. I hesitate, my hand starting to lift, to offer—then I quickly pull it back, tucking it close to my chest.

Before I can say anything, another voice breaks the mont.

A woman hurries toward us, her breath fogging the air. "Young man! Thank goodness I found you!"

She stops before us, holding out the cash I’d just given.

"Please, take it back. I’m sorry if my daughter was a bother. She’s a little naughty."

I smile, shaking my head. "Madam, please, keep it. Mimi is a delight."

The woman’s worried expression softens. "You already know her na?"

She looks between and Deniz, taking us in from head to toe. A knowing, kind look enters her eyes.

"The snow is falling. You two will catch cold. Please, co inside our cafe. We have hot coffee."

I glance at Deniz, then back to the kind stranger.

"That sounds good."

She smiles warmly and turns, leading the way.

This ti, without hesitation, I reach out and take Deniz’s hand.

His eyes widen, shocked by the sudden, deliberate contact. But I don’t let go.

I start walking, pulling him gently along behind as I follow the woman toward the glowing cafe.

I think Deniz and I need to talk.

Without the hesitation, the unsaid things hanging in the frozen air. We need to clear this awkward silence, so things can go back to how they were before.

Or maybe, find a way to sothing new.

Deniz and I sit at a tiny table in the bright, cozy flower cafe. It’s beautiful—lit up with warm, golden lights and decorated with cascades of fresh blooms.

The red rose I bought rests between us on the wooden table, a stark, beautiful splash of color.

The kind lady sets two steaming mugs of coffee between us with a gentle smile.

"Please, enjoy."

I smile and nod my thanks. Deniz is still looking down, his gaze fixed on the table’s grain as if it holds answers.

I take a slow breath, trying to dissolve the weird awkwardness thickening the air. "Deniz," I begin, my voice deliberately light.

"How’s Mr. David?"

He looks up at , his dark eyes unreadable. "Dad is doing well," he says slowly, each word asured.

I smile again, a little wider, trying to smooth over the rough edges of this tension.

"I’m happy he’s doing well."

Deniz looks down again. He hesitates, his fingers tightening slightly around his mug.

Then, finally, his eyes lift to et mine—a slow, deliberate motion that feels more like a confrontation than a glance.

His voice is low, stripped of its usual quiet warmth.

"What were you doing at the ’Love Fun’ shop?"

I stare at him, shocked by the sudden, direct question.
