Polaris.
When Su Ziyu returned here once again, he almost couldn’t recognize this camp.
"Dad. We’re almost there!" The little girl looked slightly excited as she stood up and pointed at the chimneys in the distance, saying, "That’s the factory of Polaris."
The scale of this settlent has expanded nearly five to six tis compared to before.
Su Ziyu could see the concrete walls built with reinforced steel from afar, making one might mistake it for a military fortress. Occasionally, you could see scavenger convoys on the road, although most resources near Polaris have already been collected. To scavenge, one probably has to go far away, and many of these scavengers wore protective suits, likely aiming to enter the Southern Cross area.
It was a city from the Old World, and if you look carefully, you can still find quite a few supplies.
As the distance grew closer, the gate of Polaris gradually appeared in view, a heavy iron gate operated by a motor, with guards ard with guns standing on the wall, all wearing exoskeleton power armor, numbering about seven to eight.
However, these people didn’t wear helts, likely feeling a bit stuffy.
"Dad..." The little girl who had been happily standing suddenly paused, then shrank and leaned closer to Su Ziyu’s ear, whispering, "I don’t know any of those people up there."
Not know them?
The little girl grew up in Polaris, so she should be familiar with everyone here.
Could sothing have happened to Polaris?
Su Ziyu reached out and touched her little head, whispering, "Don’t act rashly. Let’s go inside first and talk."
The guards just glanced at them and let them pass.
Su Ziyu noticed the wolf’s head emblem on their exoskeleton power armor, and the residents inside the camp glanced at them with a mix of disgust and fear. The roads throughout Polaris had been rebuilt, and the outer area was also replanned, but the inner area where battles occurred still remained. As soon as Su Ziyu entered, he could see the wall inside.
Twelve years have passed.
There were still remnants of the blast marks from fighting with the super mutants left behind.
Su Ziyu put a coat on the little girl and then headed straight to the hotel, as he was quite unfamiliar with the inside of Polaris now, hardly seeing any familiar faces. However, compared to before, there were now many more civilians dressed as workers. Currently, Polaris has about five factories, engaging in projects like food processing, weapon manufacturing, and water purification.
The hotel owner is a white man; he looked curiously at the two little girls behind Su Ziyu as he checked in, then simply tossed over a key, saying, "Ten bottle caps a day."
The little girl, who was over nine when she was sent to the Academy to study, wasn’t recognized by many here.
Moreover, children grow fast, and now she’s grown taller than before.
In the room.
Su Ziyu stood by the window and looked outside. He could see so guards patrolling with guns, but wasn’t very clear about the situation in the Inner City District, which used to be a military fortress back then; he couldn’t see the situation within from here.
"Sweetie, tell about Polaris." Su Ziyu sat down and softly spoke.
First, understand the situation, then decide the next move.
It seems that Polaris has changed ownership.
Pasha has been missing for such a long ti, and judging by the nature of the Wasteland World, there are probably ambitious people wishing to take over.
The little girl thought for a mont and quickly started talking about what she knew.
But she was still too young, and had left Polaris for so ti, only talking about so trivial matters; Pasha didn’t let her leave the Inner City District much, mainly out of fear of encountering radiation pollution sources outside. Yet, Su Ziyu was surprised to hear two familiar nas from the little girl’s mouth.
Bill and Zoe.
Bill was the leader of the scavengers back then; he seems to have so connection with the Brotherhood. After killing the super mutants, he stayed to assist Pasha in rebuilding Polaris.
Zoe was the woman who entered Southern Cross with Su Ziyu and the others.
Her identity is unclear.
She mysteriously disappeared after taking a high-end bionic arm.
However, in the little girl’s words, she was called Aunt Zoe, seemingly a technical advisor for Polaris, and didn’t usually stay in Polaris often but would co by to see her every year.
Su Ziyu quickly found a breakthrough; after thinking for a while, he instructed, "You two stay in the hotel."
"I’ll go find so news about old Bill."
Old Bill seems to have been marginalized now, with his current identity as Civilian Militia Captain, mainly in charge of the outer city’s militia, a position with moderate authority but no significant influence.
"Okay. Be careful, Dad," the little girl nodded and said.
Su Ziyu smiled as he patted her little head, saying, "Nothing. I’ll be careful. Relax as you wait for to return."
After saying that, he walked straight out of the hotel.
Twelve years have passed.
Everything inside Polaris feels unfamiliar, but the garbage hill over in the slum area is still there, seemingly without the energy to clean it, just fenced off directly with walls. Su Ziyu quickly found a man dressed like a militia leaning bored against a wall corner, smoking, looking idle. These militia were originally to maintain daily security, but now seem to have been taken over by so other people.
