As it turned out, young master Ji Huan had been right about everything, and all of Zhu Qianyu’s worries were unnecessary.
The party was held in the Ji Family’s garden. The two brothers arrived at the party with their families in tow; everyone else was already there.
Yin Zhihao and the others were called over by Ji Dabao, and they unloaded all the snacks from the car.
On the lawn to the side, the bright sunlight spilled over the grass. At the far end of the lawn, an old man with white hair was sitting in a wheelchair, a blanket over his legs and a book resting on top of the blanket.
Ji Xiaobao held onto Zhu Qianyu’s slightly sweaty palm, stepping "swish, swish" across the grass with her toward the old man.
"Grandpa, this is my girlfriend Zhu Qianyu. You can call her Xiao Yu." Ji Huan led Zhu Qianyu over to the old man.
Mr. Ji, who was over eighty and close to ninety, turned his head at those words. His gaze swept over Ji Huan first, then landed on Zhu Qianyu’s face, and from beginning to end there was a kindly smile on his face.
"Xiao Yu, hmm, Xiaobao has good taste."
Hearing the old man’s cheerful voice, Zhu Qianyu finally steadied herself a little and took a proper look at him. The old man’s white-haired face was gentle and kind, and his features faintly resembled those of his son, President Ji.
"Hello, Grandpa Ji, I’m Xiao Yu!"
"Mm, this is the first ti you’ve co back, right, Xiao Yu? In the future, co back to play with Xiaobao more often."
Just like Le Tong and the others, Mr. Ji said "co back."
In other words, just like with Le Tong and the others, he already thought of Zhu Qianyu as one of their own.
The heart that had been hanging in mid-air finally settled firmly back onto solid ground.
Just as she had quickly accepted Ji Rui Letong and the others, Zhu Qianyu just as quickly accepted Mr. Ji. She thoughtfully held the wheelchair armrest, motioning for Ji Huan to help turn the wheelchair around.
"Grandpa Ji, Beibei and Guoguo are here too. How about we push you over to take a look at the two little babies?"
"Beibei and Guoguo are back too? Then hurry up and push over to see them."
Back when he had been pushed down the stairs by Old Madam Ji and broken his leg, Mr. Ji’s leg had still worked fairly well in the years right after the surgery. But as he got older, it grew weaker and weaker, and in the past two years he had simply been using a wheelchair to get around.
Ji Huan and Xiao Yu had only pushed the wheelchair halfway when the two little brats Beibei and Guoguo appeared at the other side of the lawn. Seeing Ji Huan and the others, they spread their little hands, pumping their short legs as they ran over.
"Great-Grandpa! Little Uncle! Auntie!"
Their crisp, ringing voices lted Mr. Ji’s heart. When the two little ones ran up, he bent down and kissed each of his great-grandsons’ chubby cheeks.
"Beibei, Guoguo, good boys!"
"Great-Grandpa, eat big drumstick!" Guoguo grabbed Mr. Ji’s hand with one of his and pointed the other toward the grill surrounded by a crowd.
"Alright, alright, Great-Grandpa will go have a big drumstick."
Since the two little brats and the old man were on the sa page, of course Ji Huan and Zhu Qianyu pushed Mr. Ji over to the grill.
The butler appeared at so point. "Sir, the doctor instructed you not to eat food that’s too greasy, and to eat as little as possible of things that easily cause inner heat..."
Mr. Ji waved his hand. "Enough, I know my limits. It’s rare that all these little ones have co back to see today, don’t just stand there saying things to dampen the mood!"
The butler looked troubled. Ji Huan stepped back two paces and whispered to him, "Grandpa Li, don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on Grandpa."
Only then did the butler relax a little and turn back into the house to prepare so dicine for Mr. Ji.
On the other side, Tian Fang, who was drinking red wine, waved at Zhu Qianyu from afar. "Xiao Yu, co here!"
Zhu Qianyu lowered her head to glance at Mr. Ji. The old man understood and patted the back of her hand. "Go on, go on, Xiaobao and the others are here with ."
So Zhu Qianyu had no choice but to leave Ji Huan and Mr. Ji behind and trot over to Tian Fang. "Sister Fang..."
"Co, Xiao Yu, let introduce you. This is my husband, Yin Zhihao. You can just call him Brother Hao. He and Ji Dabao are best friends and classmates. And this is Ren Weiqi and his wife, Nie Wei, also all classmates of Ji Dabao."
Zhu Qianyu smiled and greeted each of them in turn. As they chatted, Nuonuo brought her a plate of fruit salad. "Xiao Yu, have sothing to fill your stomach first."
"Thank you, Sister Han!" Zhu Qianyu obediently took it, ate a few bites, and after chatting a while with Tian Fang and the others, Nuonuo pulled her over to the table under the big tree.
"Xiao Yu, this is Auntie Wan’er, Mommy’s good bestie, and this is her husband, Uncle Tao."
The way they were doing this, it was obvious they were introducing Zhu Qianyu to all the Ji Family’s relatives and friends.
Zhu Qianyu smiled and greeted each of the elders one by one. These people all seed very talkative and completely kind. When they spoke to her, it was in the tone of friends; there was not the slightest bit of overbearing elder attitude, nor any awkward, interrogatory questioning like checking a household registry.
This kind and harmonious atmosphere filled Zhu Qianyu’s heart with a warm glow.
All her life, aside from being treated decently by Sister and Xing Bailun and the others, in the Zhu Family she had basically run into walls everywhere. No matter who she saw, the other party always looked at her as if they were seeing a debt collector, faces full of dislike.
But in the Ji Family, up to now, she had never once been t with a cold face or a cold reception. From Mr. Ji at the top to the nannies and drivers at the bottom, all treated her with warmth and friendliness.
"Xiao Yu, when you have so free ti, we’ll go back to my parents’ ho together. I’ll take you to et my relatives there."
As they chatted, Le Tong suddenly brought up her own maiden family.
Zhu Qianyu didn’t know where Le Tong’s parents lived. Though she felt nervous inside, out of politeness she still asked, "Sure, Aunt Tong, is your parents’ ho also in R City?"
"No, my parents’ ho is in Beijing. So going back and forth will take at least two or three days. You see when it’s convenient, and we’ll go back for a visit together."
At this mont, Zhu Qianyu had no idea that Le Tong’s maiden family was actually the Yang Family, a household as renowned as the Ji Family.
She nodded and agreed, and about half an hour later, she took the drumstick Ji Huan handed her and took a big bite. Suddenly rembering the matter, she chewed on the drumstick as she asked Ji Huan.
"Aunt Tong said to see when it’s convenient for us and go back to her parents’ ho with her for a visit."
"Mm, that’s good. I’ll make so arrangents when I go back next week. I haven’t seen my uncle for a while either; I kind of miss them." Ji Huan spoke very naturally.
Zhu Qianyu nodded, then asked curiously, "What does Aunt Tong’s family do? Are they also in business?"
Ji Huan was also tearing at a drumstick. When he heard her question, his hand froze in mid-air. After a long mont, he sighed.
"Xiao Yu, don’t tell that before you beca my girlfriend, you didn’t even know about the Ji Family of R City."
This alone showed that since she was little, Zhu Qianyu had never had the consciousness of being a wealthy heiress—or rather, her family had never treated her as a rich young lady.
"Of course I knew!" Zhu Qianyu denied at once.
