When they drove back, it was already late.
After dusk fell, the guards at the Elk Gathering Place increased significantly. Su Ziyu looked up and saw two soldiers wearing exoskeleton armor, one of whom had a special paint on his chest, seemingly a symbol of a brown bear.
The car was stopped before it approached the gate.
"Death’s Claw?!" The officer with the paint on his chest ca over, took off his helt, and looked at the large and ferocious head of Death’s Claw with a shocked expression. He touched the slightly damaged horn on its head and exclaid, "It’s true! It’s the one near our camp!"
"I made this wound with an RPG back then!"
After speaking, he turned to look at Su Ziyu in the driver’s seat, sized him up, and said, "Wilderness Hunter?"
"Yes." Su Ziyu asked directly, "Can we co in?"
"We haven’t had dinner yet."
The officer raised his hand in a gesture to let them pass and then said to Su Ziyu, "Interested in joining our patrol team? You can earn more than three hundred bottle caps a month!"
"There are other subsidies too!"
Su Ziyu shook his head and said, "I’m still soone who prefers a bit more freedom."
The officer looked a bit regretful and said, "If you ever want to settle down, consider joining us. We need seasoned veterans like you."
The off-road vehicle quickly drove inside.
"Whoa!"
"It’s Death’s Claw!"
"Did soone take it down? Who did it? A Wilderness Hunter from outside? What a pro!"
"What?"
"They just accepted the task today? Ca back by night?"
Soon, the whole Elk Gathering Place beca lively. Many people ca out of their hos, and so craned their necks from the bar, watching.
"I won!"
"No one bet correctly! Haha!" The monk laughed while holding a wine bottle.
This monk had just opened a betting pool at the bar, gambling on whether Su Ziyu could take down Death’s Claw, and if he could, when he would co back. Most bet that he’d never return, so placed bets on tomorrow or the day after, almost no one bet that he’d return today.
The monk was laughing happily, but then a deep male voice said, "I bet correctly."
"50 bottle caps, odds ten to one."
Beside him, a slightly alluring female voice chid in, teasing, "Monk, I bet on today too, 20 bottle caps."
The monk’s laughter froze instantly. He turned and looked behind him and saw the tavern owner Max, accompanied by the Bunny Girl. He was surprised and said, "You both bet on today? Let see!"
Whoa.
The monk’s face instantly beca a bit gloomy as he looked crestfallen and said, "Seriously? I drank too much! Celebrated for nothing!"
The two people took half of the winnings.
Max laughed, patted the monk’s shoulder, and said, "With skills like his, he’d either be back today or he’d have failed."
"Let’s go."
"We’ll go and get his bounty."
Many yellow faces popped up; in the Elk Gathering Place, quite a few people ca from Chinatown. They were all curiously looking at Su Ziyu, discussing among themselves, "Where did this expert co from? Looks Chinese! Wilderness Hunter, huh?"
The Chinese were as always enthusiastic about watching the show.
"Make way! Make way!" The monk pushed through the crowd and directly lifted Death’s Claw’s head from the roof of the car. Looking at Su Ziyu, he smiled, "I knew you could do it!"
"Good guy. It’s really heavy."
Su Ziyu smiled and pushed open the car door to step out. He saw Old Bob at the bar entrance in the distance, who was raising a glass in greeting, with a slightly flattering expression. Su Ziyu smiled and nodded back.
Paul also ca over with so people.
His scavenger team was mixed and was in awe, looking at Su Ziyu with thumbs up, saying, "Impressive!"
"Expert!"
At this ti, a little girl ca to stand behind Su Ziyu. She stood on tiptoe and whispered, "Don’t give the reward directly later."
"Once you get the money, divide my share later."
The situation was sowhat chaotic now.
Many people ran out to watch, so the little girl was quite cautious, fearing that taking money now might bring so unnecessary trouble. Although three hundred bottle caps wasn’t a lot, the residents of the Wasteland Era had little money. They inherited the Old World’s Western tradition, hardly saved any wealth, and this money could attract so ill-intentioned people.
These people might not dare to find trouble with Su Ziyu, but Matty, such a little girl, could possibly be noticed.
"Okay." Su Ziyu nodded slightly, feeling ticklish in his ear, and pushed her head aside.
Shortly.
Max walked over with a big bag. He patted the head of Death’s Claw and smiled, "Here’s your bounty. Interested in doing another task?"
"With your skills, dealing with the Mud Crab Queen shouldn’t be hard."
Su Ziyu shook his head and said, "Another day."
"The New Year is approaching."
"Let’s rest for a couple of days and talk later."
Max smiled, while the Bunny Girl beside him gave Su Ziyu a flirtatious wink and said, "Co have a drink when you have ti! It’s on !"
Laughter erupted around them.
The Bunny Girl was not bothered at all and responded to those teasing her by saying, "Buzz off! If any of you looked this good and could take down Death’s Claw, what’s treating you to a drink? You can do whatever you want!"
